438 Chapter 438 Learning about fusion.

“And that was what happened.”

The story was pretty simple in a way, as Desmond was aware of almost everything that happened while he was a part of Harmony. What Desmond hadn’t expected was to be unconscious for seven days, much less Kyuru being in a deep sleep for most of that time.

Grabbing an aqua rabbit leg from the fire, Desmond passed the skewer to Cecilia and continued eating. Hungry after spending a week recovering, Desmond wasted no time preparing something to eat. Picking up his own rabbit skewer, Desmond looked at Kyuru as if he expected some response.

“It is so obvious?” The fairy commented.

Desmond chewed on some fragrant rabbit meat first; admittedly, those stupid aqua rabbits were at least delicious. The meat of the aqua rabbits was very juicy and had a delightful but mild flavor. With the right herbs, it was not difficult to prepare a delicacy. Swallowing the meat into his mouth, Desmond answered the faery.

“For some reason, I cannot remember those last moments as Harmony. So I don’t know what he was talking about before he disappeared, but that doesn’t seem to be the case with you. You may be the most beautiful and mischievous fairy in the world, but you’re not very good at hiding a secret.”

Kyuru just snorted in response and continued to gorge herself on food. The faery wanted to at least enjoy her food before talking about serious matters. Desmond did the same; the hunter knew the fairy very well, so he didn’t take his capricious attitude seriously.

Cecilia was perhaps the most oblivious to the situation. Not only does the matter involve Harmony, that beautiful but strange amalgamation of two beings. But it also seemed to have something to do with some of the secrets the faerie kept to herself. Although Cecilia didn’t know much about it, her interest was now in something else... the prophecy that Katya had given her.

According to the archangel’s words, Desmond was not only destined to save her and bring her out of the darkness, just as he had made. But he was also destined to become someone essential to her. In fact, there was much more to be inferred from Katya’s words, but Cecilia didn’t want to think about it.

.....

Since the things in the prophecy had been coming to pass one by one, Cecilia would wait and see how things unfolded. If nothing else, Desmond had proven himself to be trustworthy.

While Cecilia and Desmond’s views on the world couldn’t be more different. The fact that Desmond was willing to give her his name and fight for her was enough for Cecilia to follow him to hell. As for the obvious romantic implications of the prophecy, Cecilia wasn’t ready to think about it.

Subconsciously, Cecilia touched her lips with her fingertips as if she remembered a sensation. Desmond noticed this but didn’t say anything. He understood the pain of losing someone and seeing that life extinguished in front of your eyes; those kinds of wounds would take a long time to heal if they ever did.

Perhaps enjoying a rest and patience he hadn’t had time for in the past, even after he finished eating, Desmond didn’t question the faery. Instead, Desmond took advantage of the remaining embers, took some things out of the hunter’s book, and started making tea.

Desmond’s calm and collected demeanor was something new to Cecilia. Since they met, Desmond had always been on guard against everything around him. Always shrewd and focused, even when Desmond displayed a playful attitude or licentious behavior, Cecilia eventually understood that it was all an act.

In the end, Kyuru couldn’t take any more of Desmond’s apparent calm and began to confess what she knew. At the same time, his partner enjoyed his tea with a satisfied smile.

“Unlike you, who is a human being. I am a fairy; my existence borders on the spiritual plane, and from there derive some of the abilities you have seen me use. Hiding in the spirit realm while using you as an anchor is one of them, my skill as an empath is the same. In the case of spiritual fusion, it is something possible for many spiritual entities. Still, it is not something common for different reasons. For now, I won’t talk about these reasons, but you have to understand that this ability, although rare, is part of who I am. You are different; spiritual fusion is not something you have innately, so it is heavier for you to endure the process. Furthermore, our spirit fusion is unexpectedly powerful. Still, that power does not come from nowhere, and using it places an even greater burden on us.”

