Chapter 1231
The man who came was wearing a white suit. Although he seemed young, he had an alluring charm
and elegance.
Everyone turned their heads as soon as he entered the door, and people that knew him immediately
surrounded him. ' Mr. Fike, you're here!"
"We’ve been waiting for you!"
"Mr. Fike, I heard that the research institute's new project is very intriguing. Will you talk about it
today?"
"Mr. Fike, why are you alone today? Is your teacher...coming?"
Maria had been so cautious about it when almost everyone had the same suspicion. When it came to
this group of people, secrets spread like wildfire.
Many people believed that Austin was the secret apprentice that Dominic took under his wing.
Follow on NovᴇlEnglish.nᴇtThis assumption initially stemmed from the fact that both of them had the same surname, and they
began to suspect that Austin and Dominic were related, otherwise, why would Dominic take in such a
young person as his apprentice and keep it a secret? Even old friends who were close to Dominic did
not know about it.
The young man stopped and looked at whoever asked the question. With a warm smile, he said, "My
professor is busy with research back at the institute. He rarely attends such events. I'm here as his
representative."
The "teacher" that Austin mentioned referred to his mentor at school, not the person in everyone's
head. Although the crowd understood this, it might sound like he was avoiding the topic out of a guilty
conscience to some.
If he felt guilty, this would mean he really was Dominic's secret apprentice!
The people in this circle had an obsessive admiration for Austin. This was not only because of his
qualifications and status, as he became famous at a young age for his excellent acupuncture skills.
He had cured various sorts of illnesses. It was rumored that he had cured the wife of a certain
renowned figure, who had been sick for many years.
Countless people lined up to seek medical treatment from him but were rejected. Many people wanted
to be his apprentices, but it was hard even to meet him, let alone work for him.
Under such circumstances, meeting Dominic's secret apprentice was a great honor.
"Yes, yes. When it comes to medical herbs, the knowledge is limitless. Mr. Fike, your professor, is our
role model," someone from the crowd praised. Then he took the initiative to lead the way. "Mr. Fike, this
way, please."
Austin raised his hands to signal the crowd and smiled apologetically." Sorry, but I have something to
do. I'll talk to you guys later."
With that, his eyes scanned through the crowd and locked onto a figure sitting in the corner before
heading straight toward her.
Lily had just finished her food and had taken a new dish from a passing waiter. Just as she took a sip of
Follow on Novᴇl-Onlinᴇ.cᴏmher drink, she noticed a man walking toward her.
The man standing in front of her attracted a lot of attention.
"Ms. Christian," he greeted her politely.
"Hello." Lily smiled and nodded. "You must be Mr. Fike from the Institute of Medical Herbs. Nice to
meet you!"
"I don't like beating around the bush. Why do you want to suspend the research that we're doing?” He
asked directly.
"Why didn't you reply to my message?" Lily asked without missing a beat.
Austin was taken aback, not expecting her to reply like this. He hesitated momentarily and was about to
speak when she spoke again. "Don't give me the excuse that you've missed my message. You've
looked at your phone three times since you came in here. You don't seem like the type that doesn't
fancy having a phone around."
Initially, Lily did think that he must have missed it. After all, some people devoted so much time to
research that they might not even have time to touch their phones.
