Chapter 32 "I want to confirm if someone's deliberately framing my mom and make things just for her." Skylar's deep, smoldering gaze bore into Sadie's and Maisy's, who stood before her.

She'd summoned a great deal of willpower to control her emotions, she'd nearly killed Maisy when she'd pinned down the latter earlier.

However, Skylar felt like her second chance at life would be meaningless if Sadie and Maisy caused Viola, Gloria, and her family to go to jail.

"How dare you?" Sadie was in total shock upon realizing Skylar was no longer the sperson who'd done everything to please her.

Maisy felt nothing but utter loathing toward Skylar. She refused to get the police involved.

That was when a light bulb went off in her head, and she looked at Janine with a teary expression. “We've already admitted that we were mistaken. Please, can't we end this matter here, Ms. Yancey? wany "It would do nobody any good to make this a big deal, right? Please convince my sister not to escalate things" Janine's heart withered when Maisey addressed her as though she were a stranger. Even so, she knew it would do no good to Skylar if they made a big deal out of things.

Skylar's relationship with the Williams family would only becstrained since she had challenged Sadie. Janine knew that, so she tried to convince Skylar with a gentle voice. "Skye, how about we drop this matter? I accept their apology and believe they won't do this again." Paul looked down at his phone; he'd just received the elevator surveillance footage.

From the footage, it was clear that Sadie had instigated the physical violence. Alas, she'd happened to be in a blind spot, so it was unclear whether Sadie had taken off her ring to frJanine Paul forwarded the video to Skylar, who checked it.

"Since Janine has already accepted our apology, let's end this matter here. Skye, I know you're still upset that we didn't buy you a car and even terminated your card.

Sadie felt oddly uncomfortable when she saw Skylar treating her coldly while defending Janine this entire time.

She was Skylar's biological mother, but why did Skylar only care about Janine? How could a woman who worked as a housekeeper mean more to Skylar than her? Skylar had never heard Sadie utter such soft, friendly words to her before. Now that she'd heard them, she only found them words ridiculous and ironic.

Chapter 32 2/2 "I won't spare you guys if you dare pick on my mom again. I don't care if it means risking my life." Skylar hugged Janine's arm while snarling at them. Then, she left the office with Janine.

Those words rattled Sadie to her core. From the way Skylar had treated Sadie, she seemed like an entirely different person.

Maisy thought Skylar had gone bonkers to threaten Sadie over a mere housekeeper. The ache on her face caused her to inhale sharply before she took out her phone.

She texted Christopher, saying, "I bumped into Skylar at Jubilance Hotel. She hitand even offended my mom." A minute later, Christopher replied, "I'm nearby. I'll head over now."

Christopher was determined to see Skylar. He hadn't been in contact with her in so many days, which had made him realize she was serious about breaking up with him this time. It was Janine's lunch break, so she and Skylar went to the staff's break room.

They enjoyed their takeaway pizza, and Janine also took the provided staff meal. After all, Jubilance Hotel's staff meals were lavish and nutritious, with a good balance of protein and vegetables. "Skye, you and your mom-" Janine couldn't help feeling uneasy as she recalled the tense atmosphere from earlier.

"I'll only acknowledge you as my mom. The Williams family has m nothing to do withfrom now on," Skylar said in a low, grunting tone. "Skye, tellthe truth. Did something happen to you while you were with the Williams family? Did they mistreat you?" It pained Janine to think about that. She had a gut feeling that Skylar had been picked on by the Williams family. After all, Skylar was affable. She had always been well-behaved and considerate toward others.

She wouldn't have been this determined to cut ties if the Williams family hadn't done something to her.
