Chapter 98: What More Have You Hidden? Chapter 98: What More Have You Hidden? Riccardo
| woke up to the sound of light snoring and | didn't need to open my eyes to see that it cfrom Marshall, he
had always been a deep sleeper. Marshall had lived withfor a few months after he had broken the news to
his father that he wouldn't take over the family business and would. instead beca professor. Although, why
he had his own room, he had a habit of falling asleep on the couch in the living room.
My body was tightly pressed against Angelia's, | hadn't allowed even one inch of space between us. Waking up
with her in my arms was like a high | never wanted to end, was it possible to get addicted-after only a few
nights? Because it certainly felt like that. Last night was amazing, our girl was everything | could have dreamed
of and more. She took whatever we had given and not only liked it, but she loved it and it felt like what we had
done sealed the deal we had with each
other. We could never go back after this moment.
Rising my head, | saw that she was sleeping sweetly on Marshall's chest with one of her feet slung over him. The
blanket that should have been covered then was by the end of the end, just shy of
failing down to the floor. Looking at them all snuggled up together, | felt a type of warmth in my chest that |
couldn't decipher. All | knew was that | liked the sight and something twisted in my stomach at the thought
because with it cthe knowledge that | was keeping a secret from them both, from all of them. It wasn't even
something | could excuse, none were good enough including my shitty childhood.
When we first saw her, all | could think of was how this would bring my friends andtighter together. We had
finally found someone we had an interest in and | was afraid to let that go, | had
already noticed how much more contact | would have with my friends since she cinto our lives. For a while,
it felt like we had drifted apart, we never had tto hang out like we used to, gotten too busy and focused on
work and yes, that was life. That shit happened but the fear of abandonment fucked us up. Although, that was
not an excuse for messing with people's lives.
The thing was, | had been thinking about telling them every fucking day but the more tthan went, the harder
it was to own up to my mistake and now | was getting more and more involved too. The thought of not only
losing my friends over this fuck up but Angelia as well, | didn't know if | could go through that. So I kept quiet,
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtknowing it would blow up in my face but hoping to delay it just so | can have another day, just another day.
Kingston must have known now, though, one of the two secrets | had kept. He must have gotten her location
when he had picked her up for their night and realized it was his club. My stomach tightened even further,
knowing my conversation with him would soon come. Maybe another day with them had cand gone

already and | was running on nothing but borrowed, no stolen time.
| rose gently from the bed, careful not to wake those two up from their slumber. Kingston left right after Angelia
had fallen asleep to a guest room that was unofficially his which didn't surprise me. That poor man, | knew that
what his parents had done had messed him up real good and try as we might, Marshall and | weren't the best to
help him with his intimacy issues. If he would just open up to Angelia about his past, | am sure she would help.
But | knew he wouldn't, even myself, | hadn't really opened up either.
Grabbing the blanket laying on the floor, | covered them with it, carefully as not to wake them up. My eyes took
in her sleeping form, | had never get tired of looking at her, she looked so innocent, calm goddamned beautiful
that it squeezed my heart. She was also ridiculously tough even though she might not think so, she went after
what she wanted even when her shy personality tried to hold her back. Much had changed ever since she had
cinto our lives and none of those changes were bad. She was like a breath of fresh air, smiles and rainstorm.
Rainstorm? | would never looked at one the sway again not after having seen her standing in one with arms
stretched and smiling up at the sky.
Retracting my eyes from her, | walked out of the room and silently shut behind me. Fresh coffee filled the air,
lettingknow Kingston was awake or had been recently. His sleep routine was practically non-existent but |
hoped he had gone back to bed, it was still early enough for him to get a couple more hours of sleep. After all, it
hadn't been that long ago we fell asleep. The sound. of cupboard doors closing toldthat wasn't the case,
"Good morning," | greeted the angry-looking man that had been my best friend for years.
He hadn't always looked this pissed but | guessed not dealing with your shit would do that to you. He grunted
something incoherent back.
"Did you get ssleep?" | asked, grabbing a cup and starting working the coffee machine. It wast sfancy
device that only made one cup at a tbut the taste made it worth it.
"Some," he mumbled.
"Better than last night." He added.
Last night when Angelia slept over at his house, it was a no-brainer as to why at least not for someone who knew
them. Grabbing the freshly made coffee, | sat down in front of him by the kitchen island. "How did that go
anyway?" | asked.
How did you react to finding out you are her boss? That was the unspoken question hanging in

the air but only | could hear it. | wasn't going to lie, | was fucking nervous. He looked atthrough the tired
eyes.
"She went against a direct order and | had to discipline her." His low gritty voice made it sound like he had just
woken up.
| could hardly remember a twhen he spoke normally without whispering. | think he still had a rough type of
tone back then too but I couldn't be sure.
"What did she do?" | asked with my heart in my throat. | wasn't ready for this conversation, not by a long shot.
"She didn't cover up when | told her to." He replied.
"She....she works at De Iceberg and wore the fucking tiny uniform..." his eyes narrowed as he looked at me.
"Why don't you look surprised?" He asked.
Fuck, it was one thing to keep something from them and a whole other thing to directly lie. My thoughts went a
mile a minute, trying to figure out what to say, how to explain everything but he beatto it. "You fucking
knew." He growled.

"Of course,
had a goddamned private investigator on her ass."
If | said he looked angry earlier, now it looked like he was struggling to keep himself from punching me. If he
tried, | would let him. | deserved it for going behind their backs like this.
"lam...
"What else haven't you told us?" He cutoff.
"What more have you hidden?"
Words got stuck in my mouth, refusing to cout. Never before had | broken their trust inand I could
already see that was precisely what | was doing now, not just breaking it but shattering it. | just hoped the piece
would be big enough to glue back together. When the world told lies as easily as breathing, we valued honesty.
My friends and | had experienced too many lies to know how much they could hurt so we had made sure we
never told anything but the truth to each other. We were a close-knit group because of that. Until now, which was
why this was a betrayal.

"Can we go talk in my office?" | asked, my eyes strayed towards the kitchen entrance.
Marshall and Angelia could wake up at any tand | wasn't ready to tell them all at the stime. He gave me
a gruff nod and stalked towards my office ahead of me. He had been at my place enough tto know where
everything was. My heart hammered as | walked behind him, trying to stay calm like | was offering myself up to
the slaughter house.
He took a seat on the couch while | took the chair opposite him. | had a feeling | should stay as far away as |
could. His right hook was impressive.
