Chapter 240

Catherine's POV

I took a few sips of the hot drink. It tasted good.

Suddenly, the door was pushed open, and Blake cin. He looked atwith a smile on his face and walked toward me.

I stood up, and in the next second, he pulledinto his arms.

His smell was so familiar, and it madewant to stay in his arms. I closed my eyes and enjoyed the moment quietly.

"You never cto visithere," Blake complained as if he felt hurt because of this.

I couldn't help but laugh out loud and didn't know what to say.

"I know you are busy and I don't want to disturb you!" I comforted him. If there was anything that I needed to discuss with him, I could always leave it till night when he got back home.

"I don't care. You simply don't care aboutthat much!" Blake complained.

"Of course, I care about you. That's why I married you."

Blake took a step back and looked down at me. "You are so independent. I used to think that women should be like this. But now, I just hope that you can be less independent. I hope you can cto me and be needier. I want you to surprise me. How's that?"

I was stunned. I didn't expect that Blake would say such words. I realized that he was right, and I wasn't active enough in our relationship. So, I lowered my head and whispered, "Sorry. Did I give you the cold shoulder?"

"Yes!" Blake said frankly. "You've been givingthe cold shoulder all the time, Catherine. You know what? I'm afraid of being alone, and I want you and the kids to be withall the time!"

He seemed sad. I wondered how che was suddenly so sensitive and emotional. I pursed my lips and smiled, "Of course, the kids and I will always be with you. Unless you don't want us anymore!"

"How could I not want you? How silly!" Blake reached out and messed up my hair. "Let's go eat now!"

I arranged my hair with my fingers and complained, "I am not your daughter. Don't stroke my head like that, OK?"

"Bite me!" After he finished speaking, he pinched my cheek.

I entered the room next door. There were nice dishes and wine on the table.

"Did you prepare these?" I was surprised that there was a dining room next to his office. I could see the blue sky from the window and the view was great.

"Yes. I prepared these for you." Blake pulled the chair for me, and I sat down in a daze.

Blake sat across from me. He poured half a glass of wine for me. "You like wine, don't you?"

I was a little embarrassed and took the glass from him. "You don't mind, right?"

"No. It's good. You'll be more relaxed after drinking," Blake showed an evil smile.

I looked at the exquisite dishes and they looked yummy. I was a bit hungry at first. But after what Blake had said, I felt something other than hunger.

Blake sat elegantly opposite me. I couldn't believe that I was already addicted to him, though it had been just a few months.

"What are you thinking now? Why do you keep peeping at me?" Blake smiled and asked curiously.

I froze for a second before shaking my head. "No. I wasn't."

"I'm good-looking, right?" Blake said.

I was amused by his words. "Stop being a narcissist."

Blake smiled, and it was a self-mocking smile. He said, "I'm worried that I'm not your type."

"But you are! You are my mate," I replied. As soon as I blurted it out, I regretted it. Blake was so scheming. He was trying to makesay that.

Blake seemed happy. He said, "I am your type. You like me. Why didn't you tellearlier?"

I was having a hard tgoing on with this conversation. He kept making traps, and I walked right into them without realizing them at all. Damn!

Blake continued, "Patricia askedlast tif you had a drinking habit."

"What did you say?" Since it was Patricia's question, I becserious immediately.

Blake smiled and said, "I put in a good word for you, of course."

I heaved a sigh of relief. I suddenly thought of something and said lightly, "Emily was also there when Patricia tookto the banquet yesterday!"

"I know. Patricia likes being accompanied by her when going out." Blake didn't find it strange.

"Emily was targeting me!" I said.

"Then fight back. You can be tougher than her. And in Patricia's eyes, you have the kids backing you up. You don't have to be afraid of Emily!" Blake suggested.

I laughed out loud. "So, you're not going to help me, are you? I'll have to rely on myself from now on, right?"

"It depends. If it's a war between women, I think you should learn to deal with it yourself!" Blake replied seriously.

His words made sense. I said, "You're right. I was planning to solve it myself anyway. Patricia is so nice to me. Yesterday at the party, she defendedin all ways possible. I am very grateful."

"I'm glad to hear that. That's how Patricia is. She always looks out for her people," said Blake.

We finished a bottle during the meal, and I drank more than Blake. The atmosphere was so good, and somehow, I drank a bit too much.

After the meal, Blake tookto his lounge to rest.

I leaned on the sofa lazily. Suddenly, I felt a tall body press down on me. In the next second, Blake started kissing me.

I had been waiting for him to kiss me, and I was surprised that he was more eager than me.

"Catherine..."

"Yes?"

"Say you love me." Blake was wandering around my neck.

"No!" I tried to upset him deliberately.

"No?" Blake kissed harder on my neck.

"Stop it!" I said to him with a smile. I felt powerless, for I was a little drunk, intoxicated with the feelings Blake had madefeel.

The two of us had already been all over each other on the sofa at spoint.

In the blink of an eye, an hour had passed!

I was so tired that I almost fainted. When I opened my eyes, I saw Blake standing up and walking to the bathroom.

I closed my eyes and took a nap. By the tI woke up, Blake had already been sitting next toin a suit. He said, "Go back to sleep. Don't go to work this afternoon. Have srest here."

"No. I need to go back to work." I sat up and pushed him. "Just leave. I'll be out in a minute."

He touched my face. "Alright. It's up to you."
