“What are you doing?”

Before Candice could say a word, Alex’s loud voice cfrom behind.

Candice frowned. “I just wanted her to make changes to the document.”

“You want her to make changes to the document? Alex sneered. He stared at Candice coldly.

Candice immediately knew what that meant. He probably thought she was ordering Sonia around like

before.

Surprised, she explained, “This document is by Sonia

Before she could finish, Sonia tugged at Alex’s sleeve. Her eyes were still teary and her voice was

hoarse, “Alex, it’s not like that. I was just thinking about my father in the past couple of days and I made

smistakes.”

Candice’s lips moved, wanting to speak, but her words were caught in her throat.

She looked at Alex and waited for him to speak instead.

“Sonia is having a hard tbecause of her family. You can deal with this on your own,” he said coldly.

He then brought Sonia into his room.

Candice stood in front of Sonia’s desk for a while before she left with the document.

Later in the afternoon, the whole company knew about Candice trying to give Sonia a hard tand

was scolded by Alex.

When Candice headed to the toilet, the word escalated into Candice trying to take advantage of Sonia

while the girt’s father was hospitalized.

The gossip made Sonia the poor Cinderella, Alex her prince charming, and Candice the wicked

stepsister.

It sounded so vivid as if someone was there recording the whole scene.

Candice was not bothered. She went into the toilet, washed her hands, and left without saying a word.

The gossipers in the toilet were left embarrassed.

The document was the one Sonia did wrong.

Candice stopped packing her things and said to the intern, “I’ll redo for Mr. Nelson. You can go home.”

The intern thanked her and left the office.

Candice was left alone in the spacious office, working late because someone could not fulfill their

responsibility.

Halfway through editing the document, her phone rang.

The worker from the nursing hinformed her that Joe was hit by a bike when he was on the way

back from school and asked her to cto the hospital right away.

Candice immediately packed her things.

As soon as she exited the elevator, she bumped into Sonia and Alex.

The girl was no longer crying, her eyes were as clear as crystal when she whispered to Alex.

Candice simply glanced at them and walked away.

However, Sonia was persistent. She released Alex’s hand and ran in front of Candice, stopping her

with a sincere and apologetic look. “Candice. I’m sorry. I couldn’t control my emotions this morning and

got you in trouble. I heard what the others have been saying.”

Candice was in a hurry and she lost control of her temper.

Sonia was stunned but she held Candice’s hand tighter. Looking like an innocent bunny while

aggrieved, she could melt hearts..

“Candice, you don’t likea lot, do you?”

Candice looked at her phone impatiently. She tried to pull her hand back but maybe she put too much

strength into it, Sonia lost her grip and fell on the floor.
