“Let’s create a beautiful Lindel together,” I said.
Sun Hee-Young looked like she didn’t know what to do and not only was she biting her lips, but she looked very serious. I honestly didn’t think that she was going to be this enthusiastic and of course, I had a few methods to use if she acted otherwise, but she was moving more enthusiastically than I imagined. I was expecting her to be scared and hesitant, but I guess she thought differently.
‘I guess my plan worked.’
Of course, she was still burdened by the current situation because her hands and feet were shaking. I was sure that she was already mentally exhausted, which was why she wasn’t able to think properly.
‘Not bad.’
The expression that was on her messed-up face made it seem like she was feeling a sense of duty. I wasn’t sure if my assumption was correct, but the expression that was on Sun Hee-Young’s face definitely looked as if she was feeling a sense of duty.
The way she slowly raised the dagger and walked toward them reminded me of some kind of religious ritual. It was the same when she did a short prayer and raised her hands in the air. Just from her outer appearance, she didn’t seem like she resented them at all.
‘Wow…’
“Miss…it…it was our fault,” one of the men said.
“W-We weren’t in our right minds for a moment. We were really out of our minds,” another said.
“Please spare us, miss. I beg you.”
“Please spare us. Please…forgive us this once…”
“Miss Mage…d-didn’t you say that you were going to spare us? You said you would…”
The way they begged for their lives during this time was a sight to see. They were already tied up because of Jung Ha-Yan’s magic and as they were waiting for her to cast her magic with the daggers, Sun Hee-Young looked at us.
“A-Are you…are you really…going to do it?” she asked.
It sounded as if she wanted us to stop and obviously, I wasn’t going to do that.
“Yes, so no need to worry. You can consider this the same volunteer work that you’ve been doing since we’re technically helping others. It’s only right to throw out the trash,” I answered.
“I see…” she said.
Sun Hee-Young was someone that had to move with us.
When I smiled brightly at her, she started stabbing with the dagger that she lifted above her head. I heard screams. The way she awkwardly stabbed the people looked fantastic rather than grotesque.
“Ahhhh!”
“Miss…! Please spare…” one of the men said.
“Spare…”
“Ahhhh!”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtIt could look gruesome to some as blood continued to splatter whilst the people continued to scream. When they screamed for help, no one came to help them. Not only was this place sealed off by magic, but even if we didn’t seal this place, no one was going to come here and save them. Just like they mentioned before, asking for help in this kind of place was a stupid thing to do because the people in the slums were all busy living their own lives. When I recalled how she volunteered for the people that didn’t even think about helping others, I couldn’t help but laugh. But despite that, she didn’t curse or resent them. She just seemed like she wanted to calmly finish her work despite her hands shaking awkwardly in the air. She didn’t ask for my help even though her eyes would sometimes flash with fear.
“Miss! Miss! Please…” one of the men begged.
“You stupid bitch! You call yourself human?” another asked.
“I’m sorry. Please…please!”
“Ahhhh!”
I thought that maybe she was abnormal from the beginning because from my standards, there wasn’t anyone that was that selfless.
After some time had passed, the sound of her sobs started to die down and a smile appeared on Sun Hee-Young’s face as she quietly collected her breath.
“How was it?” I asked.
She looked a bit flustered. Her eyes were swollen and there was blood flowing down from the cut that was on her forehead, but she spoke with a smile on her face. “It was really…rewarding.”
Her voice sounded a bit creepy, but despite that, she looked a bit beautiful for some reason. I was worried about her mental state, but she looked fine. Although there were several conditions that helped her, I believed that the new values that I instilled in her had settled inside her.
‘It was a success.’
“Should we get going?” I asked.
“Where…” she asked.
Of course, I wasn’t going to make an obvious recruitment offer, so when I quietly extended my hand out, I felt her grabbing it. Jung Ha-Yan looked like she was a bit uncomfortable, but this shouldn’t be a problem at all.
“Doing volunteer work with a new meaning isn’t something you can do alone and unlike before, we have to do it incognito. I’ll work with you,” I told her.
“Together,” she repeated.
“Yes, together. There are going to be a lot of problems when trying to realize your worth. After all, it’s something that an ordinary person cannot grasp,” I said.
“I see,” she said.
“I’ll prove to you that you’re not wrong,” I said.
“Okay…Mr. Ki-Young,” she answered.
“You need treatment first…”
“It’s fine since I can do it myself,” she said, interrupting me.
Sun Hee-Young recited a spell quietly and not long after, I became speechless at the sight of her wounds healing. I experienced being under a healing spell once because of the ring that Jung Ha-Yan was wearing, but her wounds were healing a lot faster than me from back then.
‘She’s competent.’
A priest was very rare in this place because not only was it difficult to find people that were suitable for the job, but it was also difficult to find a competent priest. Of course, I felt good about working with a woman that possessed a legendary-ranked holy talent. At the least, I didn’t have to worry about dying after getting hit by an arrow from afar.
