Little Miss Devil: The President's Mischievous Wife
Chapter 309: Corporate TakedownShen Yi stared at his phone, hesitating if he should give his wife a call. Staring outside of his new study within the house he recently purchased near the academy, his day was filled with more workloads that he had to deal after returning home with his wife.
This was his final work for the Shen Group, and after this, he would leave to continue his venture with his own company, the SY Holdings.
His eyes then landed at acquisition papers lying on his desk. One major company down, several to go. His only concern was if his brother could handle the Shen Group after his departure. He could already guess that Shen Xue would be upset with his decision.
He swiveled his chair and then leaned forward to rest on his elbows. He tapped his fingers together as his eyes examined the list.
“Boss Yi, I’ve compiled all the details you need from each company. This would also help us sort it out.” Qiao He commented while he waited for Shen Yi’s next orders.
Shen Yi didn’t say a word but took a pen and started canceling and adding more names of establishments, companies, and business contacts.
“What about Sun Feiyan?”
“Still trying to keep everything intact. As she overtook the position as their new president, their investors’ worries had been cleared easily. They would rather have her in charge than her cousin, Sun Qiyan.”
“And her aunts?” Shen Yi followed.
“Sun Ruying has been out of business since the day she offended Young Madam. On the other hand, Sun Mingai managed to convince Chairman Sun to give her adoptive son a position within Sun Corporation.”
“Be careful when dealing with their subsidiaries. We wouldn’t want Sun Feiyan to find out that we’re working a corporate takedown from the inside.” Shen Yi reminded him.
“Yes, Boss Yi. We’re very careful not to leave a single trace.” Qiao He replied as he took back the list and left Shen Yi alone on his study.
Just like his wife, it was time for him to venture into the unknown. While it would be nice to just wait for his father to step down and let everything fall to his lap, Shen Yi would rather work hard for Lu Xinyi and his future.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWhile it’s true that he was the president of the Shen Group, it was only a title. Because at the end of the day, his father and Matriarch Shen held the deciding power. It was only because they trusted him that he was allowed to make decisions on the spot.
With a huge chunk of his assets kept safe on one of his Swiss bank accounts, he was assured that he and his little devil had no need to worry about her living expenses while staying at Silver Leaf and sponsoring her cooking battles for the next two years.
His plans about taking down the whole Sun family were progressing slowly but surely. It might take some time, but all the troubles would be worth it if he could keep that family away from his wife.
Planning the newest project of the Shen Group was never an easy task, especially when everything would be built from scratch. However, as six of the evening came, Shen Yi crawled out of the conference room and went home, taking the rest of the work with him.
Last night, he left Lunar Residence two hours before midnight. Although the academy recognized him as Lu Xinyi’s husband, staying in her suite was still forbidden. He begrudgingly left her side with her telling him that two years would go fast and they’ll be together again.
Now, as he looked outside, Shen Yi didn’t know if he could wait that long. Only forty-eight hours passed, and he was missing her terribly. The possibility of not seeing her at his whim was something he had to get used to.
Her face came into his mind again. Standing up from his seat, he turned on his heels and walked to the master bedroom and into his spacious bathroom to have a shower before retiring for the night.
Later, Shen Yi lay on his bed, drained from all the battles he fought throughout the day. Just like a real battlefield, taking down companies and acquiring it were exhausting. It was a battle of intellect and words. Strategic attacks on deals and reputations were also necessary to win.
However, all of it would be worth it. For Lu Xinyi and their children.
For the first time in his life, Shen Yi would face the waiting game. Two years would be a long time, and he needed to work on shortening that timeline without going insane due to his wife’s absence.
As he lay alone on his bed, he realized how he hated returning to an empty home. He missed hearing the giggles of the twins, the smile of his wife as he came home, with their dogs barking and trying to get his attention to pet them.
What would he give to hear Lu Xinyi welcome him once more?
Turning on his side and seeing that it was past eleven in the evening, he took his phone and scrolled down to his wife’s number. At the first ring, Lu Xinyi picked up his call.
“Wow, you’re really calling me at this time?” she laughed at the other line.
“I missed you, too.” Shen Yi grinned. “I thought giving you a call will lessen it, but how wrong I am.”
He turned laid on his back and covered his eyes with his forearm, enjoying hearing her voice. Oh, god. He really did miss her.
“I want to see you, too.” He could sense that she was somewhat embarrassed by her confession.
He could imagine her cheeks stained with a blush as she tried to hide it with a pillow just like what she did whenever she doesn’t want him to see her blushing.
“Why are you still awake?” he asked.
“Hmm doing some homework. This week, we have to do the basics. I need to refresh my memory. I can’t disappoint my sponsor with my failing grades, no?”
“You’ll never disappoint me, Xinxin,” he reassured her. “Just do your best. As long as you regret nothing, I’ll understand. Anyway, I hear what happened today.” His tone was almost teasing. Ah, of course, nothing can escape under his radar if it’s about his wifey.
Lu Xinyi gasped. “How did you know about it?”
“I have eyes and ears within Silver Leaf, wifey. Do you think I would let you go alone?”
He heard her muttering about him being a control freak and going overboard.
“You spoil me too much,” she complained. “I only want to stay by your side.” She huffed.
“You didn’t have classes on weekends, right?”
“Yeah,” Lu Xinyi was tempted to ask how did he knew but stopped herself from asking. He might have taken a look on her schedule beforehand. “What about it?”
“Stay with me during weekends,” he suggested. He would have to find a way to keep her to himself somehow.

“…But our home is too far from here, and I didn’t bring my car with me. How am I supposed to go back and forth without tiring myself?”
Shen Yi chuckled as he remembered he forgot to mention that he also made a move to be closer to her.
“I also moved to a new place near you. I’m staying a few blocks away from Silver Leaf. You don’t need your car. I can arrange for someone to pick you up and bring you back anytime.”
“I can take a cab instead. No need for that. Having you pick me from here would only cause more troubles and rumors about me. I’d rather have them start talking about me as a chef than being a shameless woman clinging onto your name.” She sighed.
“Their words don’t matter.”
“I want people to know me as a chef and not because I’m your wife. If they’re going to respect me, I want it because I earned it by myself without using your name. Only an idiot will use your name to get what she wants.”
“But this idiot loves you too much to allow you to use his name.”
Lu Xinyi coughed on her hand. So smooth, Shen Yi.
“S-shut up, you idiot! And stop grinning! I know you are!”
He could almost hear her embarrassment over the phone. He would never get tired of this.
“I love you.”
Why was it so easy to say these words over the phone than in person?
The silence that followed surprised him that he had to check if she cut the line or if it was disconnected. Pressing his phone back on his ear, he called out her name. He heard her say something incoherent.
“Xinxin? Did you say something?”
“I said I love you, too! Now, get off the phone and go to sleep!”
