Chapter 136
Just as Reginald was about to call the meeting to an end, a familiar voice rang out from a corner of the room.
Liam stood up then, pulled a bewildered-looking Celena out of her chair, and asked, "Celena, you are the mastermind behind this project, so are you going to allow someone else to take it out of your hands? No one else can take anything away from you if you don't let them, and I won't allow them to do so either!"
The entire room fell silent.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtCheryl immediately leaped to her feet and pointed indignantly at Liam and Celena, "Liam, this has nothing to do with you! You have no right to dictate what our family does! You're just an outsider, and you shouldn't stick your nose into our business! Besides, what does Celena know about this project anyway? She shouldn't take over something she's not familiar with!"
Sherah, too, stood up in fury and snapped, "Shut up, Liam Cole! You're just an orphan, and it's already kind enough of us Stones to take you in, so you'd better stick to only what you know and mind your own business. You have no right to intrude in the way our family does business!"
Seeing that Sherah was about to get into an angry dispute with Liam and Celena, Teresa added rather indignantly, "Hey, Sherah, it sounds like there's a lot of drama going on among your family members. Are you even sure Cheryl can handle this project well with everything that's going on? You remember what Dad said—you wouldn't want Cheryl to get into trouble!"
"Teresa is right! How can you ignore Celena just like that? Didn't you say that Celena was the one who even got us the collaboration opportunity in the first place? If so, why are you handing the entire project over to Cheryl when she didn't even do anything? If anything the responsibility should be shared between Celena and Cheryl. I think you're just biased toward Cheryl. You could care less
about Celena, but remember—Cheryl's going to leave you in the end when she gets married off to her husband!"
The color drained from Cheryl and Sherah's faces. They both turned to stare at Reginald, both worried that he would change his mind after hearing this. To their dismay, Reginald appeared deep in thought, contemplating this.
Cheryl and Sherah exchanged worried glances. Things did not appear to be going as they wished!
Qemal turned to glance at Celena. "What do you think about this, Celena? You should make up your mind!"
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmCelena clutched her sleeve nervously like a guilty child. She glanced first at Reginald, then at Cheryl and Sherah, and muttered, "I- I-"
She never went through such a vicious family feud before and did not know how to even begin managing this. Her mind went blank.
All of a sudden, Liam reached out to grasp her shaking hand. The warmth of his palm spread through to hers, calming her nerves and finally recentering Celena until she could start thinking again.
"Believe in yourself, Celena! Don't be afraid. You can't spend the rest of your life living in fear anymore. Think about what you and Jovie have been through! Believewhen I say that no one can take away what's yours!" Liam reassured her.
Liam's words made Celena's racing heart slow down and she finally found her bearings again. She turned to gaze at Liam and finally reached a decision.
Liam was right! There was nothing for her to be afraid of. If anything, she had to be strong, both for her and for Jovie's sake!
She should not have to live the rest of her life in fear anymore!
She was now a part of the Stone family, and she had all the right to participate in the family's major decisions. She could not cower behind someone else anymore. She was responsible for creating a better life for herself, Liam, and Jovie!
