Candice looked up. “What’s up?”

Hanley held a box and placed it in front of Candice. “When I went to see Zane today, he asked me

to give this to you.”

Candice was slightly stunned. The box contained a new series from Blue Artifact. When she had last

met Zane, she had casually mentioned her interest in the series. “Zane is quite considerate,”

she said.

With that, a book was suddenly placed in front of her, and Hanley lowered his gaze, his voice slightly

deep. “Stop looking at the computer. Cout and take a break. Ryan and the others. suggested

going out for dinner tonight.”

Candice happily agreed but also urged Hanley to leave. “I have to discuss matters with Jessica next

week. I need to finish this proposal.”

Listening to the vague sense of familiarity in her tone, Hanley’s eyebrows moved imperceptibly.

While Candice was enjoying herself, the atmosphere was less than pleasant elsewhere. Sonia and

Kayla glanced at her and sneered. “Why is Alex’s grandfather here? Don’t you know? Speaking of it, it

in the afternoon.

With a gentle and obedient smile on her face, Sonia deliberately softened her voice. “Grandpa Elysian,

this is the tea I brewed for you.”

The old man was sitting with his eyes closed, resting. He looked up, startled when he heard her

voice.

Sonia froze.

When she had entered, she had thought the old man looked kind and gentle, resting with his eyes

closed. She had thought that he would be a kindly and amiable old man. However, as soon as he

opened his eyes, there was no trace of kindness in them. Instead, they were sharp and piercing.

Caught off guard, Sonia did not know how to respond.

The old man held onto his cane as he looked at her and asked, “Who are you?”

“I–I am Mr. Elysian’s secretary.” Sonia stammered.

“If you’re his secretary, why do you callGrandpa Elysian?” He had once single–handedly brought

the Elysian family to its glory, and when he becserious, his energy was terrifying.

Sonia, feeling uneasy under his piercing gaze, mumbled, “I’m also Lex’s girlfriend.” She had thought

that the old man would soften his attitude when he heard that she was Alex’s girlfriend.

She was about to adjust her expression and speak again when she heard the old man sternly say,

“One million dollars, leave Alex.”
