"It was necessary to kill them. You saw what they did to these women, and the men," Olivia said to Jennie who pressed her lips together.
She gave her best to distract herself by fooling around with Felicia, but her eyes kept flicking back to the blood that covered the ground of the cavern village.
The pictures of the desperate Silverheart Dwarves running for their lives were apparent in her mind.
Felicia smiled at Jennie, and she lightly caressed her back in an attempt to console her.
Both Felicia and Olivia were a few years younger than Jennie, but Olivia was raised to be strong and independent, and Felicia would help her father every now and then.
He was a butcher with a quite popular shop that was known for their high-quality meat. Being a perfectionist, he didn't like the attitude of most part-timers he had hired over the course of years. Thus, Felicia ended up working part-time for her father to earn some pocket money. She quickly learned things and was good enough to help him out and satisfy his perfectionism.
She had become used to the sight of blood more than enough as she had butchered most pigs, cows, and other animals herself.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtAs for Jennie, she had never killed a living being before, not intentionally at least. She even felt bad for accidentally stepping on ants, other insects, and snails. Jennie would even start crying because she was so sorry for taking their lives.
Because of the way she was, the Arcane Apocalypse was, quite literally, the worst that could have happened to her.
"What Olviia says is true. Even my Soultrait is certain that the Silverheart Dwarves would have endangered all lives in the Jula Valley. You might not like this, and I actually don't like it either, but we will have to kill in the future in order to survive…and that doesn't only include Lesser Demons, who are just as evil as they look. Liam is right…we need to change…" Felicia said, trying to calm Jennie while making her understand the situation.
Felicia was already pretty sure that Jennie understood the current situation, but her issue was that she actually didn't 'want' to understand it.
The old world had died, it had been devoured by the Arcane Apocalypse, and replaced by a new world that was far from peaceful.
The strong still ruled the weak, which would never change. However, what changed was that death and murder had turned into something one would encounter every single day.
Jennie didn't want to accept this. It couldn't be true…
Even the one-armed Derek and the other women were better at accepting reality. Jennie had it quite easy for the last two weeks. Staying by Liam's side and only faced with a single attempted rape could already be considered having survived without facing a big problem.
The 14 frightened women had it much worse. They were molested several times, had a hard time fending for themselves, and they saw their friends and family being killed in front of them.
Comparing their lives to Jennie's, she had a pleasant time without many problems, while the other women had to fight for their survival with all their might.
Some were still afraid of Liam and scared by the things that had happened during the last few hours, but there were some who couldn't help but sneer quietly when they realized that Jennie was just a brat that had been spoiled by Liam.
Olivia, Felicia, and Jennie noticed this, and it was only a matter of time until the tension in the cavern village increased considerably.
Liam didn't really care about their problems. He chose to give them enough space to fight amongst themselves, while he sold the goods of the Silverheart Dwarves, whether it was finished swords, armor plates, or other weapons and pieces of armor.
He didn't know too much about traps either. Selling them was better than wasting precious resources by letting them rot in the Storage Rune. Rather than collecting stuff he would never use, earning Arcanium from selling them would turn into a much better investment.
'I should keep the high-quality forging hammer, the Lacranium anvil…the lustrouna ores…the half-purified Silverwood…' Liam thought while organizing all the goods he found in the cavern village.
There were way too many things that might be useful in the future. He was not too sure if he would start forging in the future, or if he would find someone who could forge some things for him. That was also why he retrieved 200 kilograms of the Saphirate Crystals from the Early Birds Shop and set them aside for future needs. He stored the Saphirate Crystals inside the Storage Rune as well, even if it was just for the possibility of encountering some sort of Blacksmith with highly potent forging-attributed Soultrait.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmSetting aside some materials for the possibility could be wasteful right now, but the gains he could make upon encountering the right person were certainly worth the 'gamble'.
One way or another, the gains he made from hunting the 300+ Silverheart Dwarves were certainly worth it. Each Dwarf rewarded him with some equipment that could be sold for more than three Arcanium each.
Furthermore, there was the Arcane System's notification that rewarded him with more than one Arcanium for every Silverheart Dwarf he killed, and the Livral Orb that devoured the corpses and turned them into Arcane Power, which could also be sold.
And then there were the smithies, the forged goods, and so on.
Overall, Liam was pretty sure that his gains were around or possibly even above 3000 Arcanium!
Most goods had yet to be sold but it was only a matter of time before they would disappear from the slots.
Once everything had been sorted out, Liam returned to the group of women, who seemed to be fighting with each other.
Derek had quietly observed the entire situation unfold itself, and he couldn't help but feel like running over to Liam.
Liam might be a bloody Murderer, but he was definitely not as scary as 17 enraged women!
"Liam, help me please!" Derek said while rushing over.
Liam raised an eyebrow when he saw the tinge of desperation in the one-armed man's eyes. He expected something bad to have happened, but the problem was different than expected.
"They're about to tear each other apart. Please stop these girls!"
