270 Mysterious Force Behind The Shamans (3)
(Tom’s PoV)
The fact that someone was possessing a spirit was a proof that whoever behind this action was not an ordinary person. He was even more capable than these shamans. The question was if this person really was more capable than these shamans, why would he pay them to haunt our house? Why would he do that? Did he have so much money and had nothing to do to the point he paid other people to prank on someone? Ah, he might be just another shaman being paid by the true mastermind. Judging from how he knew her, this person must be someone she knew.
“Who are you? Why did you send these shadows here?” I asked him or her, whoever this person was. It was hard to identify the gender since the voice changed from a man to a woman randomly.
“You don’t need to know who I am-.”
Cliché, I said inwardly, but didn’t interrupt him.
“-Because you don’t know who I am, as well. Hahaha.”
This man -or woman-, is he trying to crack a joke? What a lame joke!
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Uncle, I don’t remember who you are, but could you, please, tell me the reason behind your action? Why did you send shadows to haunt my house?”
“To disturb your father’s peaceful life, of course. How dare he came out of seclusion and got a wife? He, who embraced the path of shaman, should abandon the worldly desire and devote himself to the path of immortality!”
.....
“Jane, this person is lunatic.” I whispered to her helplessly. What immortality? Was that word even exist in real world? This person was being delusional and a mad man didn’t know any boundaries.
“It’s a pity that your father isn’t here. Then, I’ll curse you in his stead. He can come to me if he wants to lift the curse. Girl, just say to your father that as long as he kneels in front of me and begs for my forgiveness, I will stop disturbing your life.”
“Uncle, you’re sick. Go get treated before it affects other people. You should get your head checked up.” Jane sounded so done with this pointless conversation.
It was easy for us to struck down that shaman, but the mastermind would run away if we did so. No matter what we did, that man would still escape. Therefore, instead of using our power, we just let him talk.
“Young girl, your mouth is poisonous. Did your parents teach you to say that to a person?”
“Are you a person?” Jane inquired with an expression of ‘are you stupid?’ very clear in her face.
“Uncle, just in case you forgot, to curse someone you need to make one of your shadows to affect her, or us. But, do you see any of your shadows coming into contact with any of us? Are you blind?” I reminded him out of my good heart but half-mocking him in the process.
The mysterious man went silent as he looked towards us for a while. I arched my eyebrows, taunting him to do what he said he would do to us.
“Well, it seems to me that you spoke the truth.”
Is this man’s brain okay?
“But, I don’t see any issue here. It may take longer time than usual but it doesn’t mean I can’t.” His grinned was so creepy and his threat was even stronger than before.
A person who could curse a Master of Astral Army? He sounded pretty confident with himself. Perhaps, he was stronger than what we thought.
“Then, I shall excuse myself.” The man waved his hand and the puppet shaman fell down like a broken kite. The mysterious man came and went quietly without any trace. From the beginning to the end, he had shown his might but we ignored it. Now that he has gone and I sent back the shadows along with their master, the house returned to its tranquility state.
Jane was looking at the sky silently. Both Sanji and I didn’t want to interrupt whatever it was running inside her head and just let her be. She was walking down the path in the garden towards the side garden in slow pace. She would occasionally look up and sigh, or lost in thought while looking down on the pebbles.
It had been going on for near ten minutes and honestly it made me worry. I suspected that she had a plan in her mind and she didn’t even consider us in whatever she was thinking about. It was like she was lost in her own world, the one that she created where everything that had happened was her responsibility.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm“Jane?” I tried to call her, with an intention to remind her that she still had us with her, to back her up and to help her anytime she needed us.
She seemed to snap out of her trance, and maybe she just realized that we were behind her the whole time. She looked back at her with a realization in her eyes.
“Did you forget about us?” I joked with her.
The way her eyes widened in shock made me realize that what I had been speculating about was true. She did forget about us!
“Ah, I’m sorry.” She hastily approached us with an apologizing smile on her face. Her arms spread wide to hook on our arms and pulled us towards the door at the same time. “Let’s get inside. It’s getting chilly here.”
Sanji and I exchanged a knowing look and let her drag us into the house. The warmth of the house sent the chilly sensation away as soon as we stepped inside the house. As usual, we treated our Queen as best as we could give her before we sat face to face to talk about what had happened. Jane didn’t seem tired, but I personally felt her exhaustion from the way the light in her eyes changed.
We had not had the time to talk deeply about the invitation from the Kings, yet we were attacked by a mysterious force who claimed he could hurt her; a Master of White Army. He didn’t sound like he was bluffing, and we knew that we must not underestimate him. He could control someone’s spirit, it was a clear sign that this person was strong enough to face us.
Unfortunately, we didn’t have any clue regarding the identity of this mysterious person.
“Sanji, aren’t your father best friend with mine? Do you think he knows about this person?” Jane suddenly looked up after contemplating for a while, her expression clearly showed that she was grasping onto a glimmer hope that was Sanji’s father.
“I’ll try and ask him, then.” Sanji said so, but I saw something in his eyes that wasn’t resemble an excitement for finally finding a clue.
