Lizetta carefully lifted Rem's arm from around her waist and turned over.

She had stayed up waiting for him to chlast night, leaving the curtains open so she could see the

driveway light up the moment he arrived. But at spoint, she had drifted off to sleep.

Now the bedroom was filled with the bright light of morning, and Lizetta lay there in the warm winter sun, quietly

watching the man beside her.

His face was strikingly handsome; every feature of him perfectly aligned with her ideal of beauty.

Or perhaps, her idea of beauty had been shaped by him.

Before she even knew what handsmeant, she had regarded Rem as the most handsman in the world.

That's why, no matter how many years had passed, every tshe saw his face, her heart still skipped a beat.

He must have stayed at the hospital all of yesterday, because even in his sleep, there was a hint of weariness on

his brow.

Without thinking, Lizetta reached out and gently smoothed his furrowed brow.

Her touch was light, but Rem suddenly opened his eyes.

Those deep eyes of his, sharp and clear even just after waking, looked into hers like whirlpools.

Lizetta felt her heart jump, and she curled her fingers back.

"Did | wake you?"

Rem caught her retreating hand, squeezed her fingertips gently, and brought them to his lips for a soft kiss.

Then, with a voice husky from sleep, he greeted her.

"Good morning, honey."

Lizetta hadn't expected him to call her "honey" so casually. Despite being married for so long, this was the first

the had greeted her like that in the morning, in bed. With her heartbeat quickening, and her cheeks

warming, she felt a bit shy.

"When did you get back last night? Is Barbara okay now?"

Lizetta changed the subject, feeling concerned.

Seeing Rem in a relatively good mood, she thought Barbara must be doing well.

Rem pulled Lizetta closer into his embrace, and nodded slightly.

"The surgery went well, but she's still in ICU for observation."

Feeling relieved, Lizetta smiled and let out a sigh of relief.

"That's good to hear. Look at you, your eyes are all red. Go back to sleep for a bit."

If Barbara hadn't made it through, Rem would have been devastated. Lizetta didn't want anyone to suffer, not

even someone they barely knew.

She urged him to get smore rest, but when he kept looking at her, she covered his eyes with her hand.

Rem smiled softly, pulling her hand away to look at her again before suddenly asking, "Did you hear everything

yesterday?"

Lizetta was surprised that he brought it up.

She thought he might pretend the incident hadn't happened, as it wasn't exactly a happy topic.

Her eyelashes fluttered. "Yeah, | saw you left your phone in the car. | was worried you'd miss an important call,

so | brought it up to you and just happened to hear." "Are you upset?" Rem asked again.

Lizetta shook her head. "No, if | were upset, | wouldn't have cback. | understand the situation; | know you

had no choice."

And she wouldn't have kept thinking about him, waiting for him.

Rem's gaze narrowed, fixating on her.

"So why were you in such a hurry to hang up yesterday? Don't tellyou were just rushing to get in the car; |

don't buy it."

Feeling cornered by his questioning, Lizetta felt helpless. She hugged Rem tighter, burying her face in his chest;

her voice was muffled as she spoke.

"Logically, | understand. But emotionally, what woman wouldn't feel uncomfortable hearing her husband agree

to marry another woman? Don't | have the right to be upset?"
