I see her brown hair in the grass. She isn't moving, so I race to her faster and flip her over.

"Jena! Jena, talk to me." She groans and then coughs.

"I haven't been thrown around in a while, this sucks." She tries for a joke.

I shift again and nuzzle her onto my back. I won't be able to run as fast if she doesn't hang on, so I hope she figures that out quickly.

More growling sounds behindas more wolves join the fight. So much for having a thirty minute head start. I take off. I can't look back any more.
