Chapter 723 Breaking News
Xander was initially surprised by what Rosalie said but then found her answer reasonable just about a split
second later.
After all, ever since he had gotten to know Rosalie, he had known she was not a shy person.
When that thought appeared in his mind, Xander gave the woman sitting in the backseat an appreciative
glance.
Rosalie had a neutral expression but a determined look in her eyes.
Xander felt his heart flutter when he saw the expression on her face.
The traffic was slightly congested, and the two barely made it to the restaurant in time.
They had expected Stacy to already be there. However, they did not even catch a glimpse of Stacy when they
arrived.
Upon seeing the empty table, the two exchanged glances. They both had a feeling that something was off.

Rosalie nodded in agreement. She felt slightly uneasy but did not know where this feeling of uneasiness
stemmed.
"Xander, have you guys arrived already?”
Stacy’s voice rang out the minute she picked up the phone.
Xander had put his phone on speaker. He gave a noncommittal grunt as he asked in response, "Where are
you?"
Stacy, who was currently lounging in the cafe next door, said in an apologetic voice, "I’m so sorry, please give
me a few more minutes. I’m caught in traffic. I thought I’d left early enough, but...”
Xander and Rosalie exchanged glances when they heard that. It sounded odd, but they could not find any
faults with Stacy’s excuse.
It was true that traffic was not the best at this hour.
Rosalie’s place was not far from the restaurant, but it had also taken them half an hour to get here.
If Stacy had set out from the Hudson family’s house, it would take her an even longer time on the road.
When that thought occurred to Xander, he responded," Got it. No need to rush. Drive safe.”
A mocking look appeared in Stacy’s eyes, but her voice remained sincere as she replied, "I’ll probably still
need quite a good while, so don’t bother waiting for me. I'll get the waiters to start serving the food.”
Xander was just about to turn the offer down when he saw the waiter walking over with plates of food. Thus, he
had no choice but to allow it as he said, "We’ll wait for you.”
Stacy hummed in response as she hung up the phone. Then, she immediately made another call.
Rosalie and Xander had no idea what she was doing and genuinely thought she was caught in traffic.
They stared at the plates of food on the table, but neither of them began eating.
Firstly, their host had not arrived yet, which meant they had no reason to begin tucking in. Secondly, both of
them felt that something was not quite right.

Rosalie frowned as she looked around her, but she did not spot anything odd. Thus, she told herself that she
was overthinking and forced herself to suppress the uneasiness she felt.
The two discussed their collaboration half-heartedly as they waited for Stacy to arrive.
Lights flashed from a grove of trees outside the restaurant where the two could not see.
Stacy sat in the cafe next door and had just finished drinking her cup of coffee leisurely when her phone lit up.
Stacy glanced at her phone before picking it up.
The person on the other end of the line was brief. "Got the photos.”
Upon reading that, Stacy raised her eyebrows slightly as she smiled and replied, "In that case, I'll be waiting
for your breaking news tomorrow.”
"Thank you for your kind words,” the man replied in a deep voice.
Stacy did not respond as she hung up the phone.
