Chapter 165
Elsa was a little annoyed by Ryder’s attitude.
However, this was the help her superior sent her, and there was not much she could say about it.
“Alright. This is Wilbur Penn, a friend of mine. He’s here to help with the case too. We’ll be working
together.”
Ryder glanced at Wilbur. “Is he part of your team?”
“No, he’s just a friend,” Elsa replied.
Ryder said emotionlessly, “I’m sorry, but my work forbids the presence of outsiders. Tell him to leave.”
Elsa flushed awkwardly. “Mr. Penn here is a cultivator too, and I’m certain that the case will move along
much smoother if we work together.”
“That isn’t necessary, Ryder said, his expression unchanged.
Elsa did not know what to say. Who was this guy, and why was he acting like this?
Wilbur said to Elsa, “That’s fine. I was busy, anyway. You can go on your own. I’m sure things will be
fine with Mr. Litwing here.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWilbur turned to leave after that. He had no time to waste on mide people like this.
Elsa could only send Wilbur off, returning to her office after that. Ryder was still in the room, his face
devoid of emotion like an robot as he sat stiff as a board.
Elsa shook her head. She was about to say something when the phone rang.
She glanced at the screen and picked it up at once.
“Did something happen?”
“Chief, we’ve found the drug den and have the place surrounded, Awaiting orders.”
“Good, give me the location. I’ll be right there.”
“Yes, Chief.”
Elsa hung up, and said to Ryder, “We can go now.”
Ryder said nothing, getting up and walking out with his briefcase.
Elsa shook her head and followed after him. She drove both of them to the scene at
at once.
Half an hour later, Elsa’s car pulled over at the foot of a mountain down South.
Elsa and Ryder got out of the car and were greeted by two people walking up to them, “Chief, it’s right
there in that abandoned village.”
“What’s the situation with the village? Elsa asked.
One of the officers said, “It’s a population that moved away a few years ago, leaving the village
abandoned for many years. It had always been empty, but recently, there have been sightings of lights
and people walking around. We didn’t dare to get any closer, so we don’t know how many people are in
there yet.”
Elsa nodded. “Close in on them and get ready for arrest.”
“Yes, Chief,” the subordinate called out, walking off to inform everyone else at once.
Just then, Ryder opened up his briefcase. He took out its contents and began to assemble a black
sniper rifle with a red bullet clip.
The rifle was a sight to behold. It was longer than a Barrett and taller than a human being, making it an
absolutely fearsome thing to look at. It also seemed heavier than what an average person would be
able to carry.

“I don’t think this is included in our service weapons, right?” Elsa had never quite seen anything like it.
Ryder took out another black dagger and attached it to his waist before he lifted the rifle with one arm.
“It’s a super cannon with spiral bullets, able to take down any cultivator.”
“Cool” Elsa gave Ryder a thumbs–up. She waved a hand, and the two of them began making their way
into the village.
They quickly neared the porch in the middle of the village while the other officers had already
surrounded the village.
Elsa glanced at Ryder, who was still holding his super cannon without saying a word.
She shook her head, and called out, “Initiate the arrest.”
The officers sprang into action at once. They rushed onto the porch, and within the next few minutes,
many down on the ground amidst cries of shock. people were held
Elsa glanced at Ryder in disbelief. Hadn’t this gone a little too successfully? Could Remy have lied to
them, and there were no cultivators there at all?
Ryder was still standing there emotionlessly. Elsa paid him no mind, making her way inside.
