198 “He Is So Stupid”
The sound of wind rustling through the leaves accompanied the steady footsteps as a group of three people slowly moved ahead on a long and dusty road. ????????????????ℯ????d.c????m
The sun was setting on the horizon, and the entire sky was dyed crimson as the final rays cast their light into the clouds above. Anyone who witnessed such a picturesque scenario would understand how beautiful it looked, but the trio did not seem to appreciate the pleasing scenery at all.
“He told you that he would return today?” The young man who walked in the middle was none other than Luo Xiao, and although he had matured slightly, it was obvious that only a year or two had passed since he left Cloudsoar City.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“Yes, Young Master Gu. The family guards informed us that your guest is waiting for you in your room at the inn.” The Shadow Guard had been by Luo Xiao’s side for a year now, and although he was well aware of the young man’s true identity, he would always refer to him as Young Master Gu, no matter who was present. To them, Luo Xiao had long since died, and only their new master, Gu Tianyu, existed.
“He is so stupid.” Although Luo Xiao’s words were full of reproach, the smile that was spreading on his lips could not be ignored, and anyone who looked at him could notice the happiness that radiated from his entire being.
Although the past year had been hectic, Jiang Yao had not left Luo Xiao on his own. According to their original agreement, they had to meet up at least twice a year, but during this year alone, this was the fifth visit that Jiang Yao made to pay his respect to his deceased lover.
During the year, Luo Xiao had heard many tales and fables of Jiang Yao’s greatness and his dedication to his loved one. According to these rumors, the grief that the Seventh Demon Prince experienced was so intense that he even lost his reason and locked himself up in his palace for many days without leaving. All he did was observe his beloved’s cold corpse and wish for it all to be a dream.
Later, he built the most outstanding mausoleum and even purchased a special kind of ice coffin that was meant to preserve the corpse, so that it would look the same as when he was still alive.
Even the closest kin were not allowed to enter the mausoleum to pay respect to Luo Xiao; only Jiang Yao could enter and leave.
.....
The rumors had slowly turned into stories of his furious retaliation as he murdered his fourth brother and many of his confidants. Even so, the emptiness within the prince’s heart could not be filled, and he began to roam the world looking for a purpose in life.
Many of the places he visited reminded him of the loved one he had lost, and eventually, he decided to ascend to the realms above in search of a way to resurrect Luo Xiao and reunite with his lover. Even if he had to wait for his reincarnation, then he was willing to wait.
Even so, he would come back every one or two months to pay his respects and unyielding love to his beloved’s grave.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSuch rumors were naturally outstanding and moving, but only Luo Xiao and his companions knew how untrue they really were.
During the time he was supposed to mourn, Jiang Yao had tagged along with Luo Xiao and they had been full of sweetness and happiness. Jiang Yao was not at all affected by the fake death; his only unhappiness was due to the fact that they had to stay apart.
At first, Luo Xiao had also been very reluctant and depressed, but now that a year had already passed, he was no longer as entangled with the problem. It was clear that Jiang Yao was not going to limit their meetings, so he was just going to follow the flow.
“Young Master, we are going to return to the Gu family soon. Although you have never been at the ancestral home before, Patriarch Gu has been treating you kindly over the years, so you should not experience too many setbacks during the visit.”
The Shadow Guard intentionally wanted to remind Luo Xiao about the purpose they had when coming to the capital of the Xiumeng Empire. Ever since the first time Jiang Yao came to visit, the guards had long since realized that their two masters were brilliant on their own, but when they met one another, it seemed as if their intelligence dropped and they could only see their partner. Every important plan and schedule would be tossed out of their minds.
In fact, such matters would not affect much if Luo Xiao could use his own identity, but after taking over the role of Gu Tianyu, he had to be aware that certain things could not be ignored. Especially when considering the identity of the Gu family, whom his current identity relied upon.
“I know, but didn’t you say that my guest is at the inn? That is fine, the meeting with the Gu family is not before tomorrow, so I can still relax for a whole evening.”
The Shadow Guard made an obeisance, as he was well aware about his own identity, but inwardly he could only sigh. He truly liked Luo Xiao very much, and witnessing his hard work during the past many months, he truly felt that this young man was the most suited partner for their master, but he also knew that no matter how many expectations he had about remembering the meeting tomorrow, this young master would toss it out of his head the moment Jiang Yao entered his sight.
The life of a servant was truly challenging.
