Whoosh!

Jumping down into the large hole, Valyr allowed the law of gravity to do its thing, slightly adjusting his position from time to time to make sure he did not make contact with the walls.

Then, by the time he was only a few meters away from touching the ground, the young man conjured a strong gust of wind and aimed it at the ground below to act as counterforce.

Fwoosh!

In less than an instant, the speed at which he fell down had reduced to negligible levels.

However, such an action came at the cost of him feeling like someone had landed a solid punch on the entirety of his body, which he could only endure until he landed on the ground with both of his feet.

Thud!

"I am never going to do that again." Feeling his feet make contact with the ground, the young man closed his eyes for a bit, giving himself some time to let the aftereffects of his actions subside.

Once he felt that he had mostly recovered, only did the young man open his eyes once more, taking a glance at the top of the hole that he had just jumped into.

"Man. Now that I've reached the bottom, only now do the good ideas of safely landing here come to mind." Staring at the sky for a bit, Valyr began to bitterly smile as a few thoughts began to surface in his mind.

"Could've made some rope out of mana, or used [False Wings of the Shadow Wyvern] to get down here safely even if it was a huge waste of mana, but no. Let's go with the solution that gives me whiplash."

Deciding not to think about such thoughts any further, the young man shift his attention towards the sun's current position, committing it to memory as he calculated how much time he had left before sunset.

Once he had calculated that he still had about two hours or so to explore the area underneath the city ruins, the young man began to look around where he had appeared, conjuring a small flame made out of mana.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Hearing his footsteps echo throughout the area as he started to walk around, Valyr took note of the fact that the entire place seemed to have been fashioned out of metal.

With that in mind, it did not take long for him to realize that he was currently walking through a large corridor, which looked to be wide enough to fit the five of them walking side by side.

Increasing the intensity of the flame he conjured to give off more light, the young man eventually noticed a few spots along the corridor walls that seemed to branch off to other corridors.

However, rather than head into them, he remained on the corridor he was in.

In his mind, he needed to obtain more information regarding this underground area before proceeding to veer off the initial path and head deeper.

Especially with how [Hunter's Tracking Eyes] was showing him tens to hundreds of pitch-black circles whenever he looked at these veering paths.

'I'm guessing this is a complex of underground bunkers?' As Valyr continued to head through the large corridor, some of the openings had prompted a thought to appear in Valyr's mind after he thought those openings resembled entrances to underground rooms.

'With how everything is made out of metal and how the city above is in ruins… an apocalypse shelter?'

As the thought continued to linger in his mind, Valyr continued to find more and more proof that his idea seemed to be correct.

Aside from the fact that there were a couple of openings littered here and there along the walls that led to unoccupied rooms, the young man had even come across an entrance that bared the entire underground room out in the room.

Searching through the room in silence, Valyr took note of the skeletons and dessicated corpses that were strewn about.

Once he was done searching, he then thought about how the city ruins above and these underground rooms were connected, coming up with multiple possibilities as to why they were in their current state.

"Was this perhaps caused by the Triad Gates?" muttered the young man to himself at some point.

Though, after pondering over it for a bit, he eventually discarded the thought, considering that the Triad Gates was established in order for humanity to continue prospering through the years.

Then again, he did not discard the possibility of the organization having some sort of connection to the whole thing.

'I'm guessing these corridors were used for waste management before being turned into an underground shelter.' Walking through the corridor for a bit longer, the young man eventually smelled a faint stench wafting throughout the area, prompting him to pinch his nose in response.

'Gross.' Coincidentally, after realizing this, Valyr began to take note of brown and black streaks running along the corridor walls.

Unsurprisingly, such streaks only made him hasten footsteps, thinking at the back of his head that he would explore as much of the underground area in as little as possible.

Fortunately, not even half an hour after jumping down the hole, Valyr had already reached the end of the large corridor.

With that, he decided to enter through one of the veering paths that was nearest to where he was, having already made a map of the large corridor and the numerous branches in his mind.

Thud. Thud. Thud.

Reducing the intensity of the flame he had conjured after seeing the size of the corridor he had entered, a few thoughts began to linger in Valyr's mind as he continued to walk. 'I should probably give this a name, especially if I'm gonna have the others explore this tomorrow.'

'We've gone with directions for areas on the city ruins…' thought Valyr to himself. 'Adjectives, then?'

'Well, the Dark District sounds nice, but it also sounds bland.' At the thought, the young man scratched the back of his head. 'What other word could I use that also kind of means dark…'

Thankfully, after walking through the small corridor as he pondered over it for a bit longer, Valyr had eventually come up with a suitable name.

"Seeing that there's next to no light in this place, I guess I'll call this the Dimlight District."

"…"

"…"

"…"

"Yeah, mashing two words into one is quite the stretch."
