Protagonist's Evil System: My Girlfriend Turned Into A Dragon
Chapter 107 Still There?Lucas tried to turn the handle again and once again got nothing in return. He kept turning it as hard as he could, but the door wouldn't move an inch.
"I think it's broken," Lucas said.
"We'll try something else," Luu said, "maybe it just needs some time to wake up."
"What should we do in the meantime?" Lucas asked.
"Keep waiting," Luu replied.
Luu's intentions were actually to see how patient Lucas can be because the next avatar he's about to have is someone that will require time and effort to get along with.
Renexa was one of the strongest Avatars that Izek was able to control, but Luu was sure that even this avatar would be trouble for him.
He was observing Lucas, his actions, his words, also the reason why the system sent them here was to teach him obedience too. 'This should be interesting.'
"How long are we going to wait?" Lucas asked as he glanced at Renexa's body turning small and placing it on Lucas's shoulder.
"As long as we have to," Luu replied calmly.
They had the whole time to wait as the system stopped the outside world anyway, there was nothing for him to rush for but Lucas thought differently, "I'm not trying to be rude, but we should actually start doing something about this damn door."
"If you want to break it down, I don't mind," Luu said.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"I wouldn't do that," Lucas said, "but I think that we should go back downstairs and try to find another way or maybe call someone," Lucas suggested.
This was a small challenge made for Lucas to see if he could overcome it. Luu was watching him from behind, making sure that he won't do something stupid like breaking down the door.
"If you insist," Luu said, "you can go down, but I'll stay here."
"Fine," Lucas said, "I'll be right back."
Lucas left the room and headed down the stairs. The sound of metal clanking against stone echoed throughout the corridor as he walked downwards.
When he reached the bottom of the staircase, he saw that the corridor split into two branches, one to the left and one to the right. He decided to follow the left path and keep walking. After a few minutes of walking, he heard voices echoing all around him.
"It's so quiet," Lucas said as he took a deep breath.
The voices were coming from the other branch of the hallways. He walked closer to investigate the source of the noise, but just when he was about to step inside the other hallway, a voice grabbed his attention, "Hold on."
Lucas froze in place.
"Please stop," the same voice said, "there's nothing to see here."
Lucas couldn't believe what he was hearing; he didn't expect to meet anyone else in this place. He slowly turned to the left and saw that he was standing in front of another door.
This one wasn't covered by black paint, but the door was unlocked and stood wide open. The light inside the room was dim and it revealed nothing but darkness. Lucas stepped forward, but before he could reach the door, he heard footsteps approaching from his direction. He turned around and saw that a man was walking towards him.
"Who are you?" Lucas asked.
"Me? I'm no one," the man replied, "just a passer-by."
"You know who I am!" Lucas said.
"Yes, I do," the man said, "and I know that you're here to search for something, but please tell me that you haven't already found it."
"Found what?" Lucas asked.
The man looked at Lucas, studying him from head to toe, "do you know who I am?"
"No," Lucas said, "are you someone important?"
"Am I important to you?" the man asked.
"Of course," Lucas answered.
"Then it means that I'm someone you care about very much," the man said, "would you like to see what I look like?"
Lucas stared at the man, wondering if he was really crazy and if he was just playing with Lucas' curiosity, "what do you mean?"
"You can see my face," the man said, "if you'll just close your eyes."
Lucas hesitated a bit, "no, I can't do that."
"Why?" the man asked.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏm"Because..." Lucas started, then he paused, "because you seem dangerous," he said.
"That's because you think that I'm dangerous, but I'm not," the man said, "I'm just looking for someone, and I don't want any witnesses."
"This might sound weird, but are you the avatar?" Lucas asked.
The man busted out laughing, "Never heard something funnier in my lifetime," man laughed, "the avatar is far more powerful than I ever was, and not only that he has been here for years now."
"Do you know where he is?" Lucas asked.
"No, and it's the best in you won't look for him." An awkward silence fell between them as the man studied Lucas, and Lucas did the same.
"So, tell me, what's your name?" the man asked.
"My name is Lucas," he replied calmly, "may I know what is yours?"
"Nice to meet your Lucas, I shall remember it forever," the man replied and then lifted his head when he heard the steps approaching, "your master is coming for you, we will meet again." He whispered and disappeared right after.
"He didn't tell me his name," Lucas was left speechless in the darkness by himself. A waterdrop hit his face. He blinked to see that he was standing under a small waterfall.
He took a step forwards towards it and noticed that there was a pool right next to it. It was filled with clear blue water, and its surface reflected the waterfall perfectly.
Lucas looked around to find a way to get out of the underground cavern. There were paintings on the walls, depicting scenes from many different periods of history.
He walked closer and recognized some of them; they were ancient drawings showing the life of the gods. He felt a strange connection to those drawings and he wondered if it had anything to do with his power.
Lucas turned around to see a boy wearing a white robe. His hair was blond, and his skin was pale as snow. The boy was smiling warmly at Lucas, "you must be the protagonist," he said.
"What?" Lucas raised his eyebrows.
"A person who has come to this world to save it," the boy explained, "my name is Oscar, and I'm here to guide you through the labyrinth."
Then a sudden voice called from behind, "Lucas, where have you been?"
