“Hold on… this makes no sense…” Words leaked out of my lips as I remembered something very important.

The notion that human life wasn’t cheap rang true in my mind. However, not every life was equal. Even in modern society, humans weren’t equal.

Being weighed by the scales of society, certain humans would always gain the upper hand and be regarded as superior. That simple concept hadn’t changed yet.

The only difference was the method of allocating worth. The System did it using EXP and Levels.

‘The higher a person’s level is, the more they are worth…’ I reasoned.

Evil Aligned Gifteds were most familiar with this since there was a vast difference in EXP when they killed two Gifteds with different Levels. In a way, it was no different from measuring the worth of Demons.

My point? If this applied to EXP, then surely the same had to be said for my (G) Karma Points.

Of the forty Subjugation team members who had died, twenty-four of them were killed by the Demons during the second raid when I wasn’t present. As a result, I got no (G) Karma Points for it. Adding the number of deserters who died due to my experiment, a total of 43 should have produced (G) Karma Points for me.

I got 950 Points.

I had no way to know how these points were allocated. However, there was one thing I couldn’t forget. After the whole incident in the apartment ended, I was given 195 Karma Points..

If I was to judge the worth of Paul’s life, he was merely a Level 1. He couldn’t have been worth that huge amount of (G) Karma Points.

Using this line of reasoning, two thoughts came to mind. One was that Paul wasn’t necessarily dead, since he couldn’t have produced that huge amount of points just by himself.

The second was more realistic. Paul had died, but his death wasn’t the only cause for the points I received. If I was right, that meant.

“The Boss… the Gate… It’s not just a theory!” I beamed.

I could actually gain (G) Karma Points by closing Gates, otherwise, it wouldn’t make sense that I was awarded such a high amount of (G) Karma Points just for the death of a Level 1.

‘Whew… I feel much better…’ My mind felt clearer, as though a fog had been lifted.

Having what bothered me out of the way, I proceeded to the second thing on my list.

Normally, it would be selecting a Secondary Job, but I decided to leave that for last since I needed to take more time to deliberate on what I wanted.

“Let’s check out the Skills of the Hobgoblin (Warrior)…”

After observing the Demon Core, as well as its properties, I discovered three major Skills the Hobgoblin had.

However, of those three, one was <Claw Bullet>, which wasn’t very useful for me. I ignored it.

The second was <Glare>. Since I was curious about it, I decided to learn it. Apparently, this Skill caused a debuff to whoever made eye contact with its user. The only reason the Skill didn’t work on me was that my Level was too high, so I resisted it.

I didn’t consider the Skill too useful, though, since I wouldn’t have the time to make eye contact with all my enemies once engaged in combat. Still, it wasn’t entirely worthless, so I decided to upgrade it to the max.

The final Skill, which I considered the most useful, was <Muscularity>. This doubled the strength of its user for a short period. Strength was my weakest Stat. If I could double it, it was guaranteed to make me way more powerful.

It also made sense that the Hobgoblin Warrior had this since I remembered how much their blows hurt.

In conclusion, I learned two extra Skills, bringing my total amount of Skills learned to 17, with 8 more Slots to spare.

“Alright, then. Let’s do this!” I beamed in satisfaction.

My efforts weren’t entirely in vain!

The final piece I had to engage in for now, also considered the most important at the moment, was choosing my secondary Job.

“Status Window,” I muttered, and the golden screen shone on my face.

My eyes automatically trailed to my Job icon.

A lump formed on my throat and I felt my skin itch. This was another life-changing moment, so it was only natural that I would be nervous. Deciding not to waste any more time, I took the bold step of tapping the <Please Select> icon.
