Chapter 584
Serenity hesitated for a moment before she replied, “Actually, I’m quite happy working at this place.
Besides..
She paused for a moment and then continued speaking with an eamest expression, “Jack, I’d like to
continue relying on myself. If I joined your company and people found out I’m your girlfriend, I’m
worried that they’ll put me in a token position
who gets paid for doing nothing.”
“Isn’t that good?” asked Jackson.
“At the very least, I’d like to see how far I can make it on my own. I don’t plan to work as a delivery
driver all my life. I’ve been reading some research papers in my free time, and I hope it’ll help my future
career,” explained Serenity.
She already had a rough idea about her career development.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtUpon hearing her reply, Jackson frowned slightly as he stroked her reddened cheeks.
It hurt so much that she gasped silently
“Let’s go back and treat your wounds. Also, didn’t I tell you to call me whenever you need help? Why
didn’t you call me?”
He wondered what would have happened if he hadn’t come today.
Serenity awkwardly explained, “Oh I forgot.”
After all, everything had happened so suddenly. During her confrontation with her father and
stepmother, she had completely forgotten about calling him.
There was a flicker in Jackson’s eyes. Didn’t that mean that whenever she bumped into an obstacle,
the first person she relied on was not him but herself?
“Remember, next time you find yourself in trouble, come to me. Don’t forget what I said!” reminded
Jackson.
“Okay, I’ll remember!” Serenity felt a warmth in her heart. “You know, you didn’t have to slap Catherine
just now. I can’t imagine the legal battle that will ensue if she decides to sue you‘
“Let her come,” said Jackson nonchalantly. His slap was a reminder to everyone that he would
physically retaliate if anyone dared to harm his girlfriend.
“Why did they come looking for trouble today?” asked Jackson.
“I’m guessing it’s because they thought I had something to do with Aria’s breakup with Lucas.”
At that moment, Serenity thought of something which made the whole situation laughable. “It might also
be that they just wanted someone to vent their frustration on, so they’ll continue thinking the breakup
wasn’t Aria’s fault but someone else’s.”
“Really?” Jackson’s gaze darkened. “Don’t they know that I’m your boyfriend?”
“Maybe, but I’m pretty sure they know by now,” replied Serenity.
After returning to the Valor Residence, Jackson found a first–aid kit and treated Serenity’s wound
himself.
“Would you like me to deal with your father and stepmother?” he asked.

asking her this. He would have wiped them off the face of Solaria without any hesitation.
“Forget it, we don’t need to go that far. After what happened today, I don’t think they’re gonna attack me
in the future,” said Serenity before slar yawned.
The whole incident today had made her exhausted. It was only 8 o’clock in the evening, but she was
already feeling sleepy.
“Sleep early,” said Jackson.
“Yeah.” Serenity nodded. She then laid down on the bed and fell asleep shortly after.

sitting on the edge of her bed, Jackson gazed at her sleeping face. A moment later, he got up and left
the room. As he made his way downstairs, he made a phone call.
“Where are you now? I’d like to see you.”
In a clubhouse owned by the Gomez family, Lucas sat alone in a private room as he made himself tea.
The wall of the room was a one–way mirror, meaning he could see everything outside, but no one
could look into this room.
