Three days later, Jennie was still not ready to accept reality.
But who could hold that against her?
She was not able to see her parents even once during the Arcane Apocalypse, and she regretted not having been at home more often before the Arcane Apocalypse started.
Jennie had been living in the Golden City since her high school days. She had to leave her parents in order to attend the most prestigious high school in the country. Of course, all of that was not meaningless.
Who would bother about the place you got your diploma from, let alone that you have a high school diploma in the first place? If Jennie had known that things would turn out like this, she would have stayed at home to stay side by side with her parents.
But what exactly would that have changed? She would have died alongside her parents. The only difference was that they would have made good memories with each other before the world turned upside down.
The final result would have stayed the same either way.
Jennie could only calm down because Liam continued to use force to hold her down. His stats were not overwhelmingly powerful, but his technique was good enough to keep her in check with the least effort. Jennie didn't eat much and she was struggling to stay awake. It was only a matter of time before she would collapse.
Liam wasn't exactly waiting for that moment before he was hoping that Jennie could use her guilt and sadness as fuel to become stronger, to change her stance toward monsters, and to start actively hunting monsters.
Ignoring the fact that Jennie's Soultrait was important, Liam didn't really like that Jennie was giving up on herself, just like that. Her parents were dead, that was a fact. However, she was still alive, and she could get revenge for the death of her parents. They had been mercilessly killed by a monster.
Killing that monster wouldn't be enough to make her feel good, but it could be considered the start of a new chapter in life.
Liam knew that his own revenge was nothing better than an attempt to accept his past and to make sure that his new chapter in life would be different.
"Do you want to take revenge on the Lava Salamander?" He thus asked expressionlessly.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtHis purple eyes looked only at Jennie, ignoring everything and everyone else in the room.
Jennie's tears had long since ceased. She didn't have enough tears left to keep crying day in and day out.
He could understand Jennie's feelings because he lost the people he loved dearest right in front of him.
The thought alone was enough to make his blood boil and generate enough rage to make him feel things.
"If you want to take revenge on the Lava Salamander, you have to become stronger. You will have to use a bunch of Kikal Stalks, or one Kikal Tonic. As long as you can survive consuming the Kikal Tonic, your strength will increase drastically. The chances that you will actually survive are slim, so I won't force, let alone recommend you to actually take it.
You can also use other means to become stronger, but they will take a while and you might fall back behind me and everyone else who is willing to take the Kikal Tonic."
Surviving the Kikal Stalk's poison and the painful state caused by the Kikal Tonic was not a matter of the body's vitality or condition. No. It was only related to one's willpower, and desire to stay alive.
It didn't matter what reason one had to stay alive but it was important to desire to live more than death.
"They're pretty nasty, so take your time and decide what you're going to do. Meanwhile, I will take the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum. If I survive, my stay will probably be around [A], or [S]. By then, you guys either have to be strong enough to not fall behind me, or… I will whoop your asses!"
Liam didn't think that it was necessary to hide that he was going to consume something different than the others. They stared at him with conflicted expressions, but Liam tried to ignore that.
But despite trying his best to ignore the others' gazes, it was clear to see that they were worried.
Why would they be worried?
The answer to this was pretty simple.
They could tell that Liam was going to do something dangerous. He was not overly confident to survive consuming the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum, which his words suggested pretty clearly.
[The Livral Orb finished digesting the Spawn of the Ancient Vermin Draklings. The produced Arcane Power has been stored in the Livral Orb's storage.]
[The Host devoured objects and beings worth 50,000 Arcanium. Achievement『Little Glutton』has been attained,
[+100 Arcanum have been rewarded!]
Seeing this notification in front of his eyes, Liam was pretty sure that he could use a quarter of the accumulated Arcane Power to use the full potency of the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum while making sure that he would survive the perilous situation. He would be in a vulnerable state but he was sure that he could trust the others enough not only to leave him alone but also to protect him if something were to happen.
Liam didn't spent too much time with the others, and he mostly ignored them, however, they still trusted him. Thus, Liam felt himself slowly trusting them as well, even if there were still times he wished he wouldn't trust anyone.
'Then let's see how much Aranium we could get by selling everything.'
[The Arcane Power accumulated within the Livral Orb can be sold to the Arcane System for 50,000 Arcanium!]
"Oh damn."
'50,000 Arcanium? That's exactly what I need to initiate my Bloodline Awakening. Well, it will be a lot less once I am done with the Blood Yokai el Rey serum.'
Liam knew that he could purchase lots of things with 50,000 Arcanium, but he wanted to get stronger first. He couldn't focus solely on increasing the quality of his equipment, or purchasing more tools.
eαglesnᴏνel It was about time to change things up a little.
"I will release a tremendous amount of Arcane Power in the house. The traps Hellen laid out might not be enough to cover the traces. Thus, I will install an Arcane Power isolation circle. We won't have to bother about other monsters noticing us. If you want to consume a Kikal Tonic or some Kikal Stalks, do it when I release the Arcane Power. Use the massive amount of Arcane Power to survive and overcome the poison while making the most out of it," Liam said before he put down the six Kikal Tonics and two dozen Kikal Stalks.
He wouldn't force anyone to take them but he gave them the opportunity.
Once he was done, Liam opened the Arcane Shop and walked outside while scrolling downward. His eyes moved rapidly as the rows of items flew by the holographic screen.
[1x 『Dome of Isolation(A+ Rank)(100 Hours)』has been purchased. 500 Arcanium have been deducted!]
100 hours were more than enough to consume the Blood Yokai el Rey serum. Liam was pretty sure that the others wouldn't require much longer either.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThus, he installed the Dome of Isolation and activated it before he went inside. Liam looked at the others just to see that none of them had moved to the Kikal Tonics.
The others were conscious of Liam's gaze but he didn't really mind that. He went to the attic and sat down with the Livral Orb in his lap and the vial of the Blood Yokai el Rey Serum in his hand.
There was no need to hesitate. He released a tremendous amount of Arcane Power from within the Livral Orb while swallowing the content of the vial at once.
Oddly enough, the serum smelled oddly sweaty and sour. It was a deadly mixture that made you wonder just how unhealthy something can taste.
However, before Liam could focus on the taste, his body began to heat up. Every cell in his body seemed to be churning, heating up to the extent where Liam began to wonder whether he was going to die, or if he would turn into a potato head.
This thought was enough for him to instinctively reach out to the Arcane Power in his surroundings. He pulled it inside his body to cool down his cells and treat his body with a cool treatment.
His body kept heating up, consuming the Arcane Power that ought to cool him. This forced Liam to keep attracting more cool Arcane Power and to consistently circulate through his body. He had to find out a rhythm that allowed him to keep his body temperature low and to pull in more and more Arcane Power.
Slowly but steadily, his body felt sore as the hot and cold treatment killed his senses.
Through this sensation, he felt incapable of perceiving anything in his surrounding. He noticed that a bunch of notifications had popped up to his right but Liam closed his eyes to ignore them.
Focusing on the present was more important than a bunch of system notifications. With that in mind, he grit his teeth and endured the tremendous pain that spread through every single cell of his body. It made him feel as if he was confused.
However, in return of being consumed, Liam did exactly the same, consuming everything and everyone just like them!
