Celena turned to stare at him with a look of bewilderment. When she saw how overjoyed he was, however, she wrapped her arm around his neck and nodded, her eyes brimming with tears of joy. She was grinning from ear to ear. She took the marriage certificate from him and scrutinized it.

Liam was so happy that he spun Celena around in his arms, the two of them giggling in sheer elation.

Although it was a split-second decision to get married, neither of them regretted it even one bit!

Celena still refused to put down the marriage certificates even after they returned home.

"Where have you been, Celena? I've been looking for you for ages!" All of a sudden, Sherah emerged out of nowhere, followed closely behind by Qemal.

Celena quickly hid the marriage certificates behind her and stared at Sherah and Qemal with a puzzled look. "What are you doing here? Why were you looking for me?"

Sherah immediately caught sight of Celena hiding something behind her back. She thought Celena had taken something from Stone Mansion, and that was why she was behaving so strangely. She pointed to Celena and demanded, "What are you hiding, Celena? Show it toright now!"

"No, nothing. It's nothing important." Celena wanted to dodge Sherah, but Sherah could already see it coming. She immediately grabbed hold of Celena's arm and snatched the marriage certificate out of her hands. She gasped when she saw what it was. "A marriage certificate? Celena, I can't believe it! You've married this scumbag? Are you insane? You can do so much better than this scum of a man right here! What on earth is wrong with you? You're so f*cking stupid! You married him just because he convinced you to?"

Although she was not fond of Celena, she still thought that Celena was a useful pawn for the Stone family and that she could be used in the future to be married off to another powerful family in an arranged marriage. That way Celena could finally prove herself useful to the Stones, but this could never happen again now that she got married to Liam!

Celena tried to explain herself, "Why are you so surprised? He's Jovie's father, and we love each other! Why can't we get married?"

"You love each other? You've only met each other a handful of times! Don't you remember how Jovie was conceived? He got drunk and took advantage of you seven years ago, and yet you claim you love each other? How stupid are you? Why did you choose to be with him over a nice, rich, and handsman from another powerful family?"

Sherah was so outraged she felt she would burst a blood vessel at any point now. They would becthe laughingstock of the town once everyone found out that Celena and Liam got married! She did not want to be ridiculed by the public, and she did not want her children to have to go through the mockery of being related to a sl*t like Celena! Sherah stepped forward and grabbed hold of Celena's arm. "Cwith me! You're going to divorce him!"

The color drained from Celena's face. She struggled against Sherah's grip but could not break free. She burst into tears. "I don't want to."

Liam stepped forward and pried Celena free of Sherah's grasp, then held her in his arms protectively and turned to glare at Sherah. "Mrs. Stone, please don't overstep your boundaries! You're not Celena's mother—you're only her stepmother, so you have no right to dictate what she does!"

With that, he pulled Celena closer to him and continued, "Celena is my wife from now on, and I will do everything in my power to protect her. I don't care what you think, but Celena and I will never get

divorced, not now, not ever! I'm warning you, you'd better show Celena srespect from now on, or else!"
