Looking through my new Status Window, a satisfied smile played across my face. All my Stats appeared to have doubled. Also noticing the brackets beside my Stats, I realized those must have been the stolen Stats I had taken from others. They weren’t much compared to my base Stats, but they were still a good addition.
I noticed I had taken quite a great deal of intelligence. That seemed quite amusing to me, considering my Intelligence Stat stuck out like a sore thumb out of everything else in my Status Window.
“Welp, it doesn’t hurt to grow smarter…” I grinned.
In such a cruel, unpredictable world, sometimes intelligence played a greater part than actual strength. That didn’t mean strength was useless, though. It was good to have both, like me.
The already wide grin on my face grew even larger the moment I focused my gaze on a particularly troublesome item on my Status Window that had stubbornly refused to make any changes for some time now.

– (G) Karma Points: 1,050
[.]
My eyes bulged, realizing my experiment was a success! The (G) Karma Points that had stubbornly stagnated at 100 had now risen by a whopping 950 points, giving me the current number.
“Amazing… my first theory has been proven then!” I beamed.
As for what I meant by theory and experiments, it was quite something. To understand my line of reasoning one would have to trail back to my final moments at the Apartment.
I had first noticed after waking up on the ground floor of the apartment. The Boss had just been killed and I also pushed Paul down the pit to experience the same fate.
Due to my exhaustion, I collapsed and had a short nap. By the time I woke up and had the opportunity to check my Status Window, my Levels, Stats… as well as (G) Karma Points had all risen. Though my (G) Factor was reduced for some reason, I was surprised that the (G) Karma Points that I had no idea how to obtain had increased a great deal.
It was previously 5, but at that moment it had become 200!
It was still a mystery how that had occurred since I knew for a fact that killing monsters, no matter how many, never added a speck to the (G) Karma Points.
Since I had desperately tried all I could to obtain them, I knew that much! To upgrade [Subspace], they (G) Karma Points were needed. They were the only way to increase the power of my Gift.
I used a hundred of the points to increase the [Subspace] Rank from E to D. This reduced a huge chunk of 100 Points from my (G) Karma Points, but it was necessary. With only 100 Points left, I checked the system for how many Points I would need to upgrade [Subspace] again.
I was met with an exorbitant amount!
[System Error]

~You Possess Only 100 (G) Karma Points~
This disparity reminded me of the first time I tried to upgrade [Subspace] and the amount I needed was a mere 5 Points. The system now demanded a thousand points!
“Where am I supposed to find that?!” I remembered screaming in utter confusion.
However, being flustered and frustrated wouldn’t solve my problems. I had to figure out the root and cause behind the (G) Karma Points. This was absolutely necessary since my Gift was my ultimate means of survival in the Apocalypse.
After thinking hard about the reason my Points increased, I could only narrow things down to two possibilities.
First was the fact that I had defeated a Boss and closed a Gate, something I had never done before! If that was the case, then it would make sense that the System would reward me with something special.
The second was the fact that I caused the death of Paul. It was probable that killing a Gifted, or causing their death would earn me (G) Karma Points.
The second option seemed less believable than the first, especially considering the fact that I wasn’t even sure Paul had died. However, something within me resonated with the idea as well as the first.
A third theory sprang up and I contemplated that maybe it could be both.
Without any proof for my theories, I needed a way to figure out the workings of (G) Karma Point allotments, and to do that… I needed Gifteds.
When I saw Ana’s team, I knew they were godsends. I could have tested my theory back then and allowed the Ogre to kill them, but doing so would be a waste.
I reasoned that they most likely belonged to a Camp and that I was bound to find even more test subjects if I stuck with them. That decision paid off!
I was introduced to a whole nest teeming with test subjects! It was so exciting that I felt my skin tingle. After spending some time with Charles and discovering the Status Windows of others, though, I began finding holes in my theory concerning the death of a Gifted.
For starters, no other Gifted had the (G) Effects I possessed, making me wonder if they could generate Points if they died.
Secondly, Larry was one who had killed and caused the death of Gifteds in the past, yet he also didn’t have the (G) Karma Points, causing me to wonder if their deaths would really produce (G) Karma Points.
Still, I was desperate and couldn’t entirely disprove the theory until I was satisfied with the results of an experiment!
I was happy with the existence of a Horde approaching since it meant a Gate appearing somewhere. I would be able to prove my first theory that way. Also, since a bunch of Gifteds would die in their fight against the Demons, my second theory was also going to be proved or disproved, whichever was the case.
Though I hadn’t yet encountered the boss, I ensured the death of a couple of Gifteds by the hands of Demons. And the result?
I got myself a bunch of (G) Karma Points!
