Chapter 748 Stars
The battlefield was immersed in a chaotic aura, where flames literally danced like divine serpents and dark shadows tried to devour the starlight.
Fryft, the human mage, stood erect in the air, like a column of steel at the epicenter of this magical storm. Her gaze contained an unwavering resolution, like the roots of a deep tree.
Belial, the merciless demon, was kneeling under the impact of the stars that Fryft had summoned. His body, despite his demonic resistance, was drenched in a heavenly light that burned like the sun itself.
The ground, marked by constant magical tremors, seemed to breathe in harmony with the celestial battle that was unfolding.
Despite this, Fryft's breathing was heavy, and her hair fluttered like silver curtains under the glare of the stars. Her effort to maintain the <Intertwined Flames> and respond to the resistance of Belial's magic was monumental, but she stood firm like a mountain.
"Belial, you underestimated the strength of human magic!" Fryft proclaimed, his voice echoing like an ancient melody. She raised her arms, again summoning the cosmic energies around her.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtBelial, despite his weakened posture, flashed a sardonic smile. "Human magic, an ephemeral flash in the face of eternal darkness. You may have wounded me, but underestimating the true extent of demonic power will be your downfall."
Not wanting to listen to the demon's words, with a quick gesture Fryft cast a new spell, called <Celestial Ring>. As she did so, rings of light appeared around her, spinning like planetary orbits around her. Each ring was a manifestation of a basic element of magic, water, earth, air and fire, a complex defense that glowed with the promise of protection.
Belial, noticing Fryft's creation, narrowed his eyes. "You try to hide behind such simple magic? Fool!"
Belial's reaction was immediate. He stood up, gathering the remaining shadows around him. His eyes practically spoke with malice as he prepared a fearsome technique: <Devouring Shadow>. The shadows surrounding Belial advanced like hungry beasts, a dark mass that sought to break through Fryft's defense in a cloud-like shape. The celestial rings glowed brightly and advanced, resisting the onslaught of the shadows, but the clash was fierce. Each ring seemed to change its element to adapt, forming a barrier of light against the demonic darkness.
The ground shook, the magics collided in a titanic clash.
The duality between the light, which Fryft was able to create with a combination of elements, and the shadows of hell, generated by Belial, created an epic and magnificent scene.
Fryft was resisting as hard as she could, but her mana was running out. Being rooted like an ivory tower in the center of it all, she knew that when her mana ran out, she would be killed. Even so, Fryft, while maintaining her posture, felt exhaustion weighing down on her like an invisible burden, but her determination was a flame that could not be easily extinguished.
The magical battle unfolded in cycles of offense and defense, a cosmic dance between two antagonistic forces.
When Bloody Lily finally reached the portal, she looked back, witnessing the transcendental duel. As her <Celestial Ring> ability resisted, Fryft began to rapidly become more and more exhausted. Her body, an exhausted magical vessel, reflected the fatigue of the mammoth battle.
Belial, on the other hand, smiled as the shadows intensified. He was a monster and had a frightening mana capacity.
In a last-ditch effort, Fryft concentrated her remaining energies and cast <Song of the Stars>, a melodic ability that took all the sound of the last five minutes that had reverberated around her and turned it into an attack of waves of sounds, and as many sounds of explosions and crashes took place, this attack was very powerful, being able to throw Belial very far, very hard, but it also exhausted her.
The <Song of the Stars> was not just an offensive spell, but a plea to the heavens. And when Fryft saw that she had managed to hit it, coincidentally that was the end of her mana. She became so exhausted that she began to fall from the sky.
Bloody Lily saw and, worried, stepped forward, determined to save her, only before she could act, a crash echoed.
On the other side of the capitol's battlefield, exactly where Belial had been thrown, a puff of gray smoke rose with the sound and, pushing the smoke away with his hands, Belial showed that he could still fight. His knees were slightly bent and he had several bruises on his face, but being a demon his fatigue was momentary and his wounds could heal themselves.
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmBloody Lily took another step, but then she remembered her duty, her part in this mission, after all, if she didn't manage to find the contract, it would all have been for nothing. Torn between duty and concern, she felt conflicted.
However, before Bloody Lily could decide, a shadow materialized just below where Fryft was falling and managed to cushion her fall in his arms. When he raised his head and stood up, Bloody Lily recognized the disheveled clothes and black hair. It was the attendant from Kaizen's store, Og'tharoz.
"Boy, you dared to defy Belial... you have courage." said Og'tharoz, his deep voice echoing across the battlefield. "Rest now, I'll take care of him."
Belial, however, was not at all happy about all this. He glared hatefully at Og'tharoz and slowly raised his left hand, letting it be engulfed in black flames.
Blood Lily, even in the face of the imminent threat, stood firm.
"You're very annoying." Belial said, his voice resounding like distant thunder. "But before I annihilate you, I want you to know that you will suffer in hell too."
Bloody Lily was ready to face the next clash when a voice rang out across the battlefield.
"Go, red-haired woman, go do your duty. Fryft will be safe under my protection and I will keep my promise to protect her and this portal until Kaizen arrives. Don't worry about me."
Bloody Lily hesitated for a moment, looking at Fryft lying motionless in his arms. However, she remembered Kaizen's personal request to him and with a silent nod to Og'tharoz, she walked towards the portal and entered, immediately being sent to Muspelheim.
"Can you stand?" Og'tharoz asked Fryft, but she immediately denied it with her head.
