Chapter 317.1–The Truth Revealed(1)
Imogen stared into Troy’s eyes for a long moment.
She finally became certain that Troy wasn’t lying to her.
Imogen bit her lip, her voice filled with confusion, “Why is it Leo?”
How could it be Leo?
She felt disoriented, as if she had been struck by lightning.
How could Leo be connected to the kidnapping case and her father’s death?!
Henry had told her that the idea to adopt her had originally come from Leo, as a way to show gratitude
for her father’s liver donation that had saved Henry’s life. She had always respected Leo for that…
Suddenly, a flash of insight crossed her mind, reminding her of something Erik had mentioned. The
person who had sent her family abroad had six fingers on their left hand. Leo’s driver also had six
fingers. She had never connected the two before…
Seeing Imogen’s question, Troy gave a bitter smile and said, “Surprised, aren’t you? I had the same
reaction when I first found out.”
“What’s going on?” Imogen was still a mess. “Why… why did he kidnap Sarah…”
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtSarah was Troy’s girlfriend at the time and potentially Leo’s sister–in–law. Why would Leo want to
kidnap Sarah?
“Kidnap Sarah?” Troy shook his head with a light laugh. “We were all deceived…”
“What do you mean?”
Troy looked at Imogen with a solemn expression. “There was no kidnapping case from the beginning. It
was all staged.”
Imogen stared at Troy in disbelief, momentarily at a loss for words.
The kidnapping case was fake?
Then, what about her father’s death?
“Do you remember what Agnes said on Christmas Eve? Leo had another woman outside, and when
Agnes confronted him, Leo claimed he was innocent but refused to reveal the woman’s identity.”
A dreadful thought flashed through Imogen’s mind, her brows furrowing and her lips trembling.
“You’ve guessed it.”
“Sarah?” Imogen’s heart faintly grasped the answer, but it felt like a dream, and she couldn’t believe it.
“Yes.”
Troy watched Imogen’s expression and gave her the time she needed to process everything,
After a while, he continued to speak, slowly revealing all the details to Imogen. Imogen sat there with
her head hung low, eyes closed, her elbows resting on her knees, and her hands running through her
hair.
She maintained this posture for quite some time, and Troy didn’t interrupt her.
Seeing her struggle to accept the truth pierced something deep within Troy’s heart.
If even he struggled to accept it, how much more difficult must it be for Imogen?

She had believed that her father’s death was the result of evil kidnappers and hidden conspiracies.
Little did she know that the kidnapping case was a farce, and her father had died at the hands of the
very “victim” he had tried to save.
Her beloved older brother had turned out to be an accomplice in her father’s death!
And all of this was because of a casual remark Leo had made.
It was all so absurd that Imogen couldn’t help but laugh.
Such a ridiculous thing happened to her and her father.
Imogen had suspected that her father’s death was related to some powerful figures who wanted him
out of the way, but the truth was even more shocking.
Her father hadn’t died at the hands of some ruthless capitalists but had died because of his own.

The person he had seen as a victim had turned out to be a demon.
Perhaps in his final moments, her father had been unable to comprehend how things had taken such a
turn.
Imogen felt foolish.
With Henry’s status, he could have obtained a liver transplant easily.
It just so happened that her father had donated his body at that time, and Henry needed an organ
transplant.
Even if it wasn’t her father’s liver, there was nothing particularly unique about it.
Henry had known her father through their connections and had realized that she was the last remaining
family member. He had proposed adoption as a logical step, but Leo’s motive for wanting to adopt her
was less clear.
Unless Leo had done something underhanded…
So, Henry’s death wasn’t because of Imogen and Troy, but because of Leo. This explained why his will
was unfavorable to Leo and even left Imogen with a substantial inheritance as compensation…
