Chapter 449 Good News for Him

Three months went by in the blink of an eye.

Trenton had been trying to convince Jaylon that Reina was dead. Trenton thought that they should stop putting their

resources to search for Reina.

Jaylon would talk back to Trenton every time Trenton said that Reina was dead. Strangely, Jaylon silently agreed

with Trenton this time.

Jaylon had Trenton find a decent cemetery. Even though Jaylon couldn't find Reina's body, he wanted to prepare an

empty grave for her.

The day before the grave was to be made, Jaylon was suddenly informed that a fisherman had seen Reina.

It got Jaylon's hopes up. Jaylon immediately went to see the fisherman.

According to the fisherman, a fishing boat returned to port on the day of the engagement ceremony. Several

people were seen getting off the boat. The fisherman said that one of the women had a similar figure and the same

eyes as Reina in the photo.

However, the woman was picked up as soon as she disembarked. The fisherman wasn't sure if it was the woman

Jaylon was looking for.

It was possible that the fisherman made a mistake.

However, Jaylon believed that the woman was Reina.

To find the black car mentioned by the fisherman, Jaylon expanded the search and checked all the security tapes on

the day of the engagement ceremony throughout the city.

Finally, there was good news for Jaylon half a month later.

It had been more than three months since Reina came to this remote town.

At first, Reina had nightmares. In her dreams, Jaylon found her and punished her for her fake death.

It took Reina a long time to find her peace and learn to enjoy the quiet life of the town.

Summer came. Tonight was the town's annual carnival. Residents would gather to celebrate at a bonfire in the

square.

Some local women gathered in the town square to prepare food, wine, and props for the carnival.

Reina was there to help. A local woman named Ruby Carter asked Reina to bring some meat from the butcher's

house.

Before Reina was about to say yes, a young man who was setting up a bonfire ran over. Pulling off the towel on his

neck and wiping sweat off his face, the man hurriedly said, "Reina's pregnant. I'll go for her."

The man's name was Argus Nielsen. He was tall, with caramel-colored skin and a crew cut.

Argus looked sharp and hunky in his loose vest and black trousers. His masculine arms were quite a treat for the

girls.

Argus blushed a little as he looked into Reina's face.

Ruby laughed, "We need two pounds of beef here. It takes only six minutes

to get to the butcher's house. It isn't that far away.

And two pounds of beef isn't that heavy for Reina. Argus, you're so concerned about Reina."

Argus' face turned even redder. "The doctor said that Reina can't do the heavy lifting. Anyway, I'll go for her," Argus

explained. "Reina, if you are tired, you can go home and have a rest. Don't worry about us," Argus added.

After that, Argus left.

Ruby smiled as Argus went away, "Reina, Argus is an eligible man in our town. He'll be an attentive husband. I'm so

glad you've found a man like Argus.

You're gonna have a happy family after the baby's born."

When Ruby mentioned the baby, the smile on Reina's face faded.

Reina found out that she was pregnant after coming to town three months

ago.

Argus had been pursuing Reina. After knowing that Reina was pregnant, Argus hesitated. But eventually, Argus still

decided to keep pursuing Reina.

It was inconvenient for Reina to live alone.

Argus helped Reina a lot. Reina appreciated what Argus had done for her.

Reina had always wanted to settle down with someone reliable.

Reina was touched that Argus was willing to accept her and even her

unborn baby.

Reina believed Argus might be the one she should spend the rest of her life

with.

It wasn't realistic for grown-ups to talk about love all the time. In fact, marriage wasn't all about love. Most people

just didn't want to end up

alone.

Reina was grateful that she met Argus after what she had been through

with Jaylon.

Reina gently stroked her belly, muttering, "We'll be a happy family."

Local people had been working all morning. At noon, they gathered

together for an outdoor lunch.

Reina had no appetite because she wasn't used to the local food, and she

got nauseous. Therefore, Reina just had little food.

Argus noticed that and said, "Reina, I'll cook you another meal after we get

home."

Argus learned how to cook American food, just to please Reina.

After months of learning, Argus became a good cook. The dishes Argus cooked tasted just like the ones Reina had

been eating in America.

A few days ago, Argus suggested moving in with Reina, so he could cook for Reina every day.

Argus was afraid that Reina wouldn't agree. Therefore, he promised that he wouldn't touch Reina until they were

married.

During this time, Reina came to know Argus and had faith in him. What was more, Reina hoped that she could love

Argus back.

Reina thought that living together with Argus might help build a relationship

between them, so she agreed. Before long, Reina got a room for Argus.

Reina didn't want to give Argus too much trouble, so she suggested taking turns cooking. They agreed to take care

of each other.

It was Argus's turn to cook today.

Reina replied, "Don't worry about me. I still have some leftovers. I'll heat

them later. If you'll excuse me, I'll go home first."

Argus didn't insist. "Okay. Just go home and get some sleep. I'll tell them that you won't be coming in the

afternoon," Argus answered.

Reina liked the residents very much, and she also liked group activities.

This would make Reina feel less lonely.

Unfortunately, Reina didn't feel good today. Reina nodded and got up to

leave alone.

After Reina left, Ruby put on a serious face and gossiped with the others.

"Have you heard that some foreigners have been seen in the neighboring town over the past two days? They were

coming after a fugitive. I wonder if they will come to our town recently."

"Yes. One of my friends in the neighboring town told me about that,"

Another woman replied. "Speaking of which, isn't Reina coming from

abroad? Are they looking for Reina?" she continued.

Ruby answered without hesitation, "That's impossible. Argus said Reina was

one of his high school classmates. She used to go to the local school. I

don't think Reina knew anyone from abroad.

"And Reina is sweet and honest. How could Reina be a fugitive?

"Besides, have you ever seen a pregnant woman murder people and manage to run away?"

Ruby sounded very convincing. Shortly afterward, Ruby and the other women changed the subject very quickly.

Only Argus took the gossip seriously. Argus had mixed feelings.
