Chapter 998
' We talked about something else too, but I mainly want to find out if he knows anything about his uncle. But, he
doesn't seem to know much."
Keegan scoffed. "It'd be strange if he does. His parents aren't really close with Irene, and they don't talk with each
other much. No one in the Moore family is happy with Irene's husband either. They didn't even allow them to have a
wedding ceremony after receiving the marriage certificate, and Marshall has only met with him a few times."
Stella was shocked. 'But, Marshall's mom seems very close with Irene at the jewelry exhibition back then. How can
you be so sure?"
Keegan said flatly, "They were just putting on a show for outsiders." He paused for a moment before continuing,
"Marshall had a brother who was two years younger than him, but he accidentally choked on a small toy and
passed away."
Marshall's parents were out shopping at that time because Frederick was very happy that Irene had come back
from studying abroad. He prepared a grand welcoming party and insisted on organizing it at home. Because

So, both of his parents were told to go out and do the shopping. Everyone in the family was busy doing something
for Irene. No one was there to look after the two children, and that was how the accident happened.
Because no one was around them, nobody knew that Marshall's brother was choking on something. Marshall was
only three or four years old at that time, and he had no idea why his brother could not breathe. He went to the
adults for help, but all of them thought that he was just playing around, so they ignored him.
By the time the nanny went upstairs to check on Marshall's brother, his face was already purple, and his heart had
stopped beating.
When they sent him to the hospital, the doctor told them that it was already too late.
Ariel was so shocked that she passed out on the scene.
In fact, there was no need for them to leave the house since the nanny could have done everything forthem.
However, Frederick insisted that Marshall's parents should do that instead because he thought that the nanny would
not be meticulous enough. Ariel was still in the breastfeeding stage, and she was so worried about her younger son
getting hungry or needing to get his diaper changed that she would call the nanny for updates every half an hour.
The nanny told her that her child was doing fine, yet something like that had happened.
Marshall's parents confronted the nanny. However, she claimed that Frederick asked her to do something else, and
she had told Irene to check on the kids.
But, Irene said that the nanny did not speak to her about it at all.
The child lost his life due to the adults' negligence, yet no one in the family took responsibility for the tragedy. Ariel
even called the police, but all the police could do was find out the cause of death, and further legal actions would
have to depend on the court.
Frederick thought that their family’s reputation would be tarnished, so he fired the nanny and prohibited anyone in
the Moore family from ever talking about it. In the end, no one was held responsible for what happened.
Then, Keegan said, "No matter whose fault it was, it all happened because Irene came back. Otherwise, the nanny
wouldn't be doing anything else apart from looking after the children. Do you think that Ariel could ever let this go?"
Stella felt a chilling sensation all over after listening to Keegan's words.
She finally knew why Keegan said that they were just putting on a show. It was simply impossible for a mother not
to hold resentment toward a person who caused her son's death. Any mother in the world would have a difficult

Stella sighed and softly said, "I feel so bad for Marshall. He was right there with his little brother. I wonder if any of
the adults blame him for what happened. He was only three years old. He was probably frightened."
Keegan paused and pulled her face closer as he said in a deep voice, "Are you feeling bad for another man?"
Stella was speechless.
Then, she shouted angrily, "It's natural human emotions, okay? Don't you know who else I feel sorry for? I had such
a hard time sleeping last night. I would've just left if it weren't for the rashes all over your body!"
Keegan felt very happy, yet he said, "You clearly took up most of the bed, and I was the one getting squeezed into
the corner despite being the patient."
Stella gritted her teeth. "I'm a chicken if ever go back here to take care of you!"
Keegan chuckled. "I still prefer you to be a human." He handed her the file as he spoke. "Take a look. It's something
you wanted."
Stella took it and said, "A property transfer contract?"
Keegan kept quiet.
"No. It's an organ transplant contract."
Stella was speechless.