Desmond wasn’t stupid; he understood that human beings were inherently different from fairies. Such differences went beyond physical abilities and characteristics; even how a fairy sees the world is different from how a human does. It was expected that the burden of forming Harmony would be other for both of them. However, Kyuru’s explanation at least made it clearer.

“Is that why you can remember better?” Desmond asked with interest.

Kyuru, now in her child form, stood with her arms crossed in front of his chest and took a pose that said: I know everything under heaven. And she educated the ignorant of his life mate.

“That’s part of the reason. As I said, this is part of who I am. In the first instance, spiritual fusion is not only extremely rare, but it usually occurs between two spiritual entities, so some variables are added to the mix.”

Sitting on the air itself, Kyuru crossed one leg over the other and adopted a position of a teacher giving a lesson to a useless student and continued explaining.

“The skills I use are beyond the reach of mana, aura, and arcana; they are special as the unique skills of celestials. Also, as a highly spiritual entity, my awareness and sense of self are much higher than that of human beings. Obviously, our bodies and minds process fusion differently no matter how much it tries to make us one.”

Desmond picked up some interesting points in Kyuru’s words that caught his attention. He had benefited from Kyuru’s spiritual abilities when the latter used them to help keep his wounded soul stable. However, Desmond was never clear on the details of Kyuru’s empathic abilities.

On the other hand, Desmond was also quite interested in what the faerie knew about the Celestials’ abilities. In fact, Desmond had asked the faery about it in the past. Back then, Kyuru said she didn’t know anything about it, but now it seemed that wasn’t entirely true.

Desmond was about to ask about it, but seeing the faery take out a pair of mana-made glasses just to enhance her teacher image, Desmond changed his mind. No matter how sexy or adorable Kyuru might get, her arrogance made Desmond want to intimidate her.

Also, it was a little weird to see a person the size of a six-year-old act like that. To make matters worse, when Kyuru grew, she grew proportionally.

In other words, she had the exact fatally seductive figure as always, but she was the same height as a little girl. All of the above, added to her haughty teacher attitude, made for a hilarious image to which Desmond had little resistance.

Of course, hell would freeze over before Desmond could hide anything from the mischievous fairy. Sensing Desmond’s taunt, Kyuru formed one small mana chalk and sent it hitting the hunter’s forehead. Desmond almost cursed in pain, but he managed to take it.

“Would it kill you to watch less TV? Only little girls imitate what they see on TV.”

Kyuru ignored what Desmond said and reverted back to her original form, leaving behind her teacher attitude from an old TV series. Oddly enough, Kyuru put on a solemn expression before looking at Cecilia and speaking.

“In any case, because I’m a fairy, I can better remember what happened while we were Harmony. I also clearly remember what Harmony felt before he disappeared. Even if Cecilia hadn’t said anything, I still would have remembered. It’s just that I didn’t think that person would be able to sense our presence from where she is.”

“Is that person someone you know?”

Kyuru showed an extraordinarily complicated and awkward expression but still responded. “Well, she’s kind of my mother.”

Both Desmond and Cecilia almost spit out their tea at that moment; they both looked at Kyuru to confirm that they hadn’t misheard. Although Kyuru had turned her back on them to avoid facing them, she could feel their gazes penetrating her tiny back.

Pouting, Kyuru slammed her little feet into the ground, turned around, and yelled at the pair of idiots watching her. “Stop looking at me like that; you’re going to put a hole in my beautiful back. Will you guys take responsibility if you damage my beauty?”

However, the fairy did not get the answer she wanted. Cecilia and Desmond didn’t seem bothered by her outburst or criticize her for her vanity. Instead, they just looked at her waiting for more answers.

Kyuru snorted and kept silent but gave in in a couple of seconds. “Okay, okay, I’ll tell you. First of all, there is a reason why I said that she is, in a way, my mother. Although she did not give birth to me, she took care of me since I was born and has been like a mother to me. But I’m not the only one; she has cared for and raised many of us. I don’t know how many since not all of them stay home. What I know is that she is the most powerful of us all, and she possesses authority and influence that extends beyond just this planet. Her name is... ”
