When his teeth sunk into the meat prepared by Felicia and the others, Liam could hardly control his facial expression.
He frowned deeply while chewing on the piece of meat as if it was a dry lump of rubber.
"That is definitely rubber…" He grumbled while forcing the meat down his throat. It was far from delicious but it did its job, filling Liam's starved stomach, one way or another.
His eyes were filled with displeasure as he retrieved the Keychain of Miniature Tools from Felicia. She muttered something under her breath, unable to keep up the gentle and kind smile that could be seen whenever one looked at her.
"Whatever. Let's finish our meals and get going," Liam said, not minding Felicia's hurt look. She should understand that she was not going to win any cooking competition in the near future. Maybe he had expected too much from the natives. They had probably never touched unprepared meat in their life, let alone dissected a dead body it.
He got up from the tree trunk that had served as his chair and returned to the basalt underground tower.
While the others had prepared dinner or whatever that thing was, Liam had put his time to good use as he killed a few Ordinary Shedim that were scavenging through the surroundings.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThere had been no other Lesser Demons than Ordinary Shedims, which was quite surprising and Liam already came up with a theory that explained the reason behind the presence of a few Shedims he encountered.
'The tower requires other people to be in its proximity to allow the residents to leave.'
Liam was not sure if that was correct or not but he saw a bunch of more than a hundred Ordinary Shedim waiting inside the basalt tower. They didn't leave the underground tower, which was a stark contrast to their action three days before the Arcane Apocalypse began.
Now that he finished his food that would easily rank in the top 5 worst dishes he ate in his entire life, Liam was ready to kill the hundred Ordinary Shedims.
He released the Arcane Kunai when he reached the huge ancient gate of the underground tower before he threw the Arcane Kunai at the first batch of Shedims.
Controlling the Arcane Kunai with his will was rather easy, but controlling it for a long period of time over a long distance made things a little bit more annoying. Thus, Liam didn't control the Arcane Kunai for a long time.
He threw it toward a small group of Shedim, and killed the foul demons by controlling the razor-sharp Arcane Kunai, whose blade had been forged with the Essence of a Blackleara Swordfish, for a few seconds, precisely changing the trajectory of the Arcane Kunai to pierce it through their flesh one after the other.
After the first small group of Shedim had been killed, Liam retracted the Arcane Kunai before he threw it out while maintaining the weapon's peak momentum. Less than three minutes later the last Ordinary Shedim had been killed.
As for the Arcanium he received from killing the Ordinary Shedims, it was laughable.

These notifications tormented Liam since there were close to a hundred of them, and the only reason for him to be so unbothered about the low rewards was that he could sell the Lesser Demon's corpses now that he had a shop. It had been extremely easy to kill them as well, barely requiring any Arcane Power, let alone effort to control the Arcane Kunai for a few seconds whenever he threw it out at his prey.
The Lesser Demons with their pale, mottled, and burned flesh that was covered with black scales were extremely weak in comparison now that his stats had increased. He was also in possession of pretty decent equipment, which elevated his strength even further.
However, what astonished Liam a little was that the Lesser Shedim had gotten rid of the weapons they had been wielding when Liam first encountered them at the cliff. Claws adorned each of their hands and feet, and some of them had black rotten wings that couldn't be used properly as too many holes riddled the leather wings.
This turned them into fearsome-looking Lesser Demons, who had wielded steel weapons before.
'That is a bummer.'
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmLiam had actually been hoping that the Lesser Demons were still in possession of their steel weapons. That way, he would have been able to make an even bigger fortune from selling both the Lesser Demons' corpses and their weapons.
Now that this was not possible anymore, Liam chose to accept his fate and to get rid of the Mutant Elite Shedim that had made its way to the ground floor of the underground tower as well.
The Mutant Elite Shedim was bulky and much larger than its' brethren. It didn't have too many rotten spots on its body and its head looked like the head of a snake with an extremely long neck.
Liam knew that he could sell the corpse of the Mutant Elite Shedim for quite some money. Not only would it be used for research by other races, but it was also possible to use the body parts of the Mutant Elite Shedim to create decent weapons, armor, and even poison. After all, the Mutant Elite Shedim's body was home to some powerful toxins.
With that knowledge in mind, he didn't have to hesitate as he released both his Arcane Kunai and a Lumina Needle at the same time.
Each of his hands moved nearly simultaneously as both weapons shot toward the Mutant Elite Shedim that made the mistake of focusing only on the Arcane Kunai.
However, that was a lethal mistake, which it realized too late as the Lumina Needle illuminated in a dazzling light. The Mutant Elite Shedim hissed out in pain before it blindly slashed at the position the Arcane Kunai ought to be.
Unfortunately, Liam had willed the Arcane Kunai to move, changing its trajectory the moment the Lumina Needle's dazzling light forced both him and the Mutant Elite Shedim to shut their eyes tightly.
A guttural scream followed not long after and Liam received two pleasant notifications after silence enveloped him again. At the same time, he retrieved his Arcane Kunai which was now dripping blood after piercing through the tightly shut-eye of the Mutant Elite Shedim before it drilled through its brain.
