The dinner stretched on for a few hours, mirroring the duration of the show. Given the six–hour time difference
between Preivlille and their home country, the show concluded before 7 p.m., still considered early in the evening.
Judy raised her hand and proposed, “Adam, it’s still early. Should we do something else?”
Adam turned to Lumina and asked, “Do you want to do something else?”
After a busy day and a long dinner, Lumma was truly tired. When Adam looked at her, she was yawning. “Mr. Hills, I
don’t have any plans to do anything else.”
Adam replied, “Then let’s all disperse and go home to rest.”
Lumma stood up, intending to clear the leftovers on the table, but Adam stopped her. “I’ve called someone to clean
up. You’re tired, so go rest.”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCleaning up the dining table would require some time, and Lumma was relieved to know that she didn’t have to do
it herself. After saying goodnight to everyone, she made her way back to her room.
As Lumma entered her room, she immediately took a refreshing shower. Once she was done, she settled onto the
bed. and grabbed her phone to open the group chat with Harry and Ruby. It was approaching 8 p.m. in Preivlille,
while back in their home country, it was nearing 2 a.m. the next day. Lumma noticed that Harry and Ruby hadn’t
responded to the messages she had sent in the group, wishing them a Merry Christmas.
In previous years, no matter where they spent Christmas, the three of them would send blessings in the group chat.
Could it be that this year, since she wasn’t in their home country, they had forgotten about her?
It’s also possible that they didn’t receive the message Lumma sent. Lumma copied and pasted the message she
had just sent and sent it again. [Harry, Ruby, Happy New Year! Let’s make big money together in the new year!]
After sending the message, Lumma waited for a while again, but still didn’t receive any replies from them.
Unbeknownst to her, chaos had erupted in Ruby’s family at that very moment.
Tonight, because of Lumma, Ruby almost got into a fight with someone.
Ruby’s father, Andrew Mugging, had five siblings. Andrew was the eldest, followed by three younger sisters, and a
younger brother who was ten years younger than Andrew.
The youngest brother, August, was spoiled by the whole family since childhood. Even as an adult, he was lazy and
had never held a job. His parents even paid a hefty price to find him a wife.
Andrew’s parents thought that once August got married, things would improve as he would have his wife to take
care of him. However, the wife he married, Gianna, was also lazy and didn’t like to work..
When Ruby’s grandparents were still alive, August and Gianna relied on their meager retirement pension to make
ends meet. They also had a son named Johnny, and the three of them depended on Ruby’s grandparents for
support.

After Ruby’s grandparents passed away, August claimed to be going out to find work, but there was no news from
him for months. If there was any communication, it would be a phone call asking for money. He would work
elsewhere but not send any money back home, always demanding more.
Unable to find August, Gianna latched onto Andrew and would bring Johnny to Andrew’s house every Christmas Eve
to celebrate the holiday.
Gianna claimed that August was working outside and spending all his earnings on other women, leaving her with
nothing. Since August didn’t come back, she had no choice but to seek refuge with Andrew, bringing their son
along.
This had become an annual routine for August’s family, and Ruby had grown accustomed to it..
