Chapter 934 Betty’s Condition
Nicole didn't expect Zachary to come to her.
She thought that he would call if he wanted to look for her. To her surprise, he came all the way to the Gould
Residence instead.
Siobhan was also taken aback by his arrival, but for appearance's sake, she had no choice but to graciously
welcome him.
"Mr. Yates?" She lifted her chin and looked at Zachary. "Are you and Nicole…"
He only let out a lighthearted chuckle as he took a sip of tea from the cup in front of him. After he was done, he
calmly revealed, "I like Nicole. I've liked her from the moment she joined the company. It has been about six years
now."
Once again, Siobhan was surprised by how he admitted to it right off the bat. Despite her astonishment, she
laughed under her breath and asked in return, "You should know that Nicole and Colton are engaged, then?"
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt"Yes." Zachary nodded and got straight to the point. "But Nicole told me that she and Colton are only putting on a
show."
A flash of shock appeared in Siobhan's eyes. She didn't think Nicole would have told Zachary about this.
However, as a woman who had experienced her fair share of tough situations working in her industry, Siobhan was
fairly good at coping with shock. Still smiling, she told him, "Please sit here and wait for a moment, Mr. Yates. I have
sent the housekeeper to get Nicole."
"Thank you," he replied, his tone neither haughty nor humble.
Siobhan had a strange glint in her eyes when she suddenly remembered something. "By the way, Mr. Yates, did you
know that Colton is the father of Nicole's son?"
Zachary's expression remained calm despite those words, and he nodded and hummed in acknowledgment. "I am
aware, but I only found out after I came back to the country."
"And you don't mind?" Siobhan's eyes were on him when she spoke.
"I like Nicole. I don't mind her past. I can also treat Hayden like my son," he stated.
Hearing that, Siobhan pressed her lips into a smile and put a pause to the conversation.
She could easily tell from his words just now that he had a deep affection for Nicole. She had also found out through
an investigation she ordered that Zachary had helped Nicole a great deal when she first went abroad with a son.
Even though she was employed at F&M Apparel, she didn't live an easy life then.
When Nicole came downstairs, she saw Siobhan and Zachary talking about something face-to-face. Zachary
promptly stood up and greeted her when he saw her coming down the stairs.
"Nicole."
"Hey, Zach," she replied casually.
Not wanting to disturb them, Siobhan stood up and excused herself. "Have a nice chat. I have something to attend
to, so I will be out of your hair now."
Nicole only smiled after the older woman left. "What's the matter? Is it an emergency? You even came to the Gould
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmResidence."
He nodded. "I went to see Ms. Betty at the hospital today, and I heard from the people at the medical base that it
will be difficult for her to get well because of the drug eroding her body even though her memory has recovered by
more than half. I came to talk to you about the situation."
Nicole's expression froze when she heard those words. She had visited Betty before, and the older woman looked
fine then. Furthermore, Nicole only managed to hear about her identity from Betty. She didn't even have time to
know the details of Betty's condition.
"Is it bad?" she asked solemnly.
"Yes. If she is not treated in time, I'm afraid she will only last for a year at most." Zachary wasn't joking or
exaggerating. This was the diagnosis he heard at the medical base.
Nicole's chest immediately tightened. Even though Betty wasn't young, she was only in her early seventies. It was
because of Lydia's selfishness that Betty didn't have much longer to live.
"I know someone abroad who specializes in conditioning. How about—"
"We will send her abroad, then." She finished his sentence. "I will handle the procedures to send Ms. Betty
overseas."
