However, deep within Liu Yong's thoughts, he couldn't help but chuckle. The mere idea seemed absurd to him. There was no way he would ever find himself plunging into the depths of the sea.
Glancing at his watch, Liu Yong mused to himself, "Lele will be finishing work soon. Today is the day when the students receive their notices, and tomorrow marks the beginning of the long-awaited summer vacation."
With the arrival of summer vacation, Li Changle would have ample time on her hands.
Stepping outside, Liu Yong went to the underground garage, taking the elevator down. The Global Shipping Group had dozens of exclusive parking spaces, most of which were occupied by luxury cars.
Deciding on which car to drive to Lele's school, Liu Yong contemplated using the Pagani this time. Although it meant parking a bit farther from the school gate, it was a small compromise.
The Pagani supercar, worth more than 30 million yuan, was acquired by the Global Shipping Group during last month's Huahai Auto Show. Though officially a company car, Liu Yong had claimed it as his own.
Driving the magnificent supercar through the gates, Liu Yong effortlessly turned heads along the way. The distinctive roar of the Pagani's engine always drew attention whenever he accelerated.
Ahead, he spotted the entrance to Li Changle's school. Deliberately choosing a parking spot a bit further away, Liu Yong searched for a vacant space along the side of the road.
A public parking space was nearby, but just as he was about to park there, a Mercedes-Benz convertible sports car zoomed in, evidently aiming to snatch the spot.
Liu Yong was taken aback. A collision with the Mercedes-Benz was inevitable if he didn't slow down. Reacting swiftly, Liu Yong hit the brakes, coming to a halt with a mere 20 centimetres of the distance between the two vehicles.
The driver, a young man, seemed unaware of the car Liu Yong had been driving moments ago. His shock was palpable as soon as he recognized the Pagani, valued at over 30 million.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtApologizing hastily, the young man stammered, "Brother, I'm sorry. I didn't see your car approaching."
Without daring to compete with the Pagani for a parking space, the young man quickly pressed the accelerator and sped away. The thought of potential damages rendered him unwilling to risk his own car, even if it meant selling it wouldn't cover the costs.
Liu Yong couldn't help but smile. He hadn't anticipated such perks from driving a luxury car, effectively deterring other car owners.
After parking the car, Liu Yong approached the school gate. At this time, numerous students emerged and engaged in various conversations. Some wore smiles, while others seemed crestfallen.
Achieving good grades naturally brought joy, but failure left one feeling quite the opposite.
After waiting for approximately ten minutes, a jubilant Li Changle finally emerged, flashing a wide smile from a distance.
"Brother Yong, you've been waiting for a while," Li Changle exclaimed happily.
"No, I just arrived a short while ago," Liu Yong replied.
Li Changle took the initiative to link her arm with Liu Yong's, her expression relaxed. "Summer vacation is finally here, and those brutes have finally gone home. I can relax for two whole months," she sighed with relief.
Liu Yong responded, "You should truly take this time to relax. The LD Olympic Games will begin next month, and I've already purchased the tickets. Let's go and have some fun in LD."
Li Changle readily agreed, saying, "That sounds great, let's go and have a blast."
The two engaged in light-hearted banter as they approached the Pagani parked on the side of the road. Li Changle exclaimed, "Brother Yong, your new car."
Liu Yong replied, "Yes, I recently purchased it and took it out for a spin today."
A crowd had gathered around the supercar, mainly consisting of young men and women who observed, commented, and even snapped pictures.
"That's a Pagani supercar, worth at least 30 million in the domestic market."
"I wonder who owns this car. Huahai City truly boasts its share of wealthy individuals."
"The king of supercars has arrived! If only I could sit inside for a moment, that would be incredible."
Upon hearing these remarks, Li Changle smiled and whispered, "Brother Yong, this car is drawing quite the attention. If we stay here a bit longer, it might cause a traffic jam."
Liu Yong chuckled, taking a few steps forward and raising his voice, "Please make way, everyone. Please make way."
A stylish woman, engrossed in taking pictures, appeared unwilling, furrowing her brows and complaining, "When taking pictures, it's first come, first served. I haven't finished yet, so please wait a bit."
Mistaking Liu Yong for a fellow photographer, she failed to grasp the situation. She made no attempt to step aside, instead holding her phone, posing, and even lying in the car to take pictures.
Liu Yong shook his head slightly, retrieved the car key from his pocket, and pressed a button. Instantly, the Pagani's headlights flashed, and the iconic scissor doors gracefully opened.
At that moment, the crowd realized who the car's owner was, promptly making way.
The fashionable woman, who had been perched on the car, taking snapshots, was taken aback. When she caught sight of the car key in Liu Yong's hand, she couldn't hide her astonishment. "Brother, this is your car?"
Liu Yong nodded and replied, "Yes, it belongs to me."
The fashionable woman's previous dissatisfaction and disdain vanished instantly. Instead, she became exceedingly enthusiastic, even a bit flirtatious.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Brother, may I have the privilege of sitting inside?" she inquired.
Apologizing politely, Liu Yong stated, "I'm sorry, but we have to leave soon."
The woman persisted, "Young man, could you at least add me on WeChat?"
Liu Yong was about to refuse when Li Changle, unable to tolerate the situation any longer, stepped forward and linked her arm with Liu Yong's, speaking affectionately, "Brother Yong, let's get in the car."
The fashionable woman blushed, feeling incredibly embarrassed. She hastily retreated, realizing that Liu Yong had a girlfriend and a much more attractive one at that.
Amidst envious gazes from the onlookers, Liu Yong drove away. Seated in the passenger seat, Li Changle teased, "Seems like I need to be more vigilant. If I'm not careful, young ladies will be vying for your attention."
Liu Yong smiled and replied, "Well, who can blame us for being handsome?"
Li Changle rolled her eyes playfully, remarking, "You're definitely getting conceited."
They both laughed heartily as Liu Yong steered the car toward a fine restaurant. It was already noon, and they decided to have lunch there.
The restaurant was bustling with customers, predominantly affluent individuals. The crowded venue underscored the fact that Huahai City was home to numerous wealthy residents.
With all the private rooms occupied, Liu Yong and Li Changle settled for a seat in the main dining area on the second floor. Thankfully, they secured a spot by the window.
Liu Yong perused the menu and ordered various dishes, including meat, vegetables, and two of the restaurant's signature specialties. Knowing he had to drive later, he refrained from ordering wine, opting for freshly squeezed juice.
The dishes arrived promptly, and as they savoured their meal, the two engaged in conversation, sharing amusing anecdotes that elicited frequent laughter. Li Changle, in particular, found herself amused by Liu Yong's remarks.
The ambience was pleasant, and the food was delightful. The only drawback was the relatively high prices. The meal cost them over a thousand yuan, but Liu Yong didn't give it much thought.
After approximately half an hour, they had nearly finished their meal and were preparing to settle the bill, intending to catch a movie later in the afternoon.
Suddenly, a surprised voice rang out, "Lele, is that really you?"
