116 Lisa; Sooner or Later, I Will Find The Truth (1)
(Jane’s PoV)
How many days had passed since I returned to my hometown? I wondered.
I didn’t go out much. I preferred to stay at home and meditated. Three days ago, Sanji finally came and he said that he had taken a leave from his job to solve the problem regarding my father. I was really grateful for what he had done, but I was at lost when he first stepped into the house.
Even though the house my parents left me was a bit far from the other houses and it had high privacy protection -such as high fences made from bricks and stones, I was still unsure of letting him stay with me under one roof.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThere were four bedrooms in this house; one was mine, one was my parents’, and the other two were left for guest. Technically, I was the only one at home so three bedrooms were empty. But, I couldn’t invite him in and stay with me. As much as I wanted to do so and ignored the people talking, I couldn’t do it. Unless I wanted the neighbors would call the elders in the area and reprimanded me. I still had to maintain my parents’ dignity and showed them that they had raised me to be a well and proper girl.
Fortunately, Sanji didn’t even mention about it. After he had ensured that I was fine, he said that he would live in a rented room nearby and to call him whenever I needed him.
That was so sweet of him.
He would always come by when the sky was bright and return to his dorm when the sky had darkened. Sometimes, some of my high school friends would come. Thus, no neighbors would complain that I was being alone with him in the house. The presence of my housekeeper had also helped to lessen the curiosity of the aunties. Being a nosy auntie herself, my housekeeper was so ‘generous’ to explain the relationship between me and Sanji.
I learned a lot from Sanji about the other dimension, even though his information was not as specific as Siji’s, but at least I knew the stereotype of these ghosts when they came out and scared people from human’s perspective. While what Siji had been telling me was impressive, but that came from an adviser of White Army. Of course, he wouldn’t think of these ghosts as anything dangerous since he was much more powerful than them, but Sanji was different.
.....
Sanji’s opinion on ghost was what I called ‘normal reaction’ for human to see ghost. Siji would never say that Kuntilanak was scary either for its laughter or weeping, Genderuwo was ugly for its strange form, or anything scary related to them. But, Sanji would say the things that human would normally notice and cause the fear inside them escalated to the point they would feel terrified.
Both of them had provided me with the best information I could ever get, but somehow I felt something was missing from it.
After several days in my hometown, I met with a young woman a few years older than me. Her name was Lisa. It was our first time meeting, but I felt like I had known this woman for years. We hit it off right away.
Even though she was older than me, she didn’t like me calling her ‘sister’. So, we called each other’s name, which would sound rude for some people but we didn’t care at all.
I met her under special circumstances, actually, and her personal being was not the first thing that attracted me, to be honest.
I was doing my morning jogging when I saw her coming out from a big iron gate. Her expression seemed off but she maintained her courteous smile on her face. Again, that was not the thing that attracted me to her.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmWhat attracted me was the fact she was followed by some powerful guardians. They could be her family, or just guardians, I didn’t know.
So, I hastily approached her, finding the best excuse to talk to her. I know, I might sound like a desperate boy trying to get a girl, but I was curious! Not to mention Siji knew her and her guardians.
I was lucky because Lisa was an easy going girl. She was easy to approach but later on I found out that it was because I was a girl that she didn’t feel cautious around me.
As I talked to her, I found out that she had just lost her brother three months before. She had just visited his grave as well as her father’s grave that morning. At that time, I realized the area which was surrounded by high walls of bricks and iron, a big house kind of fences, was actually a family cemetery.
I mean, what a special cemetery!
Whatever, that’s her family’s problem.
Anyway, I was talking with Lisa when I met one of her guardians’ gaze. I didn’t feel threatened or scared by the sharp gaze, but I could feel the power under that gaze. For a moment, I felt loss because I was stared at so suddenly.
Before I could speak, the old man who was staring at me shifted his gaze towards my back. I sneakily looked behind my shoulders and noticed that Siji and some of the White Army were standing there. The one who was being stared at was Siji and Siji was obediently bowing his head solemnly.
I might have just known Siji and didn’t know his past, but after conversing with him, watching him, and observing him, I knew that he was a proud man. He practically bowed his head not to anyone. Even my first impression on him was not that good.
But, he was so obedient in front of this elder. Who is he?
