Chapter 779
Colton paused his actions for a split second and frowned, his head lowered. "I've been a little occupied with work
lately. I don't have time."
To that, Benedict glared at him and retorted, "Don't give me that bullsh*t. As if you can't even take one day off. It's
not like Gardner Corporation will fall without you for a day!"
Annoyance began enveloping Colton's countenance when he saw how obstinate his grandfather was. However, he
swallowed it and said nothing.
Meanwhile, Benedict continued, "The Wrenns and our family go way back. Evelyn's an innocent girl, and I've
watched her grow up as well. It'll be good if you two can end up together."

to have a say in it. No doubt he only wanted him to stay away from Nicole.
At that, Colton drooped his eyelids and thought for a moment before saying, "She's just a sister to me."
Seeing Colton's rejection, Benedict didn't push too far. He merely said, "She's visiting me tomorrow. Stay at home
and don't make any excuses."
Benjamin's words came to mind when Colton looked at his pallid grandfather, and he finally gave in, nodding in
acknowledgment.
Finally, the elder was looking better after seeing Colton had agreed to it. At that, he closed his eyes and announced
with lethargy, "Alright, that settles it. I'm going to get some rest now."
"I'll be heading out, then. Goodnight." Colton left at once.
After gently closing the door, he found his mother standing uneasily by the door. "How did it go? Your grandfather
didn't give you a hard time, did he?" she whispered at once.
"No." Colton shook his head, then paused for a second before continuing, "Evelyn's coming over tomorrow, and
Grandpa wants me to entertain her."
Anna's countenance froze as a thought hit her. At that, she pursed her lips and looked up at her son. "The Wrenns
and our family are close. Plus, we have some business dealings with each other. Your grandfather approved of
Nicole in the past, so he never said much. But with everything that has happened, he's worried you still have
feelings for Nicole, so he wants to match you with Evelyn."
As if Colton didn't know that himself. "I don't like her," he said plainly as he put his hands listlessly into his pockets.
Anna, on the other hand, sighed under her breath. Knowing that nothing could change Colton's mind once he had

made a decision, she said no more and patted his shoulder. "Alright, if you don't, you don't. However, respect
should still be given where respect is due. Just don't make it ugly."
To that, Colton nodded gently and mumbled in response.
"Get some rest then." Anna spared him from the topic seeing that he didn't want to continue.
Later that night, a storm suddenly fell, and the rain mercilessly hit the windows repeatedly, creating subtle pitter-
patters.
Meanwhile, Colton looked out into the night view and on the wet bench under the warm streetlights, as well as the
massive tree planted in the front yard of the mansion that rustled against the wind.
He, on the other hand, stood rooted to the spot while keeping his gaze on the view, only coming back to himself
when a gust of cold wind blew in his direction.
At that, he rubbed his temples and suddenly thought he was somewhat ridiculous.
He noticed he had grown more and more indecisive lately for some reason. Is it because of Nicole?
Tenderness laced his impassive face as she came to his mind, and he thought he liked having someone to miss.
