Chapter 1179 Card Dealer
Ashlyn added nonchalantly, “In this world, there exists a type of person known as a genius, understand?”
This was the first time Herald had heard someone refer to themselves as a genius.
He glanced at Ashlyn, then at Samuel, finding the former eccentric.
He wasn't sure whether or not to believe her words.
After all, there weren't many who would call themselves a genius.
He was in doubt when he heard Samuel chuckle. “You sure love to joke.”
“Don't say I didn't warn you. Since you don't believe me, let's get started.”
Ashlyn nodded her head. She didn't shuffle the cards. She glanced at Herald and said, “Shuffle the cards.”
Herald was speechless.
Is she ordering me, the highest-ranking minister in Zaewora, to shuffle cards for her? Who does she take me for?
However, what left him even more speechless was that he actually went ahead and shuffled the cards. By the time
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇthe realized what he was doing, he had already finished.
This... is utterly baffling! Why do I have to obey this woman's commands?
At the sight of Herald shuffling the cards, Spencer almost burst into laughter.
He couldn't help but mouth the words, “Ms. Berry, you're awesome!”
Lucas, who had been sitting next to Ashlyn all along, lazily crossed his long legs, an affectionate smile flashing
across his handsome face.
My wife must be a genius.
Everyone else was staring at her with wide eyes as if they had seen some kind of monster.
Herald was highly respected. He was seen as someone unreachable, second to none after the President.
Even the Vice President would show courtesy when meeting Herald.
Yet, Ashlyn had actually told him to shuffle the cards and he had obediently done it. It was preposterous.
Herald wished the ground would swallow him whole.
Why did I obey this woman's command? I didn't even know why I did that. Seeing the powerful aura radiating from
her, I just found myself submitting. Darn it! I'm the Minister of Defense!
He had truly lost all his dignity.
He was silently regretting when he heard Ashlyn's cool voice ring out again. “Well then, the one with the best card
wins. Best two out of three?”
Samuel gave a subtle nod.
“In the interest of fairness, Mr. Cook, please deal the cards!” Ashlyn once again instructed Herald without any
hesitation.
Herald decided that he would not be reduced to a mere card dealer this time. He cleared his throat, ready to
refuse, when he heard Ashlyn say, “Only you are qualified to deal the cards here, after all, Mr. Cook. You hold the
highest position.”
Herald's face darkened. If I don't deal the cards... does that mean my position isn't high enough? I'm dealing the
cards because I hold a high position? That's why I'm qualified? Darn it!
He found himself unable to refute.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmReluctantly, he picked up the stack of freshly shuffled cards and began dealing them out, one for Ashlyn, one for
Samuel.
Spencer was so frustrated that he felt like his insides were tying themselves into knots.
He really wanted to laugh out loud.
Ms. Berry is really incredible!
Lucas stared intently at Ashlyn, his eyes twinkling. He felt an unusual radiance emanating from her.
After receiving five cards, Samuel began to look down to check them.
He glanced at his cards, flipping them over one by one, a sigh of relief slowly rising from the depths of his heart.
However, as he lifted his head, he saw the slight curve of the lips of the woman sitting across from him.
For reasons he couldn't quite grasp, a sense of unease began to stir within him as he gazed into the woman's
radiant black eyes.
“Please show your card.”
Herald diligently carried out his role as the card dealer.
Samuel directly showed his cards.
