267 Inviting The Attackers

(Jane’s PoV)

“What if this person doesn’t have any higher level shadows with him?”

“That’s impossible. What kind of Shamans wants to deal with my father but doesn’t have one or two powerful shadows with them? The one who has grudge with my father must have known about my father’s ability, so there’s no way he only has low level shadows.” I refuted quickly.

“Make sense.” Sanji nodded his head. “Even my father said that your father wasn’t someone to be trifled with.”

Hearing him mention about his father, I had a sudden thought. This person here, didn’t he miss his house? He had not met any of his family ever since he followed me in my journey. It wasn’t like I didn’t like him accompanying me, but wouldn’t his parents ask him to come home?

I switched my gaze towards Tom. There was also this man. His mother must have worried about him a lot. After all, after he woke up from his long sleep, he only met his mother for a while before he directly went to find me.

Come to think of it, I felt like a witch who charmed young and vigorous men to stay with me. Was I sinned?

I shook my head lightly to get rid of the ridiculous thought. I didn’t ask them to come. Even without them, I still had Siji to accompany me. However, there was one thing that I was really grateful of from the presence of them. I must admit that the distraction coming from these two young and hot studs were enough to keep rational and alive. I couldn’t imagine what I would be if I were to drown myself in studying about spiritual power, energy, and astral world. Their presence was like a brake for me to stop indulging my new attained power.

I would question about it later in another occasion where we were pretty much free from anything urgent matter. They deserved a nice vacation to meet with their parents and had a good time with them.

.....

Tom lightly tapped my head. “What are you thinking about?” He asked gently.

“Nothing.” I shook my head, then walked away casually. I thought the next attack would come in a few days when the backlash this person was suffering got better. It turned out I only needed to wait for a couple of hour when the next wave of shadows came surrounding the house.

They obviously didn’t come just from one person. Just how many people hated my father? Not to mention, these shadows were all wicked to the core, higher than the previous ones.

“Now, I really want to know the mastermind.” I pursed my lips in annoyance.

“Then, we will trace them back.” Tom smirked. He was cracking his knuckles full of vigor.

“Should I help?” He asked, knowing fully well that he would be refused.

“Don’t you dare.” Tom growled at him without looking back. These two men always liked to compete with one another. I really didn’t need to lift a finger with these two men around.

Before Sanji could do anything to disrupt his plan, Tom had sprung into action. If any normal person would accidentally pass by my house, they would probably say that Tom was a lunatic. However, even the densest person would sense that there was something dangerous in the air and would choose to avoid the nearby environment. The rumor of haunted house was enough to keep people away.

It didn’t take too long for Tom to wrap things up. The moment the sun was almost going down to hide, the one-sided battle was over. Thin strands of chain-like thing were tying them up together. It looked like they were about to break away from the chain, but knowing Tom’s power, it was impossible for them to escape from the seemingly fragile binding.

“Should I call them here? Or should we go there?” Tom asked after he took a rest for a while, admiring his work in the process. The sky gradually got darker and the sun completely disappeared from the view. The three of them were sitting in the terrace under the bright light of the lamp, watching over those shadows as well as the ghosts which were happily coming out from their hiding place and joined the others who had been roaming the world since the beginning.

I pondered for a while before making a decision. “Since they like to use shadows instead using more humanly ways, I won’t hesitate and invite them here. Go ahead!”

Tom nodded and calmly started his maneuver while sitting down with crossed legs and closed eyes. His thin chain pierced the dark night and disappeared from our sight. We waited while eating some snacks in the terrace, watching the ghosts passing by the front of our house as if they were passersby. I remembered the first time I saw them so many that it was almost as if they were humans, I was startled and shocked a couple of times and it was hard to get used to it. However, now, it looked so normal to me.

“People always say not to come out during dusk, especially the children. Turns out they were right. The temperature’s drop can make anyone feel uncomfortable. Stronger people have the most resilient body, even so, they will drop faster than the ones who don’t go outside during the dusk. The accumulation of cold air in their body can lead to numerous disease. Not to mention the negativity in the air will be easily transferred to their body at this particular time. Especially when they are weak to begin with, it’s easy to catch some bad things from the street unintentionally.” I sighed.

“Aren’t we fine? Of course, I can feel the chill, but other than that, I don’t feel anything.” Sanji reached out his hand and tried to sense the air.

“It’s fine if it’s just because of cold. Are we normal human? With just the energy of five White Army Men can repel those low level bad things, how can they harm us? Normal human don’t have the privilege that we have. It’s easy for them to be under the influence of negativity. That’s what they should be wary of.”

“Then, is there any other way for them to protect themselves?” Sanji frowned.

“It’s easy, actually.” My eyes caught the sight of someone I knew passed by the front of the house. “You see, that’s what I called a protection.” I nodded towards that person and Sanji followed the direction of my eyes.

“Isn’t he your neighbor? That’s the man from the nearest house from here, right?” Sanji squinted his eyes and took a good look at that man.

“Yes. Can you see the white mist around him? He starts working precisely during the dusk. If he stays at home, he won’t be able to earn money to feed his family. But, his protection is always with him whenever he goes out.”

“What white mist? I can’t see anything.” Sanji said seriously.

I looked at him in disbelief. “Under the dark night, the white mist is so eye catching and you say you couldn’t see it? Stop looking, he’s gone already.”

“I really couldn’t see it. What white mist do you see? And why is that?”

“Most people forget that they need to pray for protection whenever they go outside. It’s just a simple pray, yet because of their hectic activity, they forget about it. That man, however, knows the importance of the pray. He rarely forgets about it. The white mist is the protection from the pray. It looks soft, but it is actually strong. Its effect is different for each person. But, the least it can do is to protect the prayer for low level creatures that brings negativity and harm. It’s easy to heal a cold, but once negativity has entered your body, it will bring a destruction to the person and his or her family.” I shook my head.

Sanji nodded his head after he heard my explanation. Seriously? He didn’t see the white mist? I thought it was pretty clear. “I see. The key is actually that simple. It’s so simple that many people disregard it. It’s a pity.”

“That’s why, tell your family to pray before they go outside. But, seriously, you didn’t see the white mist?” Peering into his eyes, I only found confusion inside. It was a sign that he really didn’t see it. “Never mind.” I turned my body back at Tom who was still struggling with the ‘invitation’.

“Are they refusing my invitation?” I asked him.

“A little bit.” Tom responded with his eyes closed.

“Do you need any help?”

“Nah, just stay still. I’ll be done soon.” He said calmly.

True to his words, in less than two minutes, I could see something was being pulled from the dark night towards us. Tom’s thin chains returned with several spirits being tied up on the other end of the chains.

“Delivery completed.” Tom stood up while smiling excitedly as soon as those spirits stopped right in front of me.

These are the spirits of living people!
