Chapter 629 - Meat Song!
The little caterpillar lowered its head. It did not wish to get eaten, so it could only hope that the stupid slime would return soon. Otherwise, its little wormy body would be served up as a snack to the cold hearted pretty miss. It could only sigh and hope fate was on its side.
While the little worm was worrying about its future, Kana was busy chanting some kind of magical spell as she leaned against the trunk of the ancient tree. "Meat meat meat! Meat is good! Meat fills my belly! Meat, oh meat, how I wish you were here now. Meat is my only true love in the world besides my handsome husband, who also has a big meat stick! Meat meat meat. Meat is good. Lalalalala lalala la lala la laa~!"
Her words carried out over the terrain causing many demonic beasts to raise their heads. Each one of them had a chill run down their spine. They had no idea how strong the being was, that was singing but they knew one thing, they should stay away just in case. This was now the consensus that all the demonic beasts came up with at the same time. Even the few divine beasts that were in a humanoid form decided to stay away.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs for Ako the slime, well, she was busy hunting. She had finally found some prey and was just waiting for it to stop. She could easily run away, but her determination now was to become Kana's contracted beasts so that she would not be alone anymore. She truly hated being alone. She spent a few years alone as it was. All demonic beasts stay away from her due to her race and her abilities. She couldn't even count on all her fingers and toes how many times she had tried to talk to a demonic beast only for it to run away. That is, if she did not create more than five digits on each foot and hand while transformed.
"Hopefully, Kana will not go back on her word…" Ako could only hope Kana was someone who kept their word. With her mind wandering and her nerves getting the better of her, Ako quickly pounced on her prey, not caring to track it like normal. She then took the wood tiger into her body and quickly made her way back to Kana.
Kana pursed her lips as the moon rose high into the sky. It had been a few hours now, and the slime had yet to return. She could only let out a sigh of defeat. She knew she let the slime go on her own and that there was a big chance of the slime running away, but she did have hopes the slime would return. "I guess I should sleep in order to ignore my hunger… How long has it been since I have had to suffer like this? How long has it been since my poor belly had gone hungry for so long…"
As Kana pouted and closed her eyes, a sound came from not too far away. "Huff… HUff… Kana~!"
Kana's eyes shot open. She turned to see Ako standing there with a slime covered wood tiger lying in front of her. Kana's eyes looked at the slimy object with her mouth open wide, salivating at an extreme rate. It was like a flood and broken open in her mouth as drool rained down like a waterfall. "MEAT!"
Kana's eyes only saw meat as she jumped forward and spat out fire at the wood tiger burning the slime off. Only then did she start to carve it up. "Ako, get some wood. We are roasting meat!"
"Huh? Ah, Yes!" Ako quickly ran off like a little errand girl and went to do as she was told. She was happy that she could assist Kana. She wanted to show that she was useful in hopes of gaining Kana's trust and actually forming a contract.
Kana burnt away a lot of leaves and branches overhead carefully to make room for a campfire. She then climbed back down the tree and grabbed a bunch of rocks and dirt. She then made a firepit up on the branch using the rocks and dirt as a barrier between the tree branch and the fire itself.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmAfter everything was set, when Ako got back, Kana lit a fire and began roasting the meat over the flame. Ako watched in amazement as Kana began cooking. She had never actually seen cooking before. She had only read about it in her clan. Kana looked up at Ako and smiled. "Come sit next to me. We can chat while we wait for the meat to cook and eat."
Ako nodded and sat down. She brought her knees to her chin and hugged them, rocking back and forth nervously. "Umm… Kana about the contract…"
"We can do it after we eat. First, you rest. You worked hard. Also, thank you." Kana said with a smile. She then patted the top of Ako's head. She found it to be cool and not slimy at all. It kinda felt like Aoi when she was in a liquid form.
"Yo- You do not need to thank me. I was just completing the task you gave me…" Ako replied, waving her hands back and forth. Her cheeks turning pink.
"I will say thanks to those who do something for me. Plus, you worked hard getting this back here. It must have been hard to move around with such a large prey in your body." Kana felt slightly bad seeing how big this wood tiger was. It was almost four Kana tall! Just thinking of Ako having to suck that into her body and then move around with it inside her made Kana feel bad.
"It-it was nothing…" Ako could never tell Kana that she almost fell from the tree ten times trying to get it up and onto the branch.
"Well, to me it is a big deal. Mr. Worm on my shoulder almost became a snack. If not for you I would have lost my guide, so I must thank you…" Kana replied.
