Chapter 179: Almega Two Years Later...
Alpha Theron's POV I stared out the window, my eyes scanning the expansive territory of the Shadowfang Pack. Whenever I get burned out from work, I always look out through my window to remind myself to whom I am working.
Seeing the whole Pack from above always refreshes my mind, knowing that this familiar sight that I'm looking at all depends on me.
If it wasn't for me, they wouldn't grow like this. They need me, and that's what motivatesto continue in my duty as an Alpha.
Suddenly, a voice cut through the silence, a familiar voice that I haven't heard for three years. "Greetings, Alpha." My head snapped around, the wolf withininstantly alert. There, framed in the doorway, stood the imposing figure of Beta Alek.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtI felt a surge of both relief and trepidation - it had been three long years since I'd laid eyes on him. Finally, he's back.
Slowly, I turned to face him. My expression betrayed nothing, a mask of calm authority concealing the torrent of emotions churning within me.
"Beta Alek," I acknowledged, my deep timbre filling the room. "have you found the answers?" I asked, going straight to the point.
I waited for him for three years to find the answer that I'd been looking for. Of course, I still also missed him. We have worked together ever since I becthe Alpha, and I used to always see his face. However, I had to know... I had to know if Astrid was safe.
A flicker of something unreadable passed across Alek's rugged features. His scent is tinged with the wild, showing that he went straight here when he arrived.
I watched as he pulled something out of the bag that he was carrying and then he carefully placed it on my desk.
My brows furrowed as I stared at the rugged book he had placed on my desk. The book is old and rugged and also has burned marks around its edges. "What is this?" I asked him, without daring to touch the book. "This book contains all of the answers you are looking for, Alpha," Alek answered with a rough voice.
My heart pounded rapidly inside my chest again when I heard his words. The answers I was looking for were finally in front of me. "Have you already read this?" I asked him.
Alek fell silent for a moment, "I had to, Alpha, to make sure that the book really contains the answers that you needed." "What does it say?" I asked him again. The book is pretty thick, and it looks like it would crumble into dust if I touched it.
Since he had already read it, I supposed I could just hear the answer from him.
Alek lowered his gaze. "I suggest that you should just read it Alpha, so you could better understand." I fell silent at his words. "Just how bad is it?" I asked and swallowed hard.
Alek couldn't answer my question for a long moment. "You are the Alpha of the Shadowfang Pack and Astrid is your daughter. Whatever you might find in this book, you are still the most powerful person that can protect Astrid," Alek assured me, strengthening my confidence. With a nod, I proceeded to turn the pages of the book. I sat on my chair as I read through the pages carefully.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBefore I could even reach the end of it, I threw the book across the room as I boiled in anger. "This is bullshit!" I yelled, my face turning red and my arms trembling as I gripped the edge of my desk until my knuckles turned white.
"Alpha!" Alek stood up abruptly from his seat, worried, when he saw how angry I was.
He rushed towards the book, which I threw away, and fixed the pages together. "Where did you find that book?!" I demanded as I pointed at it angrily.
"Alpha, this is the only thing we could find that holds information about an Almega." Almega, according to the book, is what an offspring of an Alpha and an Omega is called.
"It's a forbidden book and all copies of this was burned many years ago. This is the only book that was left, it took us years to learn about this book's existence and to even have a copy of it," Alek explained as he carefully fixed the book together. "That book!" I growled. "That book is filled with lies, no wonder why they wanted to burn it!" "Alpha, I searched for anything I could find out about this book. This book was only prohibited and hunted to be burned because it talks about a forbidden topic. A relationship between an Alphael.nts an Omega was viewed as profanity. It was so indecent that they don't allow anyone to talk about it." Beta Alek explained.
I scoffed at him. "I thought you've already read that book before you brought it to mee text me, do you really believe that this book makes sense?" I asked him. "Alpha, the contents in this book matches with Astrid's condition. Her
blood, the complications with her wolf, everything matches and it om explains everything that you needed to know. If it wasn't credible enough, I wouldn't have brought it to you," Beta Alek explained.
My anger turned to fury when I heard his answer. "Astrid is not a monster! The writer of this book is saying that Astrid is an abomination that needs to be killed. What do you think Beta? Do you agree with that book? Do you think we should kill Astrid before she turns into stype of monster?" I looked directly into his eyes as I questioned him. Beta Alek swallowed hard. Fear crossed his eyes as he locked gazes with me.
