Just as Zheng Tianyi pondered the idea of Chen Xing, a quiet ding ran throughout the room. Chen Xing was close to finishing the clean-up when she received the message that Zheng Hechong had arrived at the company.
Disgruntled upon being interrupted by his own father, Zheng Tianyi sighed and stood up from the chair. "Direct him to a private meeting room."
Chen Xing was confused when she saw the slightly ignited desire in his eyes but tried to not think much of it. Perhaps it was just a trick of the light...
She typed into her tablet and lead her Boss to the private meeting room. Along the way there, she could feel a heavy stare on her bottom and she felt a blush creep up her neck. She was wearing a tight pencil-skirt today, the dress enhancing her silhouette.
Zheng Hechong was already waiting for his son inside of the meeting room, his expression a mixture of rage and exhaustion.
Without another glance towards Chen Xing, Zheng Tianyi strolled into the room as she closed it behind him.
She stood outside, unable to hear a single thing being discussed by the enraged Zheng Hechong and equally upset Zheng Tianyi. She could tell through the window on the door they were originally bickering, most likely about Xia Mengxi being completely useless to the family. The conversation had then changed to more serious matters — the drop in stocks and revenue. Seeing as their faces were not as dark and glum as before, she knew they were probably discussing solutions and ways of mending this rift.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThe only thing that Chen Xing could do was stand outside and pray that whatever plan they came up with would succeed.

The next day, Zhao Lifei decided to resolve her conflict with Lu Minhong. Early in the morning, she ordered the private kitchen to be cleaned and set up for her to use. As the kitchen was being prepared for her, Zhao Lifei went to the greenhouse located not far from the garden to handpick some of the fresh, organically grown vegetables.
She spent a majority of her morning cooking all of Lu Minhong’s favorite foods. She packed it in well-insulated containers and delicately placed them into a lunch bag. Afterward, she cleaned herself up and changed into a new set of clothes.
Holding the lunch bag close to her, Zhao Lifei looked left and right down the hallways. There was no servant in sight. Perfect.
She sneakily went downstairs using the hidden passage. She walked with stealth and expertly kept herself hidden from the servants.
She was glad this path was only known by the Old Butler, her grandfather, and Li Xuan, so none of the servants could disturb her here. Once she got to the garage, her eyes lit up in glee when she saw the multiple lines of cars. Her grandfather was an avid collector of vintage cars and the garage was filled with them.
However, she knew he would have her head if she touched any of his precious babies without permission, and so, she chose to settle with a different car in the far back. She thought it’s strange he would own the latest model of a Bugatti, but figured it was probably a gift to him.
She walked to a specific panel on the wall that was expertly hidden. The slab blended into the wall, and if it wasn’t for the fact that she used to sneak out of the house a lot when she was in high school, she wouldn’t have known where it was.
She knocked on it exactly four times. A click sound could be heard before the panel slide to the side, revealing a medium-sized safe. After typing the twenty letter password, scanning her fingerprints and eyes, then answering a few questions, the safe finally opened to reveal multiple car keys. She peered in and grabbed the key with an intricate B.
She heard a bit of commotion upstairs and knew the servants had discovered she was not in her room. If her luck didn’t run out, they would think she was in the kitchen.
Not wanting to waste time, she hurriedly climbed into the car and drove it out of the garage. She pressed on the gas and drove onto the main pavement that led to the front entrance of the mansion. It was a five-minute drive from the mansion’s main entrance to the gated entrance down the hill.
She slowed the car down and popped her head out the window. "Open the gates." She nodded to the guard, praying the message hadn’t spread that fast yet. The security guards exchanged glances, but after a stern glare from her, they reluctantly entered a combination that opened the gates.
When it opened, she saw the computer in the personal guard’s room flash red. She already knew the message. Without warning, she stepped on the accelerator, and the car roared to life. She sped down the street and drove the wheels to their limits. Once she was on public streets, she slowed down the car, knowing it was too late for them to come after her.
After a few seconds on the main road, the Bluetooth flashed and she sighed. Her grandfather was already calling her. She picked up the call. "Grandfather."
"Xiao Fei." His voice was disappointed, irked even. She could already picture a deep, disapproving scowl on his face.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"I’ve obediently rested in the house for two weeks now. It’s so boring in there. Doctor Sun said I’m healed." She quickly said, stopping the car at a red light.
"You left without permission. There better not be a single scratch on my vintage cars." He recalled the Doctor did indeed give him the green light that she had properly healed. Nonetheless, he was still worried about her condition. She was still too thin and he was concerned she might injure herself again.
"I didn’t come within a meter of them." She chuckled, not daring to touch his precious babies. Sometimes she thought he liked the cars more than he loved his blood-related relatives. Seeing her grandfather’s apathetic treatment towards her father, her uncles, and aunts, she knew that theory had a high chance of being true.
"I took your least favorite one, the Bugatti." She knew her grandfather disliked modern cars, especially one that stood out too much. The car she was driving was last year’s newest edition. The person probably thought her grandfather loved any type of car, when in reality, he only liked the older kind with their antique charm.
"Hmph, at least you didn’t lose a few brain cells from the injury." He said, pleasantly surprised at her words.
He had forgotten about that car. It was a gift from his foolish grandson, the youngest one that didn’t know a single thing about him. This insincere gift brought the poor kid to the bottom of his acknowledgment list.
Zhao Lifei chuckled at his crude remark. "Of course not."
"Where are you going?" He asked her, viewing her location on his tablet. He had personally attached trackers to all of the cars.
"To visit a friend. I’ll talk to you later grandfather, I’m still driving." She vaguely said, not daring to mention Lu Minhong’s name.
"Fine. We’ll talk about this issue during dinner." He hummed, hanging up the phone. He turned towards Li Xuan.
"Find out where she’s going. Send the bodyguards there. Tighten the security this time. History cannot repeat itself." He sternly ordered.
"Yes, sir." Li Xuan bowed and excused himself to fulfill the command.
