Chapter 20
By eleven, they left as planned, accompanied by three people from Kage's company. The meeting took place in
the upper part of a mall where the three officials were already waiting Hope we didn't keep you waiting for too
long?" Sylvie asked with a warm smile as she took her seat next to Kage.
'Not at all. It's nothing to worry about," One of thein said with a wide smile
Sylvie noticed there was a certain way he looked at them.
‘Look at you both, you use to be a thing" he said at last. "You look so cute together. Whatever happened?" He
was an older Sgure and sounded more like a father speaking to his children. Sylvie couldn't control the rush of
heat that ran up her cheeks, Jeez
She shifted uncomfortably in her seat, clearing her throat. She noticed Kage glance at her before lowering his
head to the files in front of him that he had been trying to sort. ‘Let's just go
t go to the business of the day, Mr. Antonio," he said in his usual grumpy tone,
Yeah, right. The business of the day.
The meeting lasted for over an hour, and when it finally cto an end. Sylvie was relieved that she was finally
getting food to cal.
Their companions went their way to get their own food, while Kage led her to a different floor. Of course, he
couldn't eat with the others.
Sylvie wasn't surprised when he'd already made a reservation in the VIP room. It was a large room with tall large
windows that provided a breathtaking view to the city outside. They had flowers on the four corners of the room,
and well, it smelt extremely nice to Sylvie, she wanted to them.
Unlike Westley, Kage didn't bother pulling out her seat for her. Not that she cared, anyway.
They both took their seats after which, a waitress cin to take their orders. She had a friendly smile on her
face.
Sylvie had a hard tmaking a choice as she went through the menu. It was as though, she wanted to eat
everything and nothing. She hated days when it felt like that
Kage placed his own order while she still struggled with hers.

She bit her bottom lip. Fine
She flipped over to the Italian page. "Just getthe Minestrone soup, and marinated olives I'd prefer a glass of
freshly squeezed orange and apple juice. And she glanced at another page. "Do you have chocolate sticks?" The
waitress tried to hide her surprise behind a genial smile. "Yes, ma'am. We'll get started on the orders, she dipped
her head and left.
"What sort of weird appetite is that? Don't you eat at home?" Kage pinched his brows together as he asked
Sylvie remains silent, not wanting to say anything implicating.
While he busied himself with his phone through calls and emails, Sylvie played games on her device. With each
passing second, she grew impatient and wanted to have those meals before her.
She was supposed to bring up the land issue before Kage, to speak on Westley's behalf, but she didn't know if it
was the right tine Plus, his reaction stared her. Perhaps, it be best not to ruin her mood before eating Chapter 20
Minutes later, their orders were served. Sylvie wasted no tin devouring them, although she tried her best to
maintain
composure.
She'd read that it was normal for pregnant women to eat more, but hers seemed extreme. Perhaps, if only her
mum was still alive to provide her with sguidance.
"I really think you should calm down, Sylvie. You eat like you've been abducted and starved," Kage said along the
way.
It was hurtful for Sylvie as she thought she'd been keeping her composure.
Well, I'm carrying your babies, asshole, and have been starving she was so tempted to say.
"Well, sorry, Mr. Hawkins, do | embarrass you? Would you, perhaps, want to have the room to yourself?" She
struck out. "Not necessarily," Kage shrugged. "You just make it seem like you haven't been feeding properly
since you left." Sylvie's eyes widened by a degree. W *Has anyone ever told you how unnecessarily proud and
arrogant you are, Kage?" her face was crumpled up in a frown. He gave that nonchalant shrug. "Aside some
relatives, no one has ever been bold enough to say it to my face."
"Well, now I am. You have the worst kind of character!"
"Yet here you are - sticking around."
Sylvie looked down at her plate, taking several deep breaths. God, how she wished she could grab her bag and
walk out of that room, out of the deal, out of his life. How she wished she could shove her middle finger in his
face and show him she didn't need him: But that w Her grip on her cutleries becso tight, she wished she
could stab it into something.
Kage noticed her anger and chuckled. "Ease up now, will you? It was merely a joke,"
Sylvie's hold on the cutleries lessened, but she didn't continue eating.
"Even after all these years, you're still a bully. She looked up at him. "Shabits never really die, do they?"
Her blue eyes were locked on his, and for a moment there, a moment less than a second, there was a flicker of
guilt in his eyes. But then ur was Kage, she had probably seen it wrong
"Good habits don't exactly get your wallet fat, does it?" He smirked. Now, that was the Kage she knew,
Shaking her head, she continued eating. "You always have to have the last word, don't you?" "Well, someone's
got to have the final say, night as well as be thr one with all the intelligence."
Sylvie scoffed. It was totally impossible to win him in a word fight.
Memories of the times he'd bullied her in high school cflooding her head. Even if she had been stubborn and
always fought back, it didn't change the fact that he had been a real jerk.
