Chapter 2: Escape
The sound of gunshots echoed in the big hall as bodies fell lifeless to the ground. It was a bloodbath.
All the handsome men and beautiful women, now a forgotten past.
“AHHH...NOOO...!!”
The shrieking screams from the people before their bodies fell limply reverberated in the entire big hall.
Outside the mansion, gunshots good could be heard everywhere as the bodyguards stationed at strategic places in the house began opening fire to counter the others.
~~~~~
.....
Five Minutes Earlier...
As soon as the door closed, Jade Frost slumped back down on her chair at the side of her dressing table.
Her eyes dropped close and her hands went up to hold her head.
She felt a throbbing pain in her head and clutched her scalp tighter, hoping for it to stop. Her brows furrowed deeply, forming a V-shaped curve in between her brows as she gritted her teeth.
She titles her head back on the chair and after a minute the throbbing pain subsided.
Her eyes flipped open, darting to and fro. After some seconds, she stopped moving them around and brought her head down.
The pain had greatly reduced. Quickly she opened her drawer, took a pain killer and a glass of water, put both into her mouth and swallowed.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBy the time she was done, she was all fit and ready to go down.
Suddenly her gaze moved to the mirror to take one more look at herself and hoped her tiredness earlier hadn’t ruined her hairdo and makeup.
She brushed her hair with her fingers and straightened her gown. She took another look at the mirror, feeling satisfied at the image she saw when her smile dropped.
Her eyes fell on a red dot on her dress, at her chest.
‘It wasn’t there just now.’ She thought and put her finger on it.
Rather than brush off the red dot, it was now on her finger. Upon realization, she bent down instantly and...
Bang!
A bullet flew threw from across the mansion and straight into her room to land on the wall.
Her head shot up instantly, as she stared at the missed bullet on the wall.
Several shots followed and her door flew open.
At the same time, Jade heard a loud scream from the hall downstairs.
“Mother!”
She turned her head towards the door and her eyes locked with the lady in a short black dressed.
She now held a small gun in her hand and quickly shot at the window.
She made a terrible mistake because what followed next, where a batch of gunshots fired into the room from outside.
She ducked down and hid behind a wall in the room. Her eyes found Jade’s again and both nodded at each other.
With the gunshots unending, Jade took the risk and ran a crossed the room to where the other girl was.
By this time, all hell had broke loose downstairs as the gunshots and screams of the men and women echoed throughout the whole building.
“Father and mother... ”
“No Lady Jade. Your safety comes first. We need to rush to the garage and head for the safe house.”
“They may be in danger, I cannot leave them here, Asia.”
BANG!!
Both of them turned their heads towards the window and at the door. Alternating their gazes in turn to the sounds.
Several gunshots could be heard from outside and downstairs. It was clear as day that it was a massacre.
“Get a grip of yourself, my Lady. It is either they are been protected by the bodyguards or are already dead. Gunmen would be up any moment from now. We must leave.”
~~~~
By the time everyone in the hall was dead, the man from earlier walked past the dead bodies, his eyes cold and distant as they scanned every person on the bloody floor.
Seconds later, his eyes landed on a lady in blue, and after staring at her for some time, he shouted his command.
“She is not here. Search the building and capture her. If she hesitates, kill her.”
Immediately the gunmen and some serving boys remaining rushed up the stairs and separated with some going in the right direction and the others taking the corridor to the left.
At the long corridor, Jade and Asia held their guns as they made their way carefully towards the staircase.
It was Jade’s foolish idea to take a peak and Asia couldn’t stop her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHalfway through the corridor, they heard the footsteps of people rushing up and shouting, “This set take there, the others come with me. You heard the boss, shoot anyone on sight and capture Jade Frost alive. If she puts up a fight... Kill her!”
Jade froze in place upon hearing the order. Her small white hands gripped her gun tighter as her gaze flickered to her side.
Asia arched a brow at her as if saying ‘I told you so.’ Not wasting another minute, both ladies ran to the opposite direction.
By the time the men got up, they saw the shadows of two women take a bend at a corner
“There they are. After them.” The leader of the small gunmen ordered and all of them chased after them.
Taking the bend, they soon found themselves in a storage room and hurried to the door at the end.
Kicking it open, both ladies ran down the stairs heading for the garage.
Bang!
The men got to the staircase and shot at them. Asia stopped and hid towards the wall.
“Go, I would hold them off.”
Not waiting for Jade’s reply, she moved forward when she was sure there was an opening, she rained several shots at the men, killing two on spot.
One of the men shot and it hit her right arm. “Ahh!”
Jade took over and fired back at him.
“Get them!” The man hollered again at the men.
Jade’s eyes met with Asia’s forearm as red liquid oozed out from the wound. Her gaze went up to look at the strong lady.
“I thought I told you to go.”
“I thought I gave the orders here?” she asked, a small smile graced her lips before her eyes turned completely cold. “Let’s go. I am not leaving you behind.”
“Do not let them escape!”
