Chapter 75
Chapter 75.
Aisha’s POV.
One week later.
It had been a week since Nelly had fallen unconscious, and there had been no change. had spent every night
crying, my eyes swollen and red from the tears. Kex had taken up residence by her side, his hand never leaving
hers, as if he could wake her up through sheer force of will.
The pack doctor had given up hope, and the people in the pack had begun to lose faith. I tried to maintain a
brave face, but inside, | was crumbling. It was as if my world were falling apart, and there was nothing | could do
to stop it.
Kex had ordered the castle curtains drawn, shutting out the light and any hint of hope. The castle gates were
closed, and the sound of laughter and celebration was replaced by an oppressive silence. It was as if the
happiness were gone alongside Nelly.
| carried a tray of food to Nelly’s room, my steps heavy and my heart heavier. | could hear my footsteps echoing
off the walls, the only sound in the once-bustling castle.
As | walked, | wiped the tears that were now streaming down my face, my shoulders. sagging with grief.
I didn’t bother to knock on the door, knowing that Kex would not reply. The last twe had heard his voice was
when he had given the order to close the castle gates. Now, he was like a ghost, haunting the halls of the castle,
a shadow of his former self.
Harry had taken over the running of the castle, for the meantime. | pushed open the door, stepping into the
darkened room. The air was thick with a heavy silence, the only sound was the soft breathing of Nelly on the
bed.
“Good morning, your Highness,” | said softly, bowing my head out of habit, though | knew he would not respond.
| set the tray of food on the desk and surveyed the room. The bed was still rumpled from where Kex had spent

| felt a pang of sadness as | picked it up, the smell of the congealed food making my stomach turn. | carried the
tray to the door and handed it to the nearest guard. As | stepped back into the room, | walked straight to Nelly.
| leaned down and kissed Nelly’s
forehead, gently brushing her hair away from her

face.
“Wake up for us, momma,” | whispered, my voice breaking. “We miss your smile.” | felt the tears begin to flow,
my grief overwhelming me. | took a deep breath, willing myself to be strong for her. “You know Aisha is miserable
without you,” | said, my voice. shaking. “I promise not to stress you again. Please, cback to us.”
| took her hand in mine, my heart aching with the emptiness of her touch. A sob escaped my lips, my words
failingas | tried to speak.
“Fuck!” | cursed, my anger at the situation bubbling up inside me. | wiped the tears from my face with the back
of my hand, my eyes stinging with the effort.
“I'm just a little emotional,” | said, my voice sounding unconvincing even to my cars.
| looked down at Nelly, who lay still on the bed, her face a picture of peace despite her illness. A shiver ran down
my spine, as | recalled what my mother had told me.
“When a sick person glows, it means death is near.” | pushed the thought from my mind, refusing to believe that
this could be the end for Nelly.
| turned to look at Kex, who sat in a chair in the corner, his expression impassive. | took a step towards him, my
voice gentle.
“Kex, you should eat something. You need to be strong for Nelly.” But he just gaveat stony glare, his eyes
cold and unyielding.
| swallowed the lump in my throat, feeling the weight of his anger.
“Please,” | said, my voice breaking.
But he turned away from me, his shoulders rigid, his jaw clenched. | felt my heart sink, and | turned back to
Nelly, fighting back the tears.
| took Nelly’s hand in mine, my tears spilling over as | whispered to her. “They said they saw Astel around the
castle gates,” | said, my voice barely a whisper. “Perhaps, Nelly. He had cfor you, something you had always
longed for.”
But she gave no sign that she had heard me, her breathing slow and shallow. | felt my heart break, the tears
flowing freely now, no longer held back by my fragile resolve. | bent down, pressing my forehead to hers, feeling
the warmth of her skin.
“Please, fight,” | said, my voice barely audible. “I need you.”
The door creaked open and Harry entered, his eyes avoiding mine as he crossed the room to where Kex was
sitting. He knelt beside him and began to speak, his voice low and serious. Kex listened, his expression
unreadable, but | could see the tension in his shoulders.

| knew that Harry was reporting the daily report, as he did every morning even though. Kex would not respond.
The silence in the room was palpable, the only sound was the ticking of the clock on the wall.
| felt a hand on my shoulder, and | looked up to see Harry standing behind me. | gave him a weak smile, trying to
hide the fear and grief | felt. He bent down and kissed my cheek, his eyes filled with compassion.
“She'll be okay,” he whispered, his voice soothing.
He rubbed my shoulders, his touch warm and comforting. | wanted to believe him, to find hope in his words. But |
couldn't shake the feeling that something was wrong that Nelly was slipping away from me.

on the rogue king?” | asked, my voice barely a whisper. Harry shook his
“Nothing,” he said, his face somber. “We're trying our best, but I'm not sure whether it's of any use.” He paused,
his gaze turning to Kex. “I don’t think Kex is interested in war right now. Nelly’s condition is too delicate. It would
be too dangerous.”
| nodded, understanding the implications of his words. “And the arrow?” | asked, my voice breaking.
“There's no sign of it,” he said, his voice filled with sorrow.
| nodded, my eyes fixed on Nelly’s face. | brushed her hair back from her forehead, my fingers trembling. Harry
stood up and moved to sit next to Kex, their heads close together.
“I swear, Nelly,” | said, my voice hoarse with emotion, “if | ever find Emily, I'll kill her myself.”
Emily had always been a thorn in our side, a troublemaker, and a nuisance. But now, she had crossed a line that
could not be undone. If only tcould rewind, | would have strangled her the moment she was locked in the
cell.
Harry walked up to me. “Let's give Kex sprivacy,” he said, his voice calm. | nodded, standing up, and he
wrapped his hands around my waist as we stepped out.
Suddenly, he whispered something in my ears that made my eyes widened.
