Chapter 376 - I’m Back
Inside the massive castle, Kana found herself in a large room that had a strange stone device with runes carved into it. Seeing Kana looking around in interest, Keniil quickly began explaining about the room. "This here is what I call the control panel to the chamber over there. What happens is the soul by itself, or the soul and the body it once inhabited can be placed into the chamber, and then with the right amount of mixture of life and death elements, it will allow them to fuse and regain the intelligence and movement they once had as for a soul it will only strength them and unbind them from the repetitive actions that most lost souls end up doing after losing their way and failing to return to the river of reincarnation."
"I see now. What about a soul that is bound to a living body?" Kana asked.
"For such a soul, we will need to pull the connected soul from the body they are in, and while it is still attached to the living host, it will strengthen and regain its former intelligence and strength. To do such a thing, you will need to sit right outside the door. But this is not tested and may fail…" Keniil had not realized that the soul within Kana was attached to her rather than just inhabiting her body. He was just now learning this.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"What is the chance of failure, and what is the chance of this succeeding?" This was the most important part. If the chance of it failing was too high, she would not dare risk it.
"Thirty percent chance of failure and seventy percent chance of succeeding." Keniil spoke honestly. Although this was new to him, he figured as long as the connection between the two did not get severed, the soul within Kana would be revived without issues.
Kana thought for a moment before taking a deep breath and letting it out. She took an inward look at herself using her divinity and looked at the small little soul sleeping soundly within her. "Let's do it. The chance of 70% is high. I can only rely on my good luck to pull through this."
"Then, if you can set the soul just inside the chamber and sit right outside the door. I will begin the process." Keniil would not touch the soul himself. He did not want Kana thinking he was up to something. He wanted to build a relationship with his new goddess that was formed on trust.
Kana nodded and walked over to the chamber. She knelt down just outside the door and closed her eyes, concentrating on Lysairth's soul. Using her own soul, she gently picked it up and floated out of her body and gently placed it down inside the room, making sure the connection between the two of them was not severed. She then quickly returned to her own body. This technique was something new to her and was part of one of her skills as a goddess of death. There were many new things swimming around her head that she still had to take time to digest. These new things were not bound by the system.
Opening her eyes, Kana looked at the small little soul resting on the floor of the chamber and smiled warmly at it. Kana's eyes went soft as she softly whispered: "You will soon be better again… Mom…"
To Kana, Lysairth was her mother in this world. She was the one she had first met and was the one who helped her out a lot, teaching her things, and even sacrificed herself to protect her. If this can not be considered a mother, then Kana couldn't consider herself a mother to her own daughters.
Kana blinked the tears in her eyes away as she finally said: "You may begin."
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmKeniil nodded and began moving his hands over the runes etched into the large stone in front of him. It was a cylinder shaped rock, so Keniil had to walk quickly around it as he touched the runes, activating them. There was no sound to what was going on inside or outside the room. There was only the sound of Keniil's footsteps as he did what he had done many times before.
Five minutes passed, then ten minutes, and finally, something seemed to be happening in the room as a bright blue light could be seen through the little window on the inside. Minutes turned to hours when finally Keniil stopped his movements and looked at the chamber door. He reached out his bony hand and placed it on the final and biggest rune. "This should do it…"
"Ugh! Who the hell woke me up!? Where is Kana!?" A familiar voice sounded out from within the chamber, echoing throughout the room. The chamber door did not even need to open as a beautiful woman walked through the door and looked down at Kana. "Humph! Not cute at all! Why did you have to grow up!? How am I supposed to make you do cute poses when you look like you're almost twenty years of age!?"
Kana stared at the familiar figure blankly. Her bottom lip trembled as tears welled up in her eyes. She could only choke out one word. "Mom…"
Lysairth froze, hearing Kana's calling her mom. She stared at the young woman in front of her, who used to be a young little girl. Her annoyance slowly softened as she wiped her eyes. "Brat, how can you call me that after all this time… I don't have a daughter as old as you!"
Kana chuckled as she smiled. She stood up and wrapped her arms around Lysairth, hugging her tightly. This was another benefit of being the goddess of death, she could touch people's souls. Meaning she could finally give this person a hug. Lysairth was once again startled. She had no idea how long it had been since she had contact with someone. But here she was being hugged by the little girl she met so many years ago. She slowly raised her arms and hugged Kana back. "I'm back. Thank you."
