Chapter 464
“H–He called me three times!” Jayleen’s hands were shaking. “What should I do?”
Cynthia calmly instructed, “Call him back. If he asks why you didn’t answer the calls, tell
him that your regular phone suddenly went black and stopped working, so you went out
and bought a new one.”
“Will he believe me?” Jayleen was very worried.
“He will. Remember, if he asks who you called after buying the new phone, say it was a
telemarketer. And if he asks why you turned off your phone, tell him that your new phone
suddenly ran out of battery,” Cynthia assured her.
As she spoke, Cynthia deliberately connected Jayleen’s newly purchased phone to the
computer with a data cable and rapidly drained its battery. Then, only when the battery
level reached live percent did she recharge it.
The devil is in the details.
Jayleen’s new phone was not connected to the internet, so there was no way for the other
person to check its status.
Thankfully, Cynthia had brought a computer and a data cable to avoid any potential

“He won’t be able to find our call records,” Cynthia reassured her. She explained so much
to Jayleen primarily to cover all bases. “And most importantly, your old phone was missing
for a day when you returned,”
Jayleen was confused and did not fully understand the meaning of Cynthia’s statement,
but she did not ask further.
With a mixture of emotions, she dialed the number, as she had done every time before,
feeling fearful
“Why did it take so long for you to answer the call?” The person on the other end sounded
emotionless.
“My regular phone suddenly went black and stopped working. I just went to the phone
store to buy a new one, and I forgot to bring this phone.” Jayleen obediently followed
Cynthia’s instructions.
“Is that so?”
“Yes
“Why was your new phone turned off? And who called you before you turned it off?” the
man on the other end suddenly asked.
After destroying her previous phone, he had been monitoring her regular phone number
and decided to check it once he saw a signal. However, he could not find any information
due to the lack of internet connection. Then, he called her regular number, not expecting
her to be in the middle of a conversation
To his surprise, she had just purchased a new phone and was already in contact with
someone, which made him suspicious
Jayleen’s heart suddenly raced, and she looked at Cynthia in disbelief.
How could be…..
How did he know?
“Jayleen, you should know the consequences of betraying me.” The man’s voice, though
pleasant, sent shivers down one’s spine involuntarily.
“I didn’t betray you…I turned off my new phone because it ran out of battery. The person
who called me was a telemarketer.” Jayleen’s voice trembled in fear,

“Okay.”
Jayleen complied and promptly answered, “It’s turned on now.”
The man fell silent and did not speak

Following instructions, the woman tapped on the keyboard
After a while, Jayleen’s call records appeared on her computer screen. She listened to the
conversation, confirming that the content matched what Jayleen had said, and nodded
toward the man.
The man was surprised!
“I’m telling the truth……” Jayleen did not hear the man’s voice and nervously spoke as if
genuinely afraid of being falsely
accused.
The man’s gaze darkened, completely different from how he had treated her before.
“Why did you conspire against me with someone else?”
