‘Shit!’ Charles thought to himself as he walked down the stairs with Kevin, the murderous man who slaughtered Ana and several other Gifteds.
His plan was to use the commotion Jeremy generated to insure himself and his family’s safe exit. Unfortunately, it was all ruined now that Kevin made him follow as they went to the entrance.
On the bright side, he would get to see Tasha, and if they were lucky, they could both make their exit once Jeremy got the leader of the scavengers busy.
“They’re all mostly dead, except for a few… what’s going on? How could they fall this quickly?” The buff, dark-skinned man grumbled in annoyance as he walked.
His eyes showed a murderous feel, and the bloodlust he emitted was enough to make even Charles tremble in fear.
The indomitable Camp Leader had been reduced to this!
‘Endure it… just hold it in… your chance will come!’
The two adults made their way to the entrance and could already hear noises caused by the cheers of the victors and screams of the victims. The stench of blood played around both their noses and, the moment they reached the gate, the duo witnessed the carnage that had occurred..
Many humans lay on the floor, having the red hue of life smeared all over their bodies as they drowned in the pool of their own fluids. The expressions on their faces showed twisted agony, displaying what their final moments would have been before death.
Witnessing this, Kevin’s scowl went deeper.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇt“B-boss!!!” A few voices called out, making the leader look away from the pile of corpses that used to be his subordinates.
Three survivors, who were already terribly injured, rushed at him. Relief was smeared all over their faces as they cling desperately to their only hope of living.
Now that their boss had arrived, all the enemies who killed their companions and caused them deep-seated fear would be eliminated. It was only a matter of when and how.
Unfortunately, as they ran, a bunch of earthen spikes sprang up and tore through their bodies while a slash of wind also sliced through their necks, cutting through skin. Blood splattered from the deep injuries the parties received, and the already-battered bodies of the desperate ones slumped.
Their HP reached zero… and they died!
With the last of the enemies defeated, killed by one of Charles’ team members, there was so much confusion and tension, among other mixed feelings, that everywhere was strangely quiet.
The group of Gifteds was a little surprised by the appearance of the ebony man and Charles, who stood beside him, maintaining a bit of gap between both of them.
They wanted to shout “Camp Leader”, but held their breaths. Something was amiss, and with their Levels high enough, they weren’t keen on being careless.
Lara, the one who finished off the last three Gifteds smiled as soon as the [You Have Leveled Up] Window appeared, congratulating her on the reward of reaching the threshold of Level 100. It was unfortunate that she didn’t have the time to unpack the new abilities the System would grant to her, so she looked forward to eliminating the one before them, the Evil Aligned ebony man who seemed like the malefactor.
‘I don’t sense Jeremy… did he go somewhere?’ Lara thought to herself.
Well, it didn’t matter. She could see the current Level of their foe… he was definitely stronger than her, but… with an army of this size on their side, he would ultimately lose!
This rang true in the minds of everyone who were prepared to fight.
Kevin Smith was utterly confused. He had thought the Camp members were weaklings, and judging by normal standards, none of them should have had a Level reaching 50. They should have been worn-out and exhausted too, yet they managed to lay waste to the majority of his men!
The one who killed them was none other than the grinning bitch a couple of meters from him. Rage filled his heart and his muscles tensed up in anger.
“You bitch!!!”
In a flash, he lunged at her, intent on crushing her with his raw strength alone.
Unfortunately…
>KRIIIIKKKKKKK<
A pink-layered barrier appeared, shielding Lara, and sending an odd shock coursing through Kevin’s veins. The dark-skinned man realized that his target was being protected, so he leaped back to his initial position to regain his composure.
‘What the hell…? That barrier was able to receive one of my blows… and remained intact?!’
The stone-cold killer couldn’t take it anymore and decided to have a look at the Status Introductions of his enemies.
‘WHAT?!’
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmThe intimidating being became the one who was intimidated!
Every single Gifted here had surpassed Level 50! A majority of them had Levels in the 70s-80s, a few being 90s, and one even had a Level reaching 100! It was absurd beyond compare, completely different from what Charles had told him and the information he had gotten about them previously.
‘H-how is this possible?!’
Had Charles lied to him? Sharply turning his confused and annoyed face to confront the Camp Leader for his blunder, he discovered that Charles was equally stunned by the sudden development.
‘T-this is… their Levels… how is this possible?!’
Charles found himself failing to understand how his members had gotten so strong so quickly.
Of course, there could only be one answer—defeating the Horde
‘What? Did they actually do it? In such little time?!’ It was something he wasn’t expecting, but at this point, he had to believe it.
Jeremy actually pulled it off!
Charles could feel his heart racing. The man couldn’t help but imagine how powerful the young boy had become if his own Camp members had gained such strength. He could see that their numbers had dwindled greatly.
About only half of them survived, but he understood that there had to be casualties in battle. His eyes caught the image of his wife. She was perfectly fine.
‘Jeremy kept his promise!’ He heaved in relief.
