Chapter 1218 Losing Flying Fish
Everyone assumed the Cooks had a close relationship with Mysterious yet Majestic, so people usually showed them
some respect.
As implied by its name, Mysterious yet Majestic was a discreet yet powerful organization. Ordinary individuals would
not dare to provoke them.
Hence, they held the Cook family in high regard due to their connections.
Herald was infuriated by Hugo's actions. He had always been overly polite when talking with Flying Fish, to the
extent that he was embarrassingly obsequious. Fortunately, Flying Fish was not the type to act all high and mighty
just because of his status.
Herald had hoped that, as his relationship with Flying Fish grew stronger, Flying Fish could introduce him to the big
shots from Mysterious yet Majestic and perhaps arrange a meeting with them.
By doing so, he could establish a network with Mysterious yet Majestic and gain access to their contacts.
Instead, Flying Fish became extremely upset and even given him a stern warning that their friendship would be over
if Herald continued to spread the Trojan horse virus.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAdditionally, Flying Fish also told Herald not to mention to outsiders that they were good friends. The former also
prohibited him from revealing that he knew someone from Mysterious yet Majestic.
How is this any different from cutting off ties with me?
Herald's heart surged with overwhelming anger, wishing he could just smack Hugo to oblivion.
How am I supposed to get by after cutting off ties with Mysterious yet Majestic?
Several other prominent families watched him closely, like a tiger eyeing its prey. It was not an easy feat for him to
secure a ministerial position at such a young age and being second to none.
Will I be able to maintain my position without Flying Fish's support from now on?
He looked at Hugo with utter disappointment. “Dad passed away early, so I've always pampered and spoiled you.
But look at you now! Is this how you repay me? Your mother always thinks I'm harming you, but take a look at
what's going on here! It's you who has jeopardized the entire Cook family. If I can't maintain my position, I'm afraid
your tenure in the Department of Information won't last much longer either.”
His words shocked both Martha and Pauline to the core.
“How did things get so serious?”
“Herald, Hugo is still young, please forgive him just this time!” Martha and Pauline pleaded at the same time.
“He's still young? How many more times should I tolerate him and excuse his mistakes? The whole Cook family's
reputation hinges on our relationship with Flying Fish; it's the only reason people show us any respect. If Flying Fish
and I sever ties, then... Don't hold me responsible if the Cook family falls into decline. Put the blame on him! He
gave the Trojan horse virus to Sloan, who then planted it in the computers in Section Six. The President entrusted
the new energy project to me, but can you believe what's happening now? We've not only offended those in Section
Six but also angered Flying Fish.”
The two women of the Cook family were dumbstruck, and Pauline's face was especially pale.
She felt the pain as though Herald had slapped her repeatedly.
She looked at Hugo in disbelief, “Hugo, is everything your brother said true? If the new energy project with Section
Six falls through... it won't just be a slap from your brother you'll be facing, you'll end up in jail!”
Both Martha and Pauline stared at Hugo in utter disappointment.
Hugo was the youngest son in the family and also the most favored one. Their eldest managed the family business,
and he was nothing like the youngest who spent time at home and was pampered by everyone.
Hence, Herald and Hugo were not close.
Great! Just look at what the youngest son in the family has done now.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmHugo clenched his fist so tightly that his nails nearly dug into his palm.
He dared not say a word because he hadn't expected Sloan to do such a thing.
In the end, he had created problems for his own brother and even brought disaster upon the Cook family.
He just wanted to make some money. He felt that it was useless for the Trojan horse virus to be kept on his
computer when he could actually exchange it for some cash.
His thoughts were just that simple.
No matter how doting Martha had always been towards him, she could not hold back her temper at that very
moment. She picked up her walking stick and struck Hugo fiercely. “What on earth is wrong with you? Speak up!
Why would you do such a thing? Have you lost your mind?”
How did the entire Cook family maintain their powerful status up to that very day? Who were they dependent on? It
was all because Herald knew Flying Fish.
Before Hugo could finish his sentence, a commotion was heard outside of the manor, accompanied by the butler's
hurried footsteps and voice. “May I ask about the purpose of your visit, gentlemen? Please allow me to inform Mr.
Cook.”
