Chapter 1443
The door closed, hence returning the moderately spacious room to peace and quiet.
The sky continued to drizzle outside the window.
Caprice was sleeping soundly on the bed, her cheeks slightly blushing.
John’s anxiety and annoyance calmed down when he saw the adorable girl sleeping. His eyes were glued to the girl
for a while before he sighed.
It seemed like he was dedicated to treating her better when he found her.
Should conscience remain in the woman’s mind and
know what was best for her, he could marry her once more and make her Caprice’s mother legitimately.
With the thought in mind, the depression and annoyance that troubled him faded. He got up and wanted to have a
bath before resting, but his phone rang. It was from Julie.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtWithout wanting to startle Caprice, he put the phone beside his ear and whispered, “Julie?”
Julie asked, “John, where have you been with Caprice in the past few days? Mother hasn’t seen Caprice for a while
and she’s worried.”
John answered flatly, “I have some matters to attend to. Caprice is with me on a business trip for a few days.”
Out of concern, Julie asked, “The business guild’s conference is tomorrow night. I’ve accepted the invitation on your
behalf because you said you were going. I’ve informed Master Carrel that you will be attending. Are you coming
home tomorrow?”
John curled his lips and answered gently, “Caprice and I will come back tomorrow afternoon. I don’t plan to bring
Caprice to the event, so I have to ask you and Mother to take care of her for me.”
“I’m more than delighted to take care of Caprice. I’ll tell Mother right away. She’ll be happy about it,” Julie said
delightedly.
The next day, after a delicious meal at the restaurant with
Caprice, John went home to the Stocktons’ residence.
Madam Stockton and Julie were waiting for them.
Madam Stockon was over the moon when she saw them
back. She strode over and reached out to the little girl. Caprice, come and give me a hug!”
Caprice obediently held Madam Stockton’s hand.
Madam Stockton picked her up into her arms and headed back into the house while calling her precious.
Julie smiled as she walked John inside. “How’s work, John? Is everything with the business trip going okay?” John
hummed a reply.
“Great. Everything is in order at home. Queenie has been obedient, and other than Mother missing Caprice,
everything is fine,” Julie answered gently. John smiled. “Thank you for taking care of the house while I’m away.”
“John, come on. We are family. It’s my duty to take care of things here on your behalf,” Julie immediately said.
When they walked into the living room, they saw Caprice in Madam Stockton’s arms while Queenie played with her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmJohn sat on the couch while Julie sat on the couch beside him.
Julie said, “John, do you want to get prepared? The conference is in a few hours. I heard from Master Carrel that
Young Master Sager is attending too. He also mentioned that the person who helped the Sagers overcome their
company’s crisis two years ago is coming along.” John was intrigued. “He’s attending?”
“Master Carrel said it himself, so it must be true.”
Queenie, who was playing with Caprice, turned to them curiously. “Brother, Julie, who’s that mysterious person?
What did he do to help the Sagers?”
Julie smiled. “The Sagers have been trying to change their image for several years, but the outcome was not ideal.
They almost wasted all their savings before a mysterious person who appeared out of nowhere helped them. The
person’s idea was to revive their nightclub business, which they never took seriously. It grew big and swiftly
expanded into a chain of more than a dozen outlets in Coastrock and its neighboring cities in just six months.
“Not only did it help the Sagers overcome their bankruptcy crisis but it even helped them expand into other fields.
He’s the reason why the Sagers were able to return to their peak in just two years.”