The only thing left was to return to the guild with this woman and as I slowly started to walk away, Jung Ha-Yan leaned herself against me. I guess she was worried because I was treating Sun Hee-Young nicely.
Sun Hee-Young opened her mouth while keeping her distance from us, but she didn’t say anything important. She was talking normally. Considering what she went through just now, it was a bit strange how she could talk normally, but seeing how Jung Ha-Yan was responding to her little by little, I guess they didn’t feel that awkward toward each other.
That was when I felt a familiar figure heading toward us.
“Mr. Hyun-Sung?” I asked.
“So it was you, Mr. Ki-Young. What a coincidence that we happened to meet here because I thought you were in your laboratory…did you come out with Miss Ha-Yan to take a stroll?” he asked.
“Oh, actually…”
When I glanced over at Sun Hee-Young, she smiled brightly and spoke. “Nice to meet you. My name is Sun Hee-Young. I came here to volunteer for a bit…”
“Oh, nice to meet you. My name is Kim Hyun-Sung.”
I was a bit confused because it seemed like this was their first time seeing each other.
Then, I saw a child slowly stepping out from behind Kim Hyun-Sung. Since they were still a child, it was a bit difficult to differentiate whether they were a boy or a girl. Their eyes were filled with spite and the dirt that was on their face explained that they were from the slums.
‘Are they?’
When I quickly activated Mind’s Eye, what I saw was a sight to see.

‘Wow…’
Except for Kim Hyun-Sung, she was the first person I saw that had epic and legendary rank for all of their stats and I was immediately able to catch on to the fact that Sun Hee-Young wasn’t the person that he was after. The reason why he visited the slum in the first place was to bring this child over to us. When I slightly looked down, I noticed the child quickly hiding behind Kim Hyun-Sung. She looked like she was scared, but she also seemed like she was confused by the unfamiliar situation. I noticed Sun Hee-Young looking at the child with an unsatisfied expression, but thankfully, no other problems occurred.
“Um, the child…”
“I coincidentally met her in the slums. She seemed talented, so I brought her here because I’m thinking about teaching her different things. She’s thoughtful and it looks like she already has a job even though she’s a bit young to go out to hunt…oh! She’s really shy, so it’ll take some time to get close to her,” Kim Hyun-Sung explained.
“Oh…I see,” I said.
“What about you Mr. Ki-Young?” he asked.
“It was the same for me. While walking around the slums, I coincidentally met this priest…while having a conversation with her, we sort of had a connection,” I answered.
“Ohh,” Kim Hyun-Sung said.
The way Kim Hyun-Sung looked at Sun Hee-Young suggested that this was really his first time seeing her and it felt like he was quietly judging her.
‘Does he really not know her?’
If I were Kim Hyun-Sung, I would have done my best to recruit that child as well as Sun Hee-Young because the potential of her holy stats was above legendary. No matter the reason, she was one of the people that had the potential to shake the future.
Honestly, it didn’t make any sense because even though the slum was a pretty large place, they could have met a few times since there was always a large group following Sun Hee-Young. Despite that, seeing as how Kim Hyun-Sung didn’t try to recruit her, I guess he didn’t really get a different impression of her.
‘How could that be?’
She was a priest with a secured future and even though she was still developing, she was the type of person that was going to grow even more in the future. That was when I suddenly had a strange thought. It would be understandable if Kim Hyun-Sung didn’t pay much attention to her because she experienced an unexpected accident in the near future. I was sure that in his past life, he was really busy at this point, so it was right to think that he worked desperately in order to adapt to the unfamiliar environment. He probably didn’t have the luxury to think about the rumors about the slums since Lindel was a large city and a lot of things were happening at the same time.
In order to survive, he probably either went out to hunt or locked himself up somewhere to focus on his training, so it was possible that he didn’t hear anything about the Saint of the Forsaken. I did think that Sun Hee-Young may have continued to live this life, but it was reasonable to think that the possibility of that was low. When thinking about the saying, talent will show itself, my assumption sounded a bit more convincing, but it was nothing more than an assumption in the end.
But for some reason, the thought of Sun Hee-Young not doing anything and dying in the past popped into my head, and of course, I didn’t know how she died. She could have died during an expedition after receiving a guild or a clan offer or maybe a war broke out in that timeline and she got caught in it. She could have also gotten sick or she may have experienced something horrible due to a misunderstanding with a guild or a clan.
Or maybe...
‘The people of the slums killed her.’
I didn’t know everything that happened before Kim Hyun-Sung regressed. All I could do was assume, but for some reason, I couldn’t help but think that Sun Hee-Young had lived a bit of a bitter life in her past life.
No, I was almost certain of it…
“I look forward to working with you, Miss Hee-Young,” Kim Hyun-Sung said.
“I look forward to working with you…as well, Mr. Hyun-Sung. I think I’ll be indebted to you for the time being,” she said.
…Since she was the ideal volunteer.
