MMORPG: Rise of the Primordial Godsmith
Chapter 690: Four Pillars: The First AberrationComing to this realization, Valyr was left at a complete loss for words as the memory continued to play.
With that, the young man watched Vaughn go about his experiment in silence, his eyes still widened from the shock brought by the realization.
After sharing a few words to what seemed to be his companion, Vaughn went through the various test tubes and documents laid out before him, intently reading through all of the latter before tinkering with the former.
Then, after nodding in understanding, he proceeded to pick up some of the test tubes before making his way to another part of the area.
Being a spectator to the memory, Valyr followed Vaughn as the latter took a couple of twists and turns with the test tubes in tow.
Eventually, the man had arrived at the place he wanted to arrive at, closing the door behind him as he spoke a few more words.
"Aria, set security level to A. Also, record this as part of Experiment 342-A."
"Understood, Master."
'Who's Aria?' Seeing Vaughn speak out into the void, only for a feminine voice to respond to his words, Valyr began to have some questions about the person on the other end.
'Is she part of the same civilization as Vaughn?'
'Is she in the same place where Vaughn is?'
Such thoughts continued to linger in his mind for a bit more as Vaughn took in a deep breath.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtLetting out a long and drawn-out sigh, he then began to move closer to what looked to be a metal table.
Noticing this, Valyr placed his thoughts at the back of his head for the meantime as he focused his attention on what the man was doing.
From what he could see, there seemed to be a small petri dish on the center of the table that contained a sample of some sort.
Though, with how the sample was of a similar color to the table itself, he wondered for a bit whether or not the sample was some sort of mineral.
Fortunately, the answer to his query would be quickly obtained as Vaughn dumped the contents of one of the test tubes he brought onto the petri dish, causing the sample contained within to undergo rapid mutation.
Krsshhhh…
At the very instant the contents of the tube made contact with the sample, the sample quickly took on a flesh-like color as it grew at a speed visible to the naked eye.
Accompanying its expansion with what could only be described as a gut-wrenching sound, the current scenario undoubtedly made for quite the macabre sight, causing someone fainthearted witnessing this to surely fall unconscious.
Yet, even though what transpired before him looked to be the origin of nightmares, Vaughn remained stoic throughout the sample's transformation.
In fact, by the time the sample had expanded to cover the entire metal table, a faint smile crept up on the edge of the man's lips as he nodded in satisfaction.
Watching the sample expand a bit further, Vaughn went ahead and dumped the contents of yet another other test tube he had brought along, prompting another transformation to happen to the sample yet again.
Krsshhh… krsssshhh…
As the gut-wrenching sound amplified in intensity, the sample began to contort in various ways one could only describe as grotesque.
Witnessing the entire thing unfold from afar, Valyr could not help but frown.
'What is he trying to do?'
With this question in mind, the young man continued to watch the sample contort on top of the metal table, gradually taking on a figure that made him widen his eyes in understanding.
At the same time Valyr seemingly understood what was going on, Vaughn's eyes began to blaze with fervor as it seemed like the experiment before him was gradually turning into a success.
"Come on… come on…"
With every passing second, the sample continued to move closer and closer towards the success Vaughn hoped to achieve.
Gradually becoming more and more human-like in structure, the man thought that it wouldn't be long until the sample became his first ever success.
Yet, just as it seemed like the sample had gained a trace of conscience through its gaze…
Psssshhhh!!!
"Aaaaaagggghhhhh!!!"
Sounding as if it were a balloon deflating, the sample regressed from its near-perfect state as parts of its structure had mutated to something that only vaguely resembled what it was once was.
At the same time, the sample let out a shrill scream filled to the brim with despair and suffering, causing anyone that listened to it an immense amount of melancholy.
Though, rather than feel melancholy towards the final outcome of what happened before him, Vaughn only felt disappointment.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmShaking his head as he watched most of the sample's mass move towards its extremities, the man let out a sigh as he began to leave the area.
"Aria, record everything that happened in this room and add it to the logs of Experiment 342-A."
"Also, set Experiment 342-A's status to Failed."
"Understood, Master."
After saying those words, Vaughn swiftly left the area, leaving the sample to writhe in pain on its own.
At this point, if one were in Valyr's shoes, one would follow Vaughn to find out what he was doing next.
After all, it seemed like he was the focus of this memory.
Yet, even with that in mind, Valyr continued to stay in the area and watched the sample on the metal table writhe some more as it screamed itself hoarse.
By the time a few minutes had passed, the sample had gone silent as the screams that wished to come out of its mouth was now just a shell of its former self.
Realizing this, the sample slowly closed its mouth as what constituted its body continued to writhe and wriggle for quite some time.
Then again, even that eventually turned immobile, feeling as if the life that had been birthed by Vaughn within sample had ceased to exist.
In fact, it was only at that time did the young man leave the area to head to where Vaughn went, his expression pensive as a thought came to mind.
'I don't know if I'm correct in assuming this…'
'But I think I just witnessed the birth of the first aberration.'
