For some reason, she found this information slightly unsettling.

“Before the incident at Queneska Island, did you and Joshua make any sort of deal? Just

tell me. In the future, if you need my help, I’ll assist you once free of charge.” Cynthia,

after careful deliberation, posed her question.

Sean was surprised to hear that.

Such a tempting offer. Cynthia’s fees were quite high. However, the success rate was

always one hundred percent when she lent a hand.

“This puts me in a difficult position,” Sean confessed, his tone gentle.

Cynthia did not respond.

After a long pause, Sean finally made a decision, “Telling you now wouldn’t make any

difference. Moreover, I promised Joshua that I wouldn’t.”

“I can’t.”

Sean was firm.

Recalling her previous negotiation with Sean during the rescue mission, Cynthia spoke,

“You remember what you promised when you asked me to bring Yves to save Joshua,

right?”

Sean paused, recollecting the conditions set by Yves: one billion US dollars and a favor

owed to Cynthia.

“I remember…” Sean’s response lacked certainty.

“The favor I ask is to dissolve your deal with Joshua,” Cynthia asserted herself.

“About that… it’s too late.” Sean began hesitantly

Cynthia was taken aback.

Sean remained silent.

“What was your deal with him?” Cynthia inquired further.

“Hello? Ms. Yates, can you hear me? Is the signal bad? Sean began to play dumb,

pretending the signal was poor.

Following this, he promptly hung up the call.

However, Cynthia was not about to let him off the hook

She dialed him immediately, not giving him a chance to turn off his phone

Sean rubbed his temples, wondering for the umpteenth time why Joshua was involved

with Cynthia. This put him in a difficult position

“Is the signal better now?” Cynthia’s voice was indifferent, but Sean could tell she was

her.

After careful consideration, he said, “The signal is good now.”

“I need to know the details of your deal with Joshua,” Cynthia reiterated,

“I really can’t disclose that. According to the initial conditions, I should tell you, however,

the contract I signed with Joshua specifies that under no circumstances should I disclose

any details of the deal to anyone.” Sean seemed somewhat helpless, his eyes betraying a

swirl of emotions.

“In order of precedence, I must first honor my contract with him,” Sean explained

everything in one breath.

Cynthia pursed her lips.
