Chapter 157
Shortly after sending the messages, Cynthia received a phone call from Old Man Neal. Cynthia answered quickly,
“Grandpa.”
“I hope I’m not disturbing you.
“No, not at all.’
“Do you have any plans tomorrow evening? Mom and Dad are back after settling their matter on hand, and since
you and Joshua are getting divorced soon, I thought we could have a meal together,” Old Man Neal asked.
Cynthia remained silent for a moment. They had just had dinner on Friday… Although it was only Moses and Old
Man Neal, it still counted as a gathering.
“Mom really misses you. She’s been talking about you since she returned yesterday. Why don’t you talk to her?” Old
Man Neal added.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“No need,” Cynthia declined. She could not handle Mrs. Neal Senior’s sugar-coated manipulation. “I’ll come over
tomorrow evening.”
“Great, great!” Old Man Neal suddenly became delighted.
After wishing each other a good rest, Cynthia waited for Old Man Neal to hang up the phone. She felt a bit tired at
the thought of going to the Old Neal Manor tomorrow and rubbed her temples. Then, she placed her phone on the
bedside table to charge before freshening up.
That night, Cynthia slept deeply. Perhaps it was because she had been busy all day, and her energy was completely
drained.
While she was in a deep sleep, Joshua had trouble falling asleep.
He was not even thinking about whether what Jayleen said was a lie. Instead, Joshua’s mind was filled with thoughts
of how Cynthia felt when she was with Mitchell.
Did she really know what kind of person Mitchell was?
The more he thought about it, the more complicated his mood became.
In the end, Joshua was overwhelmed by drowsiness and fell into a deep sleep.
The next day, Cynthia requested a housekeeping service to clean the room while Joshua went to the company.
At exactly ten o’clock, Mitchell appeared downstairs at the Neal Group. After stating his name, he was allowed in.
Yoel personally took him to meet Joshua. His heart pounded rapidly as he looked at the two equally powerful figures
in the office. He was truly afraid that the two of them would start fighting in the office.
After all, their heights and physiques were so similar that Yoel could not really tell who was more formidable.
“Go about your business. I have something to discuss with Mr. Cyrus,” Joshua instructed Yoel.
“Alright, Mr. Neal.” Yoel promptly slipped away. He understood Joshua’s implicit meaning: no
one should disturb their conversation during this time.
As the door closed, Joshua stood up and walked over to the sofa in the office, sitting directly across from Mitchell.
“If I were you, I wouldn’t have the guts to show up again,” he said.
“What do you mean, Mr. Neal?” Mitchell pretended not to understand, deliberately teasing
him.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Do I need to remind you about what happened between you and Cynthia yesterday?” Joshua retorted, his eyes
colder than usual.
Mitchell adjusted his gold-rimmed glasses, smiling faintly. This particular demeanor was something Joshua despised
the most. He felt that Mitchell was extremely hypocritical, always. using the most casual tone and expression during
discussion.
Even if you exposed him, he would simply smile lightly and ask, “So what?”
Sometimes Joshua did not understand what was wrong with Cynthia’s judgment, getting involved with someone like
Mitchell.
Did she really not know that he was a deceitful person who would never reveal his true intentions?
“Cyn told me you think we slept together in the hotel,” Mitchell said in the most nonchalant manner, no longer
addressing her as ‘Cynthia”.
